Chapter 52: No One Will Believe Her!
Chapter 52: No One Will Believe Her!
Hearing David’s words, Aurora couldn’t help but laugh to herself.
He was right. How could anyone believe she was married when she didn’t even have a wedding ring?
The thought of asking Alex for a wedding ring made her stomach swirl.
She feels overwhelmed with emotion when she’s picturing herself asking Alex for a wedding ring.
It was more convenient for her to let David—or anyone else—disbelieve she was married than to ask Alex for a wedding ring.
"Geez, David, how do you know I was joking?" Aurora laughed playfully. She hoped David wouldn’t faint if he saw her at the Graystone family gathering.
"Of course, I won’t believe it. I’ve known you for too long, girl," he replied with a grin while rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh, right, David. Can you send me the info about the exam?"
"Sure, I’ll email it to you asap..."
They briefly discussed the exam before Aurora excused herself.
When Aurora entered the car, she saw Josh busy with his cell phone.
"Ma’am, where are we headed now?" Josh asked, glancing at her before fastening his seatbelt.
"Nubox Junction! I need to get some supplies..." Aurora replied casually, yet Josh was taken aback by her response.
"Did you say Nubox Junction, Ma’am?" Josh asked, worried that he might have misheard.
He knew that Nubox Junction was an underground market for electronics and computers—only nerds, computer aficionados, hackers, and a few regular people would visit it to get electronics and computer supplies.
’Why would she want to buy a computer on the black market instead of at a regular computer store?’ Josh wondered as he started the car engine.
...
A few minutes earlier, at Stardust Group,
Alex paused briefly before heading to the meeting room after receiving several texts from Josh.
"Boss, you won’t believe what I discovered. David Morisson is in the same class as the Young Madam."
"What’s even more shocking is that David has feelings for your wife."
"Boss, don’t be shocked. Your wife has a man she likes named Max, but don’t worry—I’ve heard that Max rejected her."
Alex frowned as he read Josh’s last text message. He quickly replied, "Where are you now?"
"We are still in the campus parking lot. Right now, your wife is talking to David. I think he is expressing his feelings to her. Do you want me to take care of David?"
Alex sighed profoundly and pinched the bridge of his nose. After a moment, he typed another reply: "No. Don’t do anything."
Just as Alex was about to slide his cell phone under his suit, another text arrived.
"Boss, you need to do something. Your wife is actually the prettiest and brightest girl in her class. So many men are trying to ask her for a date, and her female classmates dislike her. They’re probably jealous of her. So, she has many enemies here."
Alex could only shake his head.
"You’ve worked in college for just one day and already have so much gossip and information to report," Alex muttered.
He sighed deeply and continued walking toward the meeting room. However, he stopped once again when another text message arrived.
"Boss, I’m sorry, but I must report this to you. Your wife is sitting beside me. I forced her to sit in the back row, but she insisted; she said she was worried her friend wouldn’t believe I was her classmate."
A frown slowly formed on Alex’s forehead as he read the message. He wanted to ignore it, but for some reason, his hand moved and pressed "reply."
"For God’s sake, Josh! You don’t need to report things like that. Stop wasting my time with useless reports and just guard her!"
He was about to tuck his phone away when a new text came in.
"Oh. Got it, Boss. Sorry. But you need to know another thing: Young Madam’s friends think I’m her boyfriend."
Alex was unsure how to respond to that message. He just stared at it, his furrowed brow growing more pronounced as he sank into deep thought.
Before Alex could find the right words to respond, Alvin’s voice suddenly cut through his thoughts from behind.
"Sir, you’re already ten minutes late. Would you like me to postpone the meeting?" Alvin asked.
"No!" Alex replied tersely, then quickly resumed his walk to the meeting room.
Alex had nothing to say about Aurora’s friends, who believed Josh was her lover. They were only married on paper and had no feelings for each other.
He didn’t want to know about her life or the people around her. They would be separated in two years, anyway.

Nubox Junction.
After two hours of driving from the city center to the border of Spectra and Luminox, Josh finally arrived at the Dark Market area.
"Ma’am..."
Aurora interrupted him, "My goodness, Josh! My name is Aurora!"
"Madam, I’m sorry, but I can’t call you that out of my huge respect for my Boss. It feels strange; you are my Boss’s wife. I’ll only call you that when we’re on your campus or around your friends. Please don’t make me call you by your name when we’re alone, Madam..." he pleaded.
Aurora sighed softly, tired of trying to persuade him. She knew that Josh would never heed her wishes.
She grabbed her backpack and opened the door. "Fine! Forget I ask. Let’s go; the shop will close in an hour."
Josh smiled happily when he realized she no longer insisted he call her Aurora. He hurried after her, still curious about how she knew this place.
He had heard rumors from Aurora and Patrick that the sellers at Nubox Junction did not sell goods to random individuals or retail buyers. They only accepted orders from companies in large quantities, and even then, this information was known only to a specific circle of people.
With several computer sellers in the area, Josh wondered how this girl could make any purchase from Nubox Junction.
Walking beside Aurora, he couldn’t hold back his curiosity any longer. "Ma’am, excuse me, how did you find out about this place?"
