Chapter 1674: Chapter 1012: The Willow God’s Lament
No one would have expected that, after ceaseless turmoil and epochs of change, there would come a truly unprecedented golden age.
The so-called "golden age" mainly refers to the fact that this era, though rather short-lived, will be extraordinarily prosperous, with geniuses emerging one after another and strong individuals as numerous as clouds.
During this period, nature’s spiritual energy will be abundant, and the Great Taoist Rule will manifest, making it easier for cultivators to break through their realms.
Moreover, various ancient legacies and secret techniques will emerge, and the world will be filled with opportunities and challenges.
The reappearance of the Ten Evil beasts in the mortal world is the best proof of this.
Although this isn’t the first time the Immortal Domain has experienced a golden age, ancient history records at least two occasions as such, yet none can compare to the present.
However, recalling the scene just now, when the giant hand descended from the sky and captured the Phoenix, many people’s hearts felt heavy.
So what if this is an unprecedented era of cultivation?
What good is a boom in magical treasures and resources?
It still has nothing to do with ordinary people like them!
Can they contend against that hand that descended from the sky?
Can they compete with the Ten Great Taoist Schools and various True Immortals?
They can contend with none.
Even the strong among loose cultivators can only watch hopelessly.
After all, two fists are no match for four hands.
It doesn’t require much thought; places like Cave Heaven Places, formed by this epoch, along with various rare cultivation resources, will eventually be completely scavenged by those large sects and factions.
The remaining scraps will then be divided among the smaller sects and factions below.
Perhaps a bit might fall to them.
But surely it has nothing to do with the grand concept of a golden age.
Even if unwilling, they can only endure with resignation.
In the previous two golden ages, as historical records show, though some fortuitously benefited, reaching the Immortal Path Field with ordinary bodies,
most remained unknown, as the many cultivation resources born from the epoch’s changes were initially divided clean by major forces among those who seemed like dead fish in the water.
And even those fortunate ones were eventually absorbed into these powerful factions.
Big fish eat little fish, and little fish eat shrimp; this principle remains unchanged since ancient times, though in the Immortal Domain, it is even more brutal—big fish swallow not only little fish but shrimp as well.
Yet on this day, another Dharma Decree flew out from the Holy Land.
It hung among the stars of the firmament.
Glorious and majestic, drawing the attention of the world.
This time, it was not just a few words.
Spanning two cascading lines.
The general meaning was that for this golden age, no factions within the domain are allowed to interfere, but they may send disciples to walk the great trends, yet not act independently.
Upon seeing the content of the Dharma Decree, the clans rejoiced, the Ten Thousand Clans cheered.
Unanimously, they all bowed and knelt towards the direction of the Holy Land, eyes brimming with tears, hearts filled with indescribable emotion and excitement.
On a frozen tundra stretching for thousands of miles.
A group of old foxes, their fur speckled and gait slow, seemingly covered in silvery frost, fervently kowtowed.
The young foxes in the Fox Clan, though unaware of worldly matters, were also moved by the elders’ emotions, tears welling up in their eyes.
The old Clan Leader of the Fox Clan gazed upon the Dharma Decree high in the sky, tears streaming down, and said in a trembling voice:
"Our Snow Fox Clan, dwelling in harsh, cold lands, struggling in cultivation, once faced resource scarcity and disdain. Now, there is such a turn of events; this is heaven’s mercy, the Holy Land’s compassion!"
With that, it was the first to kneel deeply towards the direction of the Holy Land, and the old and young of the Fox Clan followed suit, resulting in a peaceful silence on the tundra, broken only by the rising and falling sounds of bowing and intermittent sobs.
Though the Immortal Domain is boundless, it ultimately has borders; some occupy prime cultivation resources, Cave Heaven Places, while others dwell in barren, cold lands.
"The Holy Land is compassionate, seeing all people equally; this Dharma Decree is our light of hope, our opportunity for rise!"
Yet another tribe of merpeople, long residing in dark and seemingly underwater prison-deep-seas, surfaced.
Mermaid women, graceful in form, with tears glistening in their eyes, were full of sincerity. The Merpeople Elder performed the most devout ritual kowtow.
In truth, they were not originally like this; in the past, they were pearl hunters, driven to this state due to original territories being occupied by outsiders who forced them into the waters, forbidding land access, and later forbidding even surfacing, eternally trapping them below the deep, narrow abyssal sea, over long ages, evolving into their current state.
In small sects across the Immortal Domain, the air was also filled with jubilation.
A temple head stroked his beard, expressing his thoughts: "Our Qingfeng Temple has been passed down for hundreds of years, always hovering on the edges of the Immortal Domain. With this golden age and the protection of the Holy Land’s Dharma Decree, we must seize the opportunity; perhaps in the future, we might secure a place in the Immortal Domain."
Gathering places for loose cultivators were even more lively. Usually, each loose cultivator wages battles alone, cultivating in solitude, but now, with this opportunity for fair competition, their confidence has soared.
Someone passionately shouted: "Brothers, in the past, we were squeezed out by those big sects; now, we finally have a chance to compete with them fairly. This golden age is our era!"
The crowd responded one after another, and for a time, their spirits soared.
In stark contrast to the excitement of the Ten Thousand Clans, the Ten Great Taoist Schools and those major hegemonic forces that once dominated the Immortal Domain fell into a deep silence.
For them, their rapid development was, in part, due to the great opportunities presented by the previous two golden ages.
But now, with the Holy Land forbidding outright domination, they found themselves utterly unprepared.
Although unwilling, they understood deeply that the Dharma Decree could not be defied and could only comply reluctantly.
