Chapter 527: 507: Who is the person behind the scenes? (19)

"Grandpa mentioned it," Luo Qianqian pouted. "I forgot to say that it’s also my grandpa’s birthday that day, so another reason for that day is to formally introduce me as our family’s granddaughter." Luo Qianqian let out a sigh, her face full of gloom: "After you went home last night, Second Aunt came with someone to take my measurements, oh right, and your evening gown has been prepared by Second Aunt as well."

Qin Nuan’s expression was a bit strange, as she was naturally aware that Luo Qianq had not yet made this matter public, thereby only those who needed to know were aware of it. Previously, it was for Luo Qianqian’s uninterrupted studies and the mess that came with it, not to mention that Luo Shufan was supposed to make an appearance with her as well.

"You are talking about the grand birthday celebration for Master Luo Guohui and the 20th-anniversary conference of Fungfan Group?" Ji Tianao’s face was full of surprise, and his eyes were wide: "You belong to the Luo Family?"

Luo Qianqian raised an eyebrow: "Not only do I belong, but this lady here is my Fourth Sister-in-Law." The implication was, don’t get any ideas about Qin Nuan.

Qin Nuan was bemused, yet a warm current passed through her heart; Luo Qianqian always included her as one of her own.

Ji Tianao tugged at the corner of his mouth: "You’ve misunderstood, what I meant was, since you are a member of the Luo Family... do you know Luo Xiying?"

"Uncle?" Luo Qianqian’s eyes widened: "You know my uncle?"

"Ah, I knew it," Ji Tianao said with a hint of relief on his face: "If you had told me your surname was Luo, I wouldn’t have needed any other information to help you. Luo Xiying once saved my life, I was on the verge of breaking down and committing suicide after my mom passed away, but he rescued me, I’ve always been grateful to him."

"Uncle is so cool," Luo Qianqian’s face glowed as she nudged Qin Nuan: "Our uncle is super cool, right?"

Qin Nuan rolled her eyes: "Cool, sure he’s cool, but who are you bragging to about it?"

Luo Qianqian wore a look of melancholy and slumped into the sofa, lethargically resting her chin in her hand: "Yeah, it’s been such a long time since I’ve seen Uncle, and Bai Yixian and Bai Yizhu as well."

As for how to address Bai Yixian and Bai Yizhu, Luo Qianqian really didn’t know, so she just called them by their names.

"That settles it then." After hearing the name Luo Xiying, Ji Tianao smiled, his demeanor completely trusting as he didn’t even glance at the folder with information on his biological father. He picked up the folder containing details on Xu Xiaoxiao and started reading attentively, his face all seriousness.

His job was to win the favor of women, so reading through the descriptions on the file, he already had a rough idea of what methods to use.

After reading, Ji Tianao slowly said to Luo Qianqian, "So the reason you approached me is because I’m a bastard too, right?" He didn’t look at Qin Nuan, the file had told him all he needed to know that this was primarily Luo Qianqian’s intention.

Luo Qianqian was taken aback for a moment, nodding guiltily.

But Ji Tianao laughed: "I don’t feel inferior about my identity, it’s just that my mother had the misfortune of meeting a scumbag." He paused before slowly adding, "Just like Xu Tianyi."

Luo Qianqian almost slammed her fist on the table and stood up. Why bring up Xu Tianyi? There were many other names in the file, so why focus solely on Xu Tianyi?

"You’re seeking me out because of this man, aren’t you?" Ji Tianao asked without any displeasure: "I’m happy to be able to help with this, and I’m glad that there’s someone like you who is doggedly loyal to us."

Qin Nuan wore an embarrassed expression; ’doggedly loyal’ she was not so sure about, but being oblivious was indeed true.

Luo Qianqian furrowed her brows tightly.

Ji Tianao smiled: "My profession makes me very sensitive to these emotional matters, though they’re all insignificant trifles. However, there’s one phrase from the file that I remember – ’Little bastard’."

Luo Qianqian pursed her lips and remained silent, which was an admission in itself.

"Pleasure doing business." Seeing Luo Qianqian’s demeanor, Ji Tianao smiled as well: "I’ll take my leave now, and I’ll call you once I’ve changed my contact information." Having noted the series of numbers on the file bag, he didn’t linger any longer.

He was overwhelmed by the amount of information he had received in just one afternoon; he needed to take some time to cool down.

Qin Nuan nodded.

Watching him leave, Luo Qianqian sighed, "Let’s go, time to destroy the surveillance footage."

After stepping out, she changed into a new set of clothes, took her laptop into a coffee shop, connected to the internet, and without hesitation, deleted all the footage from when they appeared at the door until they left.

Then, she left casually.

After Luo Qianqian’s departure, a person in the corner wearing a hat and glasses, who was also furiously writing in a book, sighed, opened his computer, and fixed the loose ends she left behind before resuming his studies.

Under the hat, a hint of golden color was exposed.

"I have a feeling we’ve gone off-topic," Qin Nuan said to Luo Qianqian as they walked back to school, a puzzled look on her face. "We were originally investigating the dormitory issue, so how did it end up about Xu Xiaoxiao?"

"She’s also a suspect, so we’re not wrong, yeah, not wrong," Luo Qianqian said with an air of self-righteousness and justice, seeming to be without any ulterior motives.

Qin Nuan laughed but didn’t expose her.

Just as they reached the school gate, they saw Cao Yingying walking out of the school as if she had lost her soul, with an incredibly aged look on her face.

"What happened?" Luo Qianqian asked, looking at her.

Cao Yingying, initially wanting to lash out at the person blocking her way but bursting into tears the moment she saw Luo Qianqian, fell to her knees and pleaded, "Luo Qianqian, please, save my little brother. I beg you, I’ll do anything for you..."

"Wait a second, how can I save him? I’m not a doctor," Luo Qianqian said, startled by the sight of a fully grown person suddenly kneeling before her.

Seeing more and more people gathering around, Qin Nuan, regardless of her disdain for Cao Yingying, quickly helped her up, "Speak properly, don’t look like we’re bullying you."

Only then did Cao Yingying notice the crowd around them, quickly wiping her face, but tears kept falling continuously as she tried to catch her breath between sobs, loudly saying, "Please lend me three hundred thousand yuan."

The surrounding people were all wide-eyed with disbelief. What? Borrowing money? And three hundred thousand? Were students so rich now?

Countless eyes settled on Luo Qianqian and Qin Nuan.

Was it an issue with surgery fees?

Luo Qianqian frowned, "Three hundred, three thousand, or even thirty thousand, we might figure it out by asking our families, but three hundred thousand? Do you think we’re tycoons?" Yet her heart was filled with confusion, wondering why this was so sudden.

Qin Nuan also nodded repeatedly, indicating this was a precedent that shouldn’t be set, or else who knows what kind of people might come asking in the future.

Cao Yingying clutched Luo Qianqian’s wrist tightly, causing Luo Qianqian to frown. Was she being coerced into compliance?

Three hundred thousand, she could come up with it, but why should she lend it to such a person?

"The doctor says if he doesn’t have the surgery soon, my little brother might not make it..." Cao Yingying was in total despair, tears and snot streaming down her face.

Just as Luo Qianqian was about to speak, her phone rang. Seeing the name on the screen, she frowned, Lu Simiao?
