Chapter 209: Demon’s Nest

Chapter 209: Demon’s Nest

In a remote, forsaken town, Xavier appeared above a decrepit building.

He lingered, silently observing the city below, a desolate expanse resembling a ghost town.

The cityscape lay shrouded in darkness, untouched by the feeble glow of a half-moon. No gleaming lights pierced the pitch-black night, and an unsettling silence hung in the air.

There was an eerie absence of sound—the usual hum of passing vehicles or the distant echo of human voices. Not even the nocturnal creatures dared disturb the oppressive silence. The atmosphere in this forsaken place was a haunting quiet.

Amidst this profound silence, the only audible presence was the ghostly whisper of leaves stirring with the touch of the wind. Yet, the absence of city lights did not hinder Xavier; the emptiness only sharpened his senses. In mere minutes, he spots his target.

A fierce, murderous aura emanated from him as his golden eyes gradually turned crimson red. Enveloped by a dark aura, he vanished from his place and reappeared a few miles away in an abandoned building. Slowly, he closed his eyes to sense his surroundings.

"You’re tardy!" Xavier’s cold voice echoed without him turning from the house ahead.

At the same time, Lucian appeared beside him, his long black robe fluttering slightly in the wind. Glancing at Xavier, who displayed no expression, Lucian could tell that Xavier’s lethal aura was exceptionally potent.

"Have you located them?" Lucian asked.

"Yes, they conceal themselves adeptly beneath the earth," Xavier replied, gesturing for Lucian to follow him into the ancient stone-built house. The door was not secured, rendering it easily accessible for them.

Even though the surroundings were dark, the two of them could see with their divine eyes clearly, as if they were walking during the day.

They found themselves in an empty room where no piece of furniture was visible, causing Xavier to halt in the center. He scanned the surroundings and fixed his gaze on one of the white walls at the room’s end.

’No wonder they are elusive. A potent magical barrier envelopes this place,’ Xavier communicated to Lucian through his mind, cautious not to attract the enemy’s attention.

’I can sense it. Can you handle it?’ Lucian asked.

’I will take care of it,’ Xavier assured, glancing at Lucian, who stood with a furrowed brow beside him. ’You better conceal yourself; do not allow them to escape because of our presence,’ he warned.

Xavier hadn’t expected to discover the Demon nest in this empty city, as he sensed nothing when he last visited a hundred years ago. He assumed this Demon had recently taken residence in the area. If they hadn’t been so conspicuously visible everywhere, Xavier wouldn’t have grown suspicious, and his return to this place might not have occurred.

What troubled Xavier now was understanding why these Demons had appeared, considering they had been hiding for so long. He looked for answers.

His hands swung gracefully in the air while his mouth recited a spell; instantly, the white wall transformed into a door, revealing a staircase behind it.

The white wall transformed into a door, revealing a staircase leading to the underground behind it. Xavier immediately walked towards the stairs, and Lucian trailed behind him. The ladder continued downwards, deeper into the earth.

After several seconds, they finally arrived at an open area. Its vast expanse resembled a large cave with gray stone surroundings. It would be entirely dark if not for a hole above the cave through which the moonlight could shine.

’No one here!?’ Lucian frowned, surveying the empty place.

’Do you not possess the ability, God Eyes?’ Xavier asked, confused by Lucian’s question. He thought Lucian could see some Demon behind the enormous dark rock in the corner.

’I do, but I haven’t looked more carefully. Not yet,’ Lucian responded casually. He could see it but simply wanted to engage in conversation and understand Xavier’s plan.

’Behind the dark rock, there’s another empty room. It appears these demons are taking a rest,’ Xavier explained. Without waiting for Lucian’s response, he immediately walked towards the rock.

Upon reaching the rock, Xavier leaped onto the top stone to survey the surroundings.

He was surprised to see many demons in human form and a few in their original shapes, taking a rest and engaging in conversation. The place resembled a vast cafeteria with a few seating areas in various corners.

’Why are there so many of them?’ Lucian expressed concern. ’Do they have the same plan as they executed in the middle realm?’

Xavier remained silent, his face betraying a hardening expression, realizing that the appearance of several Demons in the last few months had something to do with his enemy. He was sure of that.

He looked at Lucian, ’Have you ever wondered if he is still alive, and now he is building his army?’

Suddenly, Lucian’s body stiffened. He felt his blood run cold, comprehending the meaning of Xavier’s question.

’But you’ve already killed him. He’s supposed to be dead?’ A thick frown appeared on Lucian’s forehead, and his eyes flashed with worry.

Lucian glanced at Xavier, observing him standing gracefully while staring at the Demons with his hands linked behind him. He appeared calm, yet his killing intent felt formidable.

’So, what would you do?’ Lucian asked.

After a pause, Xavier turned to Lucian. ’Let’s clean them all. They do not belong to this realm...’

A wide smile graced the edge of Lucian’s lips upon hearing that. After so many years, they had come to this lowly realm. This was the first time he would witness Xavier in this spirited state since their last battle.

’Considering it done!’ Lucian exclaimed. However, before leaping from the rock, Xavier issued a warning.

’Be careful with hellfire, my friend; a few Demons possess it. If you notice it, freeze them. I need to check something...’ Xavier said, then vanished from the rock.

Xavier appeared near a group of Demons engaged in earnest conversation. They were shocked to see the figure of a tall, pale-faced man with crimson eyes appearing in their midst.
