Chapter 269: Chapter 135: Quarrel (Part 2)
Shi Fengju’s expression darkened again, he grabbed her wrist and said: "Miss Wan, just how long are you going to be mad at me? What do I need to do for you to stop being angry?"
Sang Wan raised her head, her gaze was calm as she looked at Shi Fengju and smiled: "Young Master, you’re overthinking it. Miss Wan is fine, why would I be mad at the Young Master?"
Shi Fengju ran into a firm obstacle, he was so angry that he was at a loss for words, his breathing roughened as he stared at her. After a moment, he said: "You’re still holding a grudge against me, aren’t you? You won’t be satisfied unless my elder sister apologizes to you, is that it? I’ve told you before, you are the Shi family’s primary wife; it’s inevitable to suffer some grievances in daily life, why must you take it so seriously? My elder sister isn’t really a spiteful or evil person, she’s quite pitiful too, why can’t you just let it go this once? Plus, my mother has reprimanded her as well, hasn’t she stopped bothering you these past days? What exactly do you want to happen!"
That’s easy for you to say! Haven’t I given ground enough? What’s the outcome? They almost slapped me in the face! I tolerated their words, but why would they maliciously slander my second brother too? Your mother reprimanded her? Stop joking! Does your mother really care? Will she listen! It was because I retorted a few words that day that she restrained herself at all!
"I don’t hold any grudges against the Young Master, nor anyone else," Sang Wan said lightly: "Because blaming anyone is pointless; it would only make things uncomfortable for myself. Why would I do that? Besides, there’s no need for it! Young Master, you still remember our agreement, don’t you? It won’t be long before Miss Wan leaves the Shi family; why bother making each other unhappy over these trivial matters?"
"What did you say!" Shi Fengju’s heart suddenly felt a sharp pain, as if it had been severely struck, the pain was unbearable! She said it won’t be long before she leaves!
"You’ve always remembered this? Is it because of this reason that you," Shi Fengju’s face was livid as he pressed her word by word: "Is this why you’ve been so cold and indifferent towards me?"
"Doesn’t the Young Master remember?" Sang Wan met his gaze and said: "My departure will make everyone happy. All problems will cease to exist, isn’t that what the Young Master has always been looking forward to? Miss Wan believes that she has served the Young Master with all her heart and taken good care of him, fulfilling her duties as a wife. Yet the Young Master’s judgment of Miss Wan seems somewhat unfair!"
"Sang Wan, you’re good! Really good! You know how to twist the knife in someone’s heart! I really didn’t see it coming, I truly didn’t!" Shi Fengju was so angry he didn’t know what to say, glaring at Sang Wan, "Sang Wan, I tell you, just because of those few sentences, I, as the master, will specifically not allow you to leave! I want to see what you can do about it!"
Sang Wan’s face changed abruptly, she shook her head and said: "No! You’ve always been a man of your word; you won’t go back on it!"
Seeing her face change at the mention of not being allowed to leave, Shi Fengju grew even more furious, and sneered: "What if I do go back on it, what can you do about it? Humph! If I don’t acknowledge it, it never happened! Isn’t that right, Sang Wan?"
"You!" Sang Wan was both angry and anxious, but she didn’t have any way to deal with him. Indeed, if only the two of them knew about it and he refused to acknowledge it, then it didn’t happen! She really couldn’t do anything about it!
"What about me?" Shi Fengju’s eyes were filled with hostility as he said hatefully: "Aren’t you supposed to fulfill a wife’s responsibilities? It seems like you’ve yet to fulfill the greatest responsibility! To think you’d enter the door of the Shi family and leave so easily? Sang Wan, you’re underestimating me, Shi Fengju, too much!"
Shi Fengju suddenly pushed her back and pressed down, gazing down at her with a menacing tone: "Give me a son, after you have a son, then if you want to leave, I won’t stop you! But for now, don’t even think about it!"
"You’re crazy! Let me go!" Sang Wan had never seen such a side of Shi Fengju before, her face turned pale, and fear filled her eyes.
Shi Fengju sneered, and lowered his head to fiercely kiss her lips.
"Don’t!" Sang Wan was startled and struggled fiercely, turning her head to avoid his kiss, while pushing and hitting with her hands trying to push him off her.
Shi Fengju had lost his rationality in his anger, the more she struggled and panicked, the angrier he became. Annoyed by her hands getting in the way, he forcefully grabbed them and pressed them down. Unexpectedly, he had grabbed Sang Wan’s injured hand, causing the blisters on her fingers to burst open and the raw skin on the back of her hand to tear painfully; coupled with unbearable shame, Sang Wan burst into tears and began to cry loudly.
"My hand, my hand!" Sang Wan was filled with shame, anger, and pain, wishing she could just find a hole to crawl into.
Shi Fengju suddenly came to his senses, startled, and hurriedly let her go.
"Miss Wan! I—"
Sang Wan quickly got up and moved aside, then with the back of her hand delivered a slap to Shi Fengju’s face, crying bitterly, "Get out, go away! I don’t want to see you ever again!"
Shi Fengju was stunned, seeing that Sang Wan’s hair was disheveled, her face flushed with embarrassment and tears, her hands looking even more dreadful. For a moment, he felt immense regret and, stomping his foot, he turned and rushed out.
The commotion in the room had not gone unnoticed by Mrs. Li and the others waiting outside. Hearing Sang Wan crying and shouting, their hearts were gripped with anxiety, Liu Ya could hardly restrain herself from rushing in but was stopped by a stern look from Mrs. Li. Seeing the Young Master leave Ningyuan without a word, everyone was taken aback; they couldn’t care less about what the Young Master was doing and hurried into the warm pavilion.
"Madam! Are you alright?" Seeing Sang Wan in such a disheveled state, everyone’s face turned pale with fright, and Mrs. Li rushed to exclaim first, "What on earth happened!"
"Mrs. Li!" Sang Wan threw herself into Mrs. Li’s arms and wept, her tears unstoppable.
