Rebirth: He Decides to Lie Flat
Chapter 369 - 369 364 Like Two Generations

Chapter 369: Chapter 364: Like Two Generations Chapter 369: Chapter 364: Like Two Generations The three of them left the restaurant, got into the car, and rode in silence all the way home; not a single person spoke. But once everyone was in the car, no one took the initiative to get out first.

Mo Wanyi gazed out the window at the swaying tree branches, feeling an unusual bitterness in her heart.

Did she hate Tan Min?

Of course she did. If Tan Min hadn’t approached Yu Zexiao before she did, Mo Wanyi would have had plans to discuss the matter with him. The Mo Family would not have allowed her to have a child out of wedlock, but she could have broken off her existing engagement to marry Yu Zexiao instead.

But she was a step too late; Tan Min had made the first move, and Yu Zexiao had agreed to marry her.

What could she do then?

Not having the heart to terminate her pregnancy, she had no choice but to discuss a sham marriage with Wei Shixue.

It wasn’t much of an issue for her; Wei Shixue could gain convenience and benefits from the Mo Family through her, so he dared not mistreat her, except later on when he disagreed about the divorce and wanted to control her. But Xiaoyue often suffered indignities at his hand, so when he brought a child he had out of wedlock into the home, she simply took her son and moved out.

Even so, Xiaoyue had significant psychological issues at the time, luckily she discovered it early and found a psychologist in time to help him.

“I’m sorry, I…”

Yu Zexiao wanted to say he truly had no recollection of that night; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been manipulated by Tan Min, not only bearing the shame for more than twenty years, but also missing out on his own biological son.

But before he could finish, Mo Wanyi interrupted, “You don’t need to apologize. You picked up the wrong glass that time. The drink was initially meant for me, but you accidentally drank it. Afterward, when I realized something was wrong, I tried to take you away. But I never expected that the juice I was drinking also had something in it; I barely managed to make it to your room…”

With her eyes closed, Mo Wanyi continued to reminisce, “After I left the next day, I went to see my second brother. You remember Rosas, the Chinese guy who organized the party that night, right?”

Yu Zexiao nodded, “I remember. He dropped out not long after the party, said there was a family emergency.”

“He was caught trafficking prohibited items.”

Yu Zexiao couldn’t quite describe how he felt; should he be grateful to Rosas for giving him such a wonderful son, or despise him for letting a woman like Tan Min cling to him for more than twenty years…

In the end, he could only sigh and say, “What’s in the past is in the past… Forget it, Wanyi. Let’s not think about it anymore. Anyway, I have to thank you. Honestly, I never imagined Xiaoyue would come to find me; it’s something I couldn’t even ask for. Maybe because he’s my own son, I liked him the moment I saw him. At that time, I thought, if he didn’t want to stay in the country, then I would go abroad with him. Really, I didn’t plan on being separated from Xiaoyue again.”

It was the first time Yu Yue heard such heart-stirring words from Yu Zexiao’s mouth, and his face showed some discomfort. From the recognition to the present, he still hadn’t once called him Dad, even though he had always tried to be as good to him as possible.

But that word was difficult to say out loud.

Blame his dad; why did he always dress so flamboyantly, looking almost younger than him?

Yu Yue cleared his throat to disguise the awkwardness on his face, “Um, Dad, Mom, let’s get out of the car first; we can talk about anything else when we get home.”

Mo Wanyi naturally opened the car door and stepped out, followed closely by Yu Yue from the front passenger seat, leaving Yu Zexiao alone, sitting dazedly in the driver’s seat, eyes wide in surprise as he looked at where Yu Yue had just sat.

It took a few seconds for him to come to his senses, then joyfully he got out of the car calling out to Yu Yue, “Son, say it again!”

Yu Yue ignored him and headed straight for the elevator, while Yu Zexiao excitingly asked Mo Wanyi behind him, “Did you hear that? Did you hear what your son just called me?”

The solemn atmosphere was completely scattered by Yu Zexiao’s excitement, and Mo Wanyi nodded with a smile, “I heard it, your son called you Dad.”

Yu Zexiao chuckled foolishly, his gaze towards Yu Yue was especially warm.

In the following days, the three of them visited several departments, and quickly got all the paperwork, household registration, and passports sorted out, but Mo Wanyi didn’t go back; she continued to stay at Yu Zexiao’s place.

After being idle for a few days, Yu Yue couldn’t sit still anymore and decided to take a trip to Beijing University.

He wasn’t planning to join any lab yet, just waiting for Yu Ci to come back and join his team. But that didn’t stop him from going to take a look.

After all, his mom was now being taken around by his dad, visiting various places and eating, and the two of them seemed to be quite happy.

He was already of age and didn’t think they necessarily had to be together; just being able to coexist peacefully like friends was enough.

However, that day, as he brought some groceries home and before he had a chance to sit down for a glass of water, he saw his mom storming in from outside. She walked past the living room, ignored him, and even let out a cold huff.

Yu Yue was puzzled. What happened?

His mom was usually soft-spoken and rarely got angry.

Could it be that his dad had upset her?

Yu Zexiao parked downstairs and came up after a while. He greeted his son cheerfully as he changed shoes at the door, “Son, did you meet your elder brother and Xiaosi at Beijing University? Oh right, Xiaosi is in the same major as you, you know that, right?”

Yu Yue didn’t respond to his question and instead asked, “What’s wrong with mom?”

“Your mom? Is she still angry?”

Yu Zexiao said in disbelief, “She’s been angry all the way, how can she still be angry? Ah, it was just a bit of truth somebody said, and she just…”

Suddenly, Mo Wanyi came running out of the bedroom. She flung open the door and shouted outside, “Yu Zexiao!”

Seeing her furious as if ready to bite someone, Yu Zexiao quickly hid behind Yu Yue and complained, “Why are you taking it out on me? It wasn’t me who said it…”

“You still bring it up!”

Mo Wanyi grabbed a throw pillow from the couch and threw it at him, which was caught by Yu Yue, who stood in front of him. He watched his mother throw her tantrum with amazement—it was quite a rare sight.

“What exactly happened?” Yu Yue was very curious.

“It’s just…”

“Don’t you dare say it.”

“Oh come on, your son isn’t an outsider, it’s okay for him to hear.”

“Still, you’re not to say it.”

Yu Zexiao found Mo Wanyi’s tabooed look on her face amusing and quickly blurted out while she wasn’t looking, “It’s just that when we were shopping, the shop owner complimented me and your mom just blew up. They said, ‘Your son is really handsome!’ Hahahaha…”

“You still laugh.”

Mo Wanyi was furious, grabbing another throw pillow and tossing it at him, “You’re in your forties, and you still dress so flamboyantly, aren’t you embarrassed?”

Yu Zexiao was wearing a hooded red sweatshirt and blue jeans that day. Thanks to staying fit, he maintained a very good figure, and at a glance, one might really think he was a twenty-something-year-old college student.

In contrast, Mo Wanyi was dressed in a decent brown leisure suit, with big wavy curls in her hair. Her skin was white, but there were fine lines at the corners of her eyes, and even the nasolabial folds were quite obvious.

Indeed, the two could easily be mistaken for being from two different generations.

But in reality, Yu Zexiao was only one year younger than Mo Wanyi.

Yu Yue looked at Yu Zexiao, who was smiling gleefully, and said helplessly, “Do you really want to be my mom’s son that much? Should I start calling you ‘brother’ from now on?”
