Chapter 230: Iris’ Question Shocked Him
Xavier gently touched his wife’s cheek and remarked, "Seems like my wife can’t wait to consume our wedding night!?"
Iris, "..."
"Please, be patient, alright!?" Looking into her beautiful, deep blue eyes, Xavier continued, "My darling wife, I’ve found a solution for us to stay together forever..."
Iris’s beautiful eyelashes flatter, her lips breaking into a spring-like smile.
"R-Really? X-Xavier, I can become immortal without turning into a vampire like you!?" she asked again, seeking confirmation of his words.
"Yes, absolutely," Xavier lovingly smiled back at her. "You can become immortal, and you can bear our children..."
Iris’s face flushed upon hearing those words. However, her happiness slowly dimmed when she remembered a child in her life. She adored young children, but after experiencing such unusual circumstances, caring for a toddler like Justin made her question whether having a child was the right choice.
Just a few months of trying to take care of Justin makes her exhausted and with frequent headaches. What if she had to care for her child in the future, requiring even more time to grow up?
Her blood ran cold at the thought. She couldn’t bear to imagine it, not at this moment.
"Darling, you seem unhappy?" Xavier worriedly observed the slow change in her expression. There was a lack of happiness as if it had been stolen from her.
He began to recall his earlier words, and after a few seconds of thought, he was stunned.
"You don’t want to have my child, Iris?" His question held a deep concern. What if... she didn’t want to?
Iris, who was lost in thoughts about the mischievous Justin, was suddenly brought back by his question.
"W-What? Of course not..." She quickly responded, trying to adjust her expression, pushing the thought about Justin aside. "Xavier, why would you assume that?"
"My dear, because your eyes say so..." Xavier slowly touched her cheek, gently rubbing it with his thumb to feel her warmth.
Xavier felt like he had discovered a new hobby—touching her warm skin, especially her blushing cheeks. He found her adorable when her cheeks blushed like they did now. It was challenging to avert his gaze from her; he simply wanted to look at her.
Iris faintly smiled.
Looks like she couldn’t hide it from him. "Well, I do want to bear your child. But after these last few months, witnessing how Silvana took care of Justin and being involved in his care, I started to reconsider whether having children was the right choice. Justin is too naughty, even Gavriel sometimes expresses want to give up to handle him—"
Xavier, initially worried, suddenly found her reason amusing. He couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
"Hahaha, my darling... don’t compare our future child with that useless Justin. He was so foolish that he couldn’t even withstand the dark witch’s attack. Even you managed to hold it..." Xavier said, pulling her to sit on his lap. He feels joyful at the thought of Iris giving birth to their children in the future.
...
Iris smiled upon hearing his words, yet she found herself too shy to respond. Instead, she nestled herself into his arms. However, moments later, Iris recalled Xavier’s mention of the Dark Witch who attacked Justin.
She found it weird because, during her missions, she had never encountered that individual, as if the witch and the Demon had vanished from the earth. Their sudden disappearance troubled her deeply because it hindered her quest for revenge.
If she and Gavriel failed to locate them, she believed Xavier might pick up their trail, as he was also pursuing the individual who attacked them that night.
Iris sat up straighter to meet his gaze. "Xavier, have you found the person who attacked Justin?"
Her question made Xavier straighten his back. These past few months had left him uneasy; he hadn’t found what he sought: The Demon and the Dark Witch. His frustration brewed as he realized his fruitless search across the earth mirrored Lucian’s inability to uncover any clues about them.
Xavier grew suspicious that their presence had been detected, prompting The Demon and The Dark Witch to escape from this continent and a successful hideaway.
He shook his head slowly, tenderly smoothing his hair before finally answering her, "I haven’t found any trace of them. It seems they’re hiding very well," his sentence halted when he noticed her shoulders slumping slightly.
"My darling wife, don’t worry. I’ll track them down and ensure they pay for what they did to Justin and you..." Xavier continued, his gentle eyes turning sharp.
Iris could only nod at his promise. She realized that finding the person who attacked Justin wouldn’t be easy; it seemed they were aware of being pursued.

That evening, after dinner.
Irish and Xavier were cuddling in their bedroom, ready to sleep, when suddenly Iris remembered Killian’s visit earlier that day.
"Xavier, may I ask?" She looked at him lying beside her; his eyes were closed, facing the ceiling above.
"Hmm, what is it?" He responded without opening his eyes.
"Why did Killian suddenly come to this city?" Iris continued after Xavier finally glanced at her. "Did something happen to the company?" she asked worriedly.
Xavier didn’t immediately reply. He took a moment, searching for the right words to explain without shocking her with Killian’s true identity.
"Besides Killian managing the company, he also holds a significant role in this lower realm—" Xavier paused, noticing her frown deepen.
He chuckled softly while gently stroking her forehead. "Stop doing that, or wrinkles will appear on your face."
"Could you explain to me? What role does Killian play in this lower realm?" Iris asked, genuinely curious.
"He decides many things in this lower realm..." Xavier explains everything to her.
Iris was shocked. She had never imagined that Killian had such a significant role among human beings in this lower realm.
Before long, another curiosity struck Iris. She gently touched his face to make him look into her eyes. "And what about you? What brings you here, Xavier?"
