Chapter 134: Chapter 67: Don’t Make Me Look Down on You Again_2
He silently smiled bitterly, haphazardly dressed, and went out the door.
Last night he was drunk as a lord, today although he got up late, the maids did not mind it, however, seeing the young master so disheveled from drinking but still awake, while his wife who had not drunk was still asleep, did put some confusion in the eyes of the maids.
Shi Fengju felt a bit guilty and coughed unnaturally before stating: "Miss Wan is exhausted, don’t disturb her, let her sleep a bit more!"
The maids then had an epiphany, and quietly responded "Yes," serving Shi Fengju to wash up and not mentioning anything further.
Mrs. Li inevitably kept nagging him about not taking care of himself by drinking so much, Shi Fengju patiently promised again and again that he would never do it again before Mrs. Li let the matter rest. She also asked him if he was feeling unwell? Was his head still dizzy, does it hurt? Shi Fengju quickly responded with a laugh saying all was well. Still uneasy, Mrs. Li had someone bring the hangover soup and forced Shi Fengju to drink it down before she gave up.
"Does the young master want to have breakfast first, or wait for Miss Wan?" Xingzhi stepped forward and asked.
Unable to help himself, Shi Fengju glanced towards the bedroom, thought of Sang Wan and felt another surge of complicated emotions, he waved his hand and said: "Bring it now! For Miss Wan—" He stopped mid-sentence realizing he didn’t know what she liked to eat or her preferences, thinking about how she always carefully arranged his meals, Shi Fengju felt even worse.
"Whatever Miss Wan likes to eat, tell the kitchen to prepare it for her. By the way, stew a bowl of premium blood bird’s nest for her and serve it when she wakes up."
Everyone was stunned: Since when did the young master care about these trivial matters?
This momentary silence made the already sensitive Shi Fengju extremely embarrassed, and he coughed heavily in discomfort.
The maids snapped out of their reverie. Mrs. Li immediately tightened her face and scolded: "What are you standing around for? Didn’t you hear the young master? Hurry down!"
"Yes!" Everyone hastily dispersed.
Shi Fengju ate breakfast absentmindedly, tasting no flavor as if chewing on wax.
"Is the young master’s appetite not good? Is it because this morning’s preparation didn’t suit your taste?" Mrs. Li asked with concern.
Shi Fengju quickly smiled and said: "No, I, I am done!"
"But young master, you only had a little bit," Mrs. Li said with undoubted concern, "It must be because you drank too much last night that you’ve lost your appetite! Hong Ye, bring another bowl of hangover soup!"
Hearing this, Shi Fengju felt a wave of dizziness, the taste of the hangover soup really wasn’t good at all! Being force-fed bowl after bowl, when had the wet nurse become so uncaring towards him?
"No need, no need anymore!" Shi Fengju quickly stood up: "I am going to see Miss Wan, I’ll have an appetite after that!"
Mrs. Li wanted to persuade him further, but seeing his resolve, she relented and nodded with a smile, "Last night you were so drunk, Miss Wan took care of you all night and must be exhausted, spending time with her is also good!"
Shi Fengju agreed with a smile, turned around, and entered the bedroom again.
Sang Wan was still lying on her side facing inward, she heard footsteps and lightly raised her eyebrows, gently calling out: "Liu Ya?"
"It’s me." Shi Fengju walked over, and sat on the edge of the bed.
Sang Wan stiffened but did not turn around, "Does the young master have something else to do?"
"Yes!" Shi Fengju said seriously, "I indeed have something to discuss with you."
Sang Wan’s lips slightly moved, lightly stating, "Then speak."
Shi Fengju, who had been mulling over the words in his heart for a while, finally gathered his courage and said: "Miss Wan, about last night, I will take responsibility."
What! Sang Wan suddenly sat up, her beautiful starry eyes shimmering with unshed tears, "What did you say?"
"I said, I will take responsibility for you, Miss Wan!" Shi Fengju felt a huge relief. No matter what, he was wrong last night, since he had wronged her, he could not run away, and he definitely could not aggrieve her.
"Let’s never mention our previous agreement again, you will always be Shi Fengju’s legitimate wife! This time, I will not break my promise again!" Shi Fengju spoke hurriedly. After finishing, his heart felt a sense of relief as if unloading a long-standing heavy stone.
"No!" Sang Wan’s gaze turned cold, she looked down and said indifferently, "I do not understand what the young master is talking about! What responsibility? What does this have to do with Miss Wan?"
"Miss Wan, I know I should not have when I was drunk last night—"
"Indeed you were drunk last night!" Sang Wan interrupted him, calmly stating word by word, "You were so drunk last night that you were unconscious, and then fell asleep, that’s all."
She should be happy, shouldn’t she? Hearing him say this, she no longer had to worry about the future, nor be concerned about the Sang family being talked about! But she was not willing, she simply was not willing.
Having already suffered through one lifetime, she did not want to be so entangled and in pain anymore. What use were his sweet words? She trusted him, but Gu Fangzi had ways to make him betray his own will!
As long as Gu Fangzi was still here, as long as this family had Gu Fangzi, then there would never be peace for her! She did not want to fight with her for a lifetime! It was too tiring, why bother?
"Are you still angry with me?" Shi Fengju became agitated, unable to help but grasp her shoulders with both hands, "Miss Wan, I am sorry! I apologize to you!"
"You did nothing wrong, I am not angry!" Sang Wan forcefully shook off his hands, "I only hope that the young master does not forget what he once promised me! Do not let me, look down on you!"
Shi Fengju’s face turned ashen in an instant, no one had ever spoken to him like this before, ever! He stared disbelievingly at Sang Wan’s face, unable to believe that those words came from her lush, red lips.
She’d rather deceive herself than let him take responsibility, she was set on leaving him.
Shi Fengju felt a sour and bitter restlessness in his heart, with a jealously growing quietly. He didn’t know what he was jealous of, he only knew, once she said she still wanted to leave, he felt an indescribable discomfort.
"As you wish!" Shi Fengju gritted his teeth, his face cold, suddenly stood up, and stormed out. Yet he did not know that behind him, two streams of tears were silently slipping down Sang Wan’s face, gently gliding across her snow-white cheeks.
