Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife -
Chapter 58: Blamed (2)
Chapter 58: Blamed (2)
Beatrix shifted her irritated gaze to the man who had slapped her friends, but she was taken aback when she glimpsed his features.
For a moment, she stood in a trance, staring at him. Earlier, she had been upset with Aurora and had paid little attention to her surroundings.
’When did this man start attending our university? Wait, is he a friend of Aurora’s? But why have I never seen him before?’
"What are you doing, Beatrix? How dare you slander Aurora with your foolish words!" David’s voice was filled with anger, pulling Beatrix away from Josh.
David could no longer tolerate hearing her speak badly about Aurora.
Beatrix turned to see David and was taken aback. "David, are you still here?" she asked, bewildered.
David’s jaw dropped at her question. He couldn’t believe this woman hadn’t even noticed he was there.
"What the heck, Beatrix! Did you really not notice me, or are you just trying to make excuses?"
"No, I truly didn’t see you..." she responded swiftly. Aware that David continued to follow Aurora everywhere, she grew increasingly annoyed.
"David, why are you still chasing after Aurora? You need to wake up... stop pursuing her. This girl will never accept your feelings; if anything, she just wants to toy with your heart and take your money..."
"Can you stop talking? You sound envious and stupid!" David snapped.
"What did she do to you that made you act like her dog?" Beatrix’s lips curled into a teasing smile, provoking David’s anger to erupt.
While Beatrix and David continued to spar verbally, Aurora smiled silently. She gestured to Josh with her eyes, asking him to leave. She didn’t have time to engage with this group of young people.
However, Beatrix’s loud voice echoed from behind before they could walk far.
"Oh my God, Aurora! Are you trying to run away from me? Stop, Aurora..." Beatrix shouted as she hurried after Aurora, all her friends tailing behind.
"Stop right there, Aurora Spencer, or I’ll..." Beatrix’s movement ceased as Aurora halted and turned to face her.
Beatrix’s eyes were fixed sharply on Aurora, and she felt her blood boiling.
’Where did Aurora find the confidence to stare back at me with such a fiery gaze?’ Beatrix was puzzled.
This was the first time she had seen Aurora display such self-assuredness. Typically, Aurora would apologize even when it wasn’t her fault and walk away from confrontations.
’Is she embarrassed because Max humiliated her a few days ago? Or is it because of David?’ Beatrix wondered. She glanced at David and was taken aback by his angry expression.
Just as Beatrix was about to remind David of the situation, she thought, ’Oh my, seriously? Aurora has accepted David? That must be why he can’t leave her, and this foolish Aurora suddenly has confidence!’
A crisp laugh escaped Beatrix’s lips as she glanced back at Aurora.
"Hey, Aurora, did you accept David immediately after Max dumped you? Is that why you seem so bold in front of me?"
Aurora took a deep breath to steady her thoughts. "Stop talking nonsense. What do you want from me, Beatrix?"
"What do I want from you?" Beatrix echoed Aurora’s question, slightly raising her upper lip to form a smirk. "Stop pretending to be a good girl. After Max, you went after David, and now this handsome man beside you is your next target, right?"
Aurora was speechless. Did this girl leave her brain at home? Why couldn’t she understand my simple question?
"Aurora, you’re merely a poor girl from the village. You wouldn’t have been admitted to this university if it weren’t for the scholarship. You know this place only accepts students from affluent families, correct?"
"Beatrix, stop talking to this trash! Can you just end it with a slap? Because of her, Max is traumatized to start a new relationship..." one of Beatrix’s female friends chimed in.
"Yes, Betty. Let’s finish quickly. There are so many eyes staring at us now," Beatrix’s male friend reminded her. As he looked around, he felt uneasy under their gaze.
Beatrix was stunned when she looked at her surroundings. She hadn’t expected the cafeteria to become so lively. She even noticed a few people starting to record them.
Clenching her hands tightly, she gazed back at Aurora.
"You asked what I want? I only need you to make an announcement on your Instagram and campus forum to apologize to Max for the trauma he suffered and to promise that you will never pursue him again."
Aurora could hardly contain her laughter at Beatrix’s absurd requests. Max, traumatized because she pursued him? This was the biggest joke she had ever encountered in her life.
"And why should I do that?" Aurora asked.
Before Beatrix could respond, the girl beside her interrupted with annoyance.
"Bitch, why do you ask again? It’s because Max is too traumatized to accept other women. This is all your fault! For three years, you’ve been blindly loving him, making him disgusted with other women..."
"Yes, that’s right!" Beatrix agreed, nodding. "That’s why you need to apologize and make a public announcement. Do it in front of me. I want to see you type your apology online," she commanded, her tone sharp and her gaze fixed on Aurora like a dagger.
The room fell silent as Beatrix finished speaking.
Josh and David, who also wanted to silence Beatrix and her friends, shifted their focus to Aurora. Upon seeing Aurora’s confidence, they felt it was not the right moment to intervene. Both were curious to see what she would do.
Rather than feeling intimidated, Aurora had to suppress her laughter.
It was amusing to watch this foolish person fight over their crushes. She felt she was too old to be involved in such drama.
’Goodness, this girl’s thinking is completely unreasonable. How can she blame me for Max rejecting her? How ridiculous!’
Aurora initially refused to respond to Beatrix, but seeing how foolish Beatrix was and noticing how many people were recording them, she knew she couldn’t let this girl take the stage, achieve what she wanted, and humiliate her in public.
A faint smile appeared on Aurora’s lips as she watched Beatrix look at her triumphantly.
"Beatrix, what if I refuse?" Aurora asked calmly.
