Chapter 241: Xavier Finally Learn the Truth (1)
Lucian didn’t answer her. He just gave a slight nod before he vanished from the room.
Iris couldn’t help but smile when she saw Lucian leave in such a way. Without lingering, she rushed to the door, eager to find Xavier and share what she heard from Lucian.
However, before she could reach the door, Xavier’s voice rang in her mind, ’Darling, please wait for me. I’ll speak with Lucian before he departs.’
Her steps halted as her smile slowly appeared, ’Oh... Alright. Take your time, Xavier,’ she replied in her mind. Then, she walks to their bedroom.

Meanwhile, atop the mountain peak behind his house, Xavier stood on a vast rock gazing toward the city of Willow Town.
The sky had darkened, leaving only the moon to illuminate the area. The night creatures’ voices echoed around the mountain, yet he paid them no heed. His mind was busy with the conversation he had just heard between Lucian and Iris.
He felt immense joy knowing about his engagement with Iris in the Middle Realm. However, something troubled him deeply; he suspected that Lucian hadn’t entirely revealed the truth to Iris.
Determined to find out, he resolved to speak with Lucian again, hoping to get a clear answer this time.
Before long, Lucian appeared next to him.
Lucian glanced at Xavier before following his gaze toward the distant city lights. After a few more seconds, he finally spoke, "My friend, why do you wear such a somber expression after hearing what you wanted?"
Xavier slowly turned to face Lucian. "I know you didn’t tell her the whole story, Lucian. Why are you hiding something from her?"
Lucian chuckled inwardly. He had already anticipated that Xavier would ask about it.
"I refrained from telling the whole story because... observing her joy, I found myself unable to spoil her happiness. If you witnessed her happiness, you would choose the same as I am..." Lucian explained, a faint smile gracing his face as he turned to gaze at the distant scenery, evading Xavier’s puzzled gaze.
Taking a deep breath, Xavier became lost in his thoughts. He attempted to connect the dots between what he had just heard and his memories. Yet, before he could clarify something with Lucian, he heard him speak again.
"You are the most intelligent individual I have ever encountered. I believe you’ve already pieced together what happened back then..." Lucian’s voice caused Xavier to flinch.
Indeed, Lucian’s words were accurate. He had already deduced various possibilities. However, for unknown reasons, every scenario that crossed his mind filled him with unsettling fear, preventing him from thinking about it further.
Xavier let out a deep sigh, feeling a sense of frustration. He didn’t rush to respond to Lucian’s sentence.
He was silent, trying to sort out the correct sentence to say. So, Lucian could answer without being affected by the barrier preventing him from telling the truth.
After a while, he finally figured out how to communicate with Lucian, hoping to get what he wanted to hear.
He looks at him, "Lucian if you can’t answer what I want to hear, you just need to nod if you can. If you can’t do that either, blink your eyes or don’t say anything."
"Go on, try!" Lucian nodded, feeling tense, waiting for Xavier’s question. He wanted to be honest with his best friend, but this shield that prohibited him from telling Xavier the truth was strong; he couldn’t break it.
"The reason she died..." Xavier’s hands were tightly clenched before he finished his sentence. "Is it related to him? The Demon King!?"
Lucian was slightly surprised to hear Xavier’s question.
’Indeed, he wouldn’t possibly be God’s favorite child if he couldn’t solve a riddle as simple as this.’ Lucian could only praise Xavier in his heart before he nodded slowly.
Xavier felt his cold heart tighten.
"H-He..." Xavier’s voice trembled slightly. "He kidnapped her and killed her, only to make me angry?"
Lucian opened his mouth, but before he could utter a word, the night wind suddenly passed, pushing him back and almost causing him to fall. Startled, he looked in the direction the wind was coming from but found nothing.
"Someone here!? Why do I feel someone attacking me with strong wind?" Lucian asked, confused. He looked at Xavier, surprised to see him seemingly unaffected by the strong wind.
"What wind? I didn’t even feel any wind blowing," Xavier frowned, looking at Lucian, who appeared confused and shocked.
After scanning the area, Lucian tried to recheck his surroundings but couldn’t detect anything suspicious. He saw only some night creatures a few miles from where they were.
Pushing aside his strange feeling, he looked back at Xavier.
"No. The Demon King didn’t steal her—" Lucian gasped in shock when he realized he could actually communicate with Xavier. Usually, he couldn’t even hear his own voice. But just now, he clearly listened to his own voice.
"X-Xavier... did you hear what I said?" Lucian excitedly asked.
Xavier frowned, confused by Lucian’s peculiar behavior. "Why do you look weird tonight, Lucian!? Something happened to you?" When he saw Lucian give him a deadpan expression, he continued, "No. I can’t hear you. What are you saying?"
"Heaven!! I thought you could hear me. Can’t you read my lips too?" Lucian asked again. He was sure this time differed from before when they discussed this topic.
"I didn’t even see you when you spoke. Try it again!"
Lucian sighed deeply before he said, "Fine! You have to see my mouth. If no sound comes out, at least you can read my lips. Are you ready?"
After he saw Xavier nod, he said, "The Demon King didn’t steal Lady Iris. But she is the one who went to meet him. And that time, she died in his land..." Lucian paused when he saw Xavier’s expression turn dark. "You hear what I’m saying!?"
Xavier shook his head to answer him, "But I could read your lips. Continue to tell me what you know!" he ordered.
Lucian was completely relieved. Finally, he was able to convey everything to Xavier. And this man would no longer stress him every day.
