Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Clothes Make the Man

Xiao Bai looked at himself in the mirror for quite a while, sizing up his reflection from every angle, and finally threw a seductive wink at Wan Chu’er’s reflection.

"How about that, am I so handsome that I’ve stunned you into silence?"

Wan Chu’er: "...You’re not going on a blind date, no need to dress up like a peacock, right?"

Xiao Bai clicked his tongue twice, sighing, "Wan Chu’er, I can’t believe you’re a woman. Haven’t you heard the old saying: ’The Buddha needs his gold, and people rely on clothes’? With me looking like this, anyone would tread carefully around me. You should really learn from me in the future."

Wan Chu’er chuckled, not agreeing at all, but too lazy to argue with Xiao Bai. She glanced at the clock on the wall; it was already 1:50 PM. Xiao Bai had spent almost an hour getting dressed up.

Such a long time, and what she could’ve accomplished in it.

"Second Brother, let’s get ready and head out."

Xiao Bai turned around and saw Wan Chu’er dressed in sportswear with a backpack on her back, about to leave. He called out to her incredulously.

"You’re not planning on going out like that, are you?"

Wan Chu’er glanced at herself, "What’s wrong with this?"

"Of course there’s a problem!" Xiao Bai said: "We are going to negotiate and sign an agreement today. You can’t approach it so casually; as it is, our value is a billion, but looking like this, they’ll probably offer no more than 250 million."

Wan Chu’er bared her teeth, "You’re the 250 million!"

Xiao Bai pulled her, "Hurry back to your room and put on some pretty clothes. Do you have a dress? Wear a dress! And change the bag too."

Wan Chu’er wanted to protest, but Xiao Bai threatened her, "Otherwise, I might as well go back home. Going out like this, we’re literally setting ourselves up for failure before even fighting the battle. What’s the point of trying to achieve great things!"

There was a whole theory behind it, and seeing Xiao Bai’s determined will, as if he wouldn’t leave the house with her unless she changed, Wan Chu’er had to compromise.

She went back into her bedroom, opened the closet, and rummaged through it, pulling out a light blue dress from the very bottom. This was a dress Bai Zhixi had chosen for her when she was preparing for college, a time before she left; Wan Chu’er had never worn it before.

"Our Chuchu looks really pretty in this dress."

That’s what Bai Zhixi had said at the time, the image of a proud parent emerging as their child grows up appeared in Wan Chu’er’s mind.

She touched the dress, feeling a pang in her heart, wanting to put it down, but ultimately unable to part with it.

"Wan Chu’er, what are you doing, growing mushrooms in there? Is changing clothes that difficult? If you don’t have anything to wear, I’ll go shopping with you right now, but we really are going to be late."

Xiao Bai’s urging voice came from outside; he thought Wan Chu’er was hesitating again.

Wan Chu’er took a deep breath, steadied her emotions, and whispered to herself: "Mom, I will live a very good life, don’t worry."

Then she quickly slipped into the light blue dress and walked out of the bedroom, matter-of-factly saying, "I don’t have a suitable bag, I’ll put my things in Second Brother’s bag for now."

Xiao Bai sized up Wan Chu’er from top to bottom and nodded, adding with a slight sense of regret, "Given the time constraints, this will have to do."

Wan Chu’er placed her items into Xiao Bai’s briefcase, and the two left the house, heading straight for their meeting place.

The car ride was a mere twenty minutes, and they arrived at their destination, a five-star hotel.

Xiao Bai looked up at the towering hotel building and said, "Just leave everything to Second Brother later, and I’ll see how I can get you a good price."

Xiao Bai was deeply grieved when Wan Chu’er previously disclosed her oral agreement with An Zihao to him. He condemned Wan Chu’er for her lack of business acumen, casually giving away fifty percent of the profits. Even if she had given away only twenty percent, there would be plenty of people in Beijing clamoring for a partnership.

Hearing Xiao Bai’s words, Wan Chu’er halted and obediently responded with an "Oh." Truthfully, she didn’t care about the fifty percent split; all she wanted was to seal the deal because she knew there wouldn’t be a shortage of money in the future.
