Chapter 504 - 504 499 Understanding Much More
Chapter 504: Chapter 499: Understanding Much More Chapter 504: Chapter 499: Understanding Much More In the evening, Mu Jiawen called Yang Dan, “What time is your train? I’m free tomorrow, I’ll come and pick you guys up.”
Yang Dan said with a bit of embarrassment, “No need for you to pick us up, Memberland is coming.”
Mu Jiawen: “…”
Unable to resist, she clicked her tongue, “Starting to make an impression already? Fine, someone knows how to seize the moment. Is it inconvenient for you to talk right now?”
In the main hall, Memberland was having dinner with her dad, her second brother, her sister, and her sister’s husband, while Yang Dan had taken her phone into her own room.
“It’s convenient now, go ahead,” she said.
“I just wanted to ask about his family. Since you have reached the stage of discussing marriage, I ought to know a bit about them, right?”
The main reason Mu Jiawen had this concern because Memberland’s family was in Beijing, close by, which made it easier for her to help out if needed.
The last time she found out they were together, she didn’t ask because she thought the two of them had only been together for over half a year. Plus, with Memberland’s ex-wife causing a stir, Mu Jiawen didn’t believe that Yang Dan hadn’t considered backing out.
But now, it seemed that Yang Dan had made a thoughtful decision.
“His family…” Yang Dan thought for a moment, carefully choosing her words, “should be all right, I guess. His mom and his sister came to the shop. They brought me gifts and chatted for a while before leaving. If Memberland hadn’t told me explicitly, I wouldn’t have noticed that his sister wasn’t his mother’s own child—they were arm in arm, almost like a real mother and daughter. He mentioned he has a brother too, also not born to his mom, a half-brother, but they get along really well.”
Mu Jiawen frowned slightly; it sounded a bit complicated to her.
Guessing her thoughts, Yang Dan chuckled, “Don’t worry about me. His family isn’t as complicated as you think, really. Both his mom and his sister seem very kind. Plus, his dad divided the estate early on, giving one portion to each of the three siblings. It was all very even and fair; no disputes or feelings of unfairness. There wasn’t any of that ‘evil stepmother fighting over the inheritance’ drama.”
“All right then, if you say so, I won’t worry about it anymore. But if something comes up, you have to tell me.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t hesitate to bother you.”
“‘Bother’ isn’t a word between us.”
The two of them chatted a bit more before finally hanging up.
Jiang Yan was sitting next to Mu Jiawen at that moment, with his computer on, looking at the new web page Du Fan had created when suddenly, the little penguin icon in the bottom right corner started hopping. He moved the mouse over and clicked on it on instinct. Then, an unexpected page popped up before his eyes.
Jiang Yan was startled, his face flushing at the graphic content on the screen. As Mu Jiawen put down her phone and turned her head his way, he hurriedly moved the mouse to close the window by hitting the cross in the top right corner.
But it was as if the thing was cursed; no matter how hard he tried, it wouldn’t respond.
Jiang Yan couldn’t help but curse in his mind, “Dammit, Du Fan, you look so honest, can’t even let out a few farts, but behind that facade, you’re just a sly dog. I asked you to make a proper shopping site, and you somehow managed to mess up with this on the side.”
“And you have the gall to send it to me, expecting me to sign off on it, huh?”
“Why don’t you swap the guy in this with yourself, huh?”
“I swear I’d plaster it on the front page and top story, broadcast it as an advert even during gaming streams, and loop it for three months!”
With a “snap,” unable to close the web page, Jiang Yan simply closed the laptop itself.
Mu Jiawen looked at him suspiciously, “Weren’t you going to show me your web page? Why did you close it?”
Jiang Yan, keeping a straight face, said, “That crap was slacking off, all blank on the back end, nothing good to see. I’ve already messaged them about it, demanding a redo!”
“Really?” Mu Jiawen clearly didn’t believe him, “But the first page looked fine to me, and I haven’t finished looking at it.”
As she spoke, she made a move to open the computer.
Jiang Yan’s hand covered hers, his eyes staring straight at her as he asked in a soft voice, “Baby, are you sure you want to see?”
Hearing him ask this, Mu Jiawen became even more curious, she scooted towards him, squeezing him to one side, then threw the back of her head at Jiang Yan and resolutely opened the computer.
“What’s this? Isn’t this just the same webpage as before?”
As soon as Jiang Yan heard this, he quickly peered over, only to see that his computer screen was clean, except for the shopping site previously browsed that was still an unfinished beta version, there was nothing else.
Damn, was there a timer set?
Mu Jiawen scrolled down with the mouse to the bottom, her eyes scanning over all the pages, a clear look of disappointment appeared on her face, is this all there is?
Jiang Yan didn’t miss the small expression on her face, and amusingly asked, “What do you want to see? I’ll help you find it.”
Mu Jiawen blinked, asking, “Do you know what I want to see?”
Jiang Yan was about to say, do you think I don’t know what Zhu Jin showed you?
Before he could speak, the little penguin icon in the lower right corner started jumping again, Jiang Yan’s eyelid twitched at the sight of Du Fan’s chuunibyou avatar. But before he could stop her, Mu Jiawen had already moved the mouse over and clicked on it.
[Was that good to watch? Want me to show you something more thrilling?]
No sooner had this sentence appeared than the computer’s webpage suddenly changed, revealing an indescribable real-life animated image in front of the two!
Luckily, Jiang Yan had remained silent, otherwise at this moment…
He turned his head to look at Mu Jiawen, whose face had turned red but her eyes hadn’t shifted away, and chuckled lightly, “Is this what you wanted to see just now?”
“Of course not!”
Though she said that, her gaze still lingered there, until a minute later the image automatically closed, and then she finally turned to look at Jiang Yan, “Why is your company researching this? Aren’t you afraid of getting shut down?”
“Who would bother with this, it’s all just Du Fan messing around after he’s had his fill. The guy is really a genius when it comes to computers. Didn’t I tell you before that a company wanted to buy our game? Not only was the price they offered too low, even if it were high, we wouldn’t sell. Then that company hired a hacker to break into our company’s internal systems, not sure what they wanted to do, but definitely nothing good. However, Du Fan’s firewall was strong enough, and as soon as the hacker breached the outer layer, he was discovered by Du Fan. Guess what happened next?”
“What happened?”
“Du Fan hacked back into that company’s system, and overnight destroyed all the files on their computers. In the end, he even sent the opposing hacker the letters ‘SB’.”
Mu Jiawen was surprised, “Du Fan knows hacking skills too?”
Jiang Yan nodded, “He taught himself, didn’t I tell you, the guy’s a genius.”
The guy hailed as a genius was once again hopping about in the bottom right corner, not waiting for Mu Jiawen to reach for the mouse, Jiang Yan was one step ahead and closed the laptop firmly, and said to her seriously, “It’s nine o’clock, time to wash up and go to bed.”
After saying that, he unplugged the internet cable, picked up the computer, and stood up to leave her room.
Mu Jiawen snickered behind him, “Sneak a look yourself, you’ll suffocate sooner or later.”
As if she didn’t understand anything, but in fact, she understood much more now!
