Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Seeing You Makes Me Want to Vomit
When the security guard clearly saw the two people in front of him, he froze on the spot.
"Mrs. Si, Mr. Si, what’s this..." he pointed at the villa, "have you bought a house here too?"
Si Yuhuan furrowed his brows slightly, clearly having no recollection of this person.
On the other hand, Jian Xi felt a twinge of guilt. "Cough cough, just bought it. Do you work here?"
This was the same security guard she had encountered previously when she had sneaked into Champagne Garden to catch her husband with another woman.
At that time, she had used her marriage certificate with Si Yuhuan to smoothly enter the villa complex, found evidence that Jiang Qimeng was staying there, and exposed the news of Jiang Qimeng seducing a married man, causing her career to nearly grind to a halt. Si Yuhuan had expended great effort to clear Jiang Qimeng’s name.
Consequently, Jiang Qimeng no longer had a luxury villa to live in and now had to make do with a shabby apartment.
"Do you know each other?" Si Yuhuan astutely perceived.
Before Jian Xi had a chance to deny it, the security guard said, "Yes, from Champagne Garden! Mrs. Si visited many times, and I was the one who opened the gate for her."
He looked proud and self-satisfied.
Jian Xi nodded, wishing she could bury her head in her chest.
Si Yuhuan shot him a chilling look.
Realizing he had said too much, the security guard quickly made an excuse and slipped away.
"Jian Xi, explain this to me. What do you mean by visiting Champagne Garden multiple times? Was the near ruin of Jiang Qimeng’s career prospects your doing?"
At the mention of that woman again, Jian Xi instantly seethed with anger.
"Yes, it was! It’s our marital property, so what’s wrong with me checking on it? You’re keeping a mistress outside, and I can’t even gather evidence? Si Yuhuan, if you dare lay a single finger on me, I’ll call the police! You’re having an affair and being violent towards me!"
Jian Xi watched him defensively, a far cry from the bold resolve she had shown just moments before.
Si Yuhuan was amused by her anger. He hadn’t realized she had so many little schemes.
He pushed Jian Xi aside and strode directly inside.
Jian Xi was stunned. "Hey, what are you doing?"
Is he not going to argue anymore?
"Sleeping."
"Here? At my place?"
Si Yuhuan, holding a bath towel, turned back and looked at her with disdain, as if she were a fool. "You said it yourself—it’s marital property. You have the right to go there and check, so naturally, I also have the right to come here and stay."
She had shot herself in the foot!
Jian Xi fumed.
Si Yuhuan finished his shower quickly and came out, but Jian Xi was nowhere to be seen.
"Jian Xi?"
He searched high and low but couldn’t find her.
Just as Si Yuhuan was about to go upstairs to change and go out to look for her, he saw the small woman curled up in a corner of the dark staircase, hugging her knees, as quiet as a porcelain doll.
Jian Xi was very beautiful. Her gorgeous, long curly hair was casually tied up, and her porcelain-white face was as delicate as a peeled egg even without makeup. Her slender figure was even more well-proportioned than a model’s. Even in pajamas, she was stunningly lovely.
Before, he couldn’t be bothered to give her a second glance, but now, the more he looked, the more he felt she possessed a unique allure. He had utterly despised her meekness before, yet now he found her assertiveness vexing.
Si Yuhuan, almost without hesitation, walked up and grabbed her hand. "Go back to the room and get some rest."
"What? You want to sleep with me again?" Jian Xi lifted her gaze to him, sneering coldly. "First Jiang Qimeng, now me? Don’t you feel you’re being utterly promiscuous, dirty, and disgusting?"
Her words ignited Si Yuhuan’s anger. He wanted to roar back that he had never slept with Jiang Qimeng, but he restrained himself. He couldn’t argue with someone suffering from depression!
"Your parents and brothers will worry if you continue like this."
"So, you’re afraid of them?"
Si Yuhuan’s face darkened with anger. "There’s no one in this world who can make me afraid."
He forgot that he was afraid of her depression, afraid she might be in mortal danger.
"So, you’d better behave and listen. Don’t force me to lose my temper, or the consequences will be severe."
He swept her up into his arms, placed her on the bed, and covered her with the duvet. "Sleep."
So domineering. Yet, she still couldn’t escape him. Why couldn’t the hallucination be real? How wonderful it would be if she were truly divorced! Then she could throw the divorce papers in his face and tell him to get lost; otherwise, he’d be breaking the law.
Jian Xi hugged the pillow resentfully. "Si Yuhuan, your clinginess truly makes me look down on you."
The man’s body tensed.
"And you keep staying over at my house, again and again. What, don’t you have a home? Are you that desperate for affection?"
The man behind her suddenly rolled over, pinning her beneath him, his dominant kiss catching her completely off guard.
All of Jian Xi’s whimpers were swallowed down.
Just as she was about to fight back desperately, Si Yuhuan rolled over again, lying beside her. "In this marriage, you have no right to criticize me. Remember, Jian Xi, you were the one who forced your way into my life."
Jian Xi choked, as if something were stuck in her throat. A bitter sensation welled up in her eyes, and buried memories resurfaced, assaulting her mind.
In college, she had set her heart on him from the very first glance. Under the setting sun, he wore an impeccable suit, looking sharp and bright. Every gesture exuded a captivating, noble dominance, like that of a deity. Her gaze followed him unwaveringly. No matter how many others made advances, she would simply say, "I will be Mrs. Si in the future." Back then, Jiang Qimeng wasn’t part of his life. Jian Xi believed that one day, her persistence would wear him down.
Only after they married did Jian Xi discover that Si Yuhuan had a "white moonlight"—Jiang Qimeng.
She heard that Si Yuhuan had pursued Jiang Qimeng for three years to no avail.
Rumor had it that Jiang Qimeng had forsaken Si Yuhuan for her studies.
But soon, Jiang Qimeng reappeared, returning to the public eye as a top internet influencer. In just one month, she gained tens of millions of followers, becoming a blogger with fifty million fans at almost rocket speed.
Jian Xi refused to believe this happened without Si Yuhuan pulling the strings.
She quickly found clues, and from then on, Si Yuhuan constantly found fault with her for Jiang Qimeng’s sake.
Initially, Jian Xi thought that since they were married, Si Yuhuan wouldn’t do anything too outrageous. She tried to befriend her rival, but Jiang Qimeng was too cunning. She played Jian Xi like a fiddle, even winning over every member of the Si Family except the grandfather, who all seemed to approve of her as Si Yuhuan’s rightful partner. As things progressed, Si Yuhuan’s favoritism towards Jiang Qimeng bordered on the pathological. They appeared in public as a couple, while she, the legitimate Mrs. Si, was slandered as someone desperately clinging to her position as the wealthiest man’s wife, a cuckoo occupying the nest...
Suddenly, Jian Xi felt nauseous. She quickly got up and ran to the bathroom, where she vomited violently.
Could it be that I ate too much earlier?
Si Yuhuan handed her a warm, damp towel. "What’s wrong?"
He had just read that vomiting could be a symptom of depression.
Jian Xi shot him a sidelong glance. "Having you sleep next to me makes me sick."
Si Yuhuan was speechless.
He silently picked up his duvet and went to the adjacent guest room.
Jian Xi could finally breathe freely.
But when she saw a cup of hot water by the bedside, her heart instantly froze.
What on earth is Si Yuhuan trying to do?
She felt completely unsettled.
She ran a hand through her disheveled hair, another wave of nausea hit her, and she rushed to vomit again.
