She boarded the decrepit sedan chair; the curtain fell, and the carriers lifted it gently, swaying and stepping towards Qingzhou City. Inside the sedan, Gu Fangzi felt somewhat dazed and lost. Is this her actually getting married?

As the sedan stopped, Lan Xiang hurried forward to lift the curtain and helped Gu Fangzi down from the sedan. Instead of festive colors, the sight that met her eyes was even more cold and desolate than before.

After a moment of stunned realization, Gu Fangzi suddenly understood what was wrong! The rows of luridly colored lanterns with dangling tassels that used to hang along the corridors had all disappeared, and all the brightly colored potted flowers that were placed around the courtyard and steps were gone too! In their place were white and yellow chrysanthemums—no wonder the courtyard felt so uncomfortable to look at!

"Cousin Miss, do you have any further instructions? If not, we old servants will leave first," Aunt Wu said, rubbing her hands together.
