Chapter 517: Chapter 497: Who is the person behind the scenes? (Part 10)

"Speak up, what exactly is going on?" Old Master Luo, enjoying the tea Luo Qianqian had made, sat behind the desk.

Luo Qianqian genuinely felt that the placement of this desk in the study was intended for Old Master Luo to interrogate the younger generation. It was much like a setting from a war drama series resembling a prison.

"What’s it?" Luo Qianqian asked subconsciously, then suddenly realized those few had tattled, after all, Qin Wen knew they were going to test something, Luo Yanwu had Cong Rong’s contact information, and Lin Jiayou had just met with Zhang Yun. Wasn’t it obvious?

"Did you have a falling out in your dorm?" Old Master Luo didn’t seem to think much of it, only worried that his granddaughter might be wronged.

"Oh, it’s just minor squabbles, Grandfather, don’t worry about it." Luo Qianqian was very composed. "How can there be deeper affection between girls if they don’t squabble a few times?" She spouted nonsense with a serious face.

But having dealt with his wife and two daughters-in-law, Old Master Luo had genuinely come to feel that women were an esoteric study, utterly inscrutable and impossible to understand.

He believed Luo Qianqian’s obviously made-up reason, even advising, "It’s okay to quarrel, but you still have to live in the same dorm, so don’t make it too awkward." He didn’t forget to remind Luo Qianqian to watch her limits and then seemingly casually asked about An Zilan’s personality and such.

Luo Qianqian was somewhat amused and exasperated. Her mom had already separated from her dad, for over a decade. Wasn’t Grandfather’s concern a bit too late? Now, her mom was married to someone else and about to have another child with him.

But thinking about it, her mom really was amazing. The sibling her brother was going to have was nearly eighteen years younger than him.

"Ah, she has had a tough time." Old Master Luo sighed. "If only back then... Ah..."

"Grandfather, don’t think too much about it anymore. As long as Mom is happy now, my brother and I are very happy too. I am your granddaughter." Luo Qianqian smiled sweetly, curving her lips. An Zilan was no longer linked to the Luo family; the only remaining connection was that she was the biological mother and guardian of Luo Qianqian and Luo Shufan. And the two of them were descendants of the Luo family, that’s all.

Old Master Luo understood Luo Qianqian’s point immediately.

The meaning of his granddaughter was that in the future, she and her brother would take care of and show filial piety to An Zilan; they were also members of the Luo family, obligated to care for and respect the elderly without shirking.

Luo Qianqian just looked up, smiling, her face filled with a tender expression.

Now that they had the protection of the Luo family and the love of so many relatives, they really should give back more, and showing filial piety was a natural part of this. If the Luo family needed them, they would repay the favor even if it meant losing something.

Old Master Luo looked at Luo Qianqian’s face and grew even fonder of her. Granddaughters were indeed more likable than grandsons.

"When she... when your mother has the baby, help Grandfather deliver a gift to her," Old Master Luo said.

Luo Qianqian did not refuse and thanked him beamingly, then continued to chat with Old Master Luo before leaving the study. She had no idea that she would see Luo Yanwu waiting at the door to her room.

"Third brother?" Luo Qianqian was puzzled; had he not just gone for a walk with Baozi to digest their food?

"Let’s talk inside your room," he sighed, glancing back at the just-closed door of the study.

Luo Qianqian nodded, pushing open the door. He hadn’t entered the room since his return, so it was still tidy and clean, with several shopping bags obviously recently placed there, filled with clothes, trousers, and shoes, clearly the result of a recent shopping trip by his grandmother and aunts.

"What’s wrong?" Luo Qianqian closed the door and pulled out the chair in front of the computer desk for Luo Yanwu to sit on.

Luo Yanwu frowned tightly, "I know about the situation in your dormitory."

Luo Qianqian nodded her head, showing no surprise.

"I went to see her off this morning, and then I went to my second uncle’s place," Luo Yanwu didn’t hide anything from Luo Qianqian since she was involved in the matter herself.

"Hmm, and then?" Luo Yanwu’s obvious trust was very telling.

"The Cong Rong Family encountered trouble, someone is scheming behind the scenes," Luo Yanwu said, "It was someone from the Capital City, but I haven’t figured out who precisely."

"That’s obvious," Luo Qianqian spread her hands, "Someone is trying to cause division and suspicion in our dormitory, and someone else is attacking us from the shadows. The last incident was just a test." Luo Qianqian wasn’t as naive as she appeared, the suddenness of the event suggesting manipulation.

"You know why, yet you..."

"Let her go off alone? Otherwise, how could I give you a chance to shine?" Luo Qianqian smiled, then her expression turned serious, "Big brother, there’s an insider in our dorm. Now even if we trust someone, we won’t show it, and the only person I can trust now is Nuannuan, I can’t be sure if others are just feigning to gain our trust. The main point is, if we show closeness, it might trigger their next move." After thinking about her afternoon shopping experience with Zhang Yun when they bumped into Xiu Ran, both being very cautious, she sighed deeply.

"Also, I discovered something else." Luo Yanwu nodded, not interested in intrigue, but that didn’t mean he was oblivious.

"What?"

"Xu Xiaoxiao has been seen frequently near your school," Luo Yanwu frowned deeply.

"Near our school?" Isn’t she just in her senior year of high school? Isn’t senior year busy?

"Yes," Luo Yanwu nodded, "I ran into her twice when I was there." His expression grew somber, "Could it be that they are behind this..."

"Who knows?" Luo Qianqian spread her hands, her expression indescribably tired, "Big brother, sometimes I wonder if I’m carrying some earth-shattering secret, thus always being watched."

"Nonsense, if there was, wouldn’t I have taken advantage of my proximity to gain benefits first?" Luo Yanwu also laughed, "Hurry up and hand over the treasure, otherwise, hehehe, I’ll just sit here and not leave." Luo Yanwu pretended to look hooligan, making Luo Qianqian laugh loudly.

Luo Qianqian, very seriously, covered her chest and feigned crying toward Luo Yanwu, "Big brother, your little sister really doesn’t know anything, nothing at all."

Old Master Luo was passing by Luo Qianqian’s room and was about to head downstairs when he heard his granddaughter’s cries. He was momentarily confused, not sure whether to knock and ask what was wrong, then heard Luo Yanwu’s voice coming out, "Little girl, come on, give Master a smile." After a pause, he added, "Not smiling? Then Master will give you a smile, hehe."

The footsteps heading downstairs almost stumbled and fell, torn between laughter and despair. How could his normally serious grandson turn silly in front of his granddaughter?

If Luo Qianqian heard this, she would definitely protest. It was clearly Luo Yanwu who stopped being serious first.
