Chapter 41: Baby

"Where are we going?" Asked a smiling Rinne.

Hades doesn’t understand if she couldn’t grasp the severity of the matter or she just doesn’t care at all?

He smiled in defeat before telling her, "We will first visit the town named Aphither. Then we will go to our east."

Hearing that name, Rinne frowned, "Are you visiting your parents?"

Hades was taken aback, "How do you know my parents live there?"

She shrugged, "Just heard from people...anyway, are you really going to meet them?"

Hades heaved a sigh, "Will try to meet mum for possibly the last time and also, pay a visit to Graham’s family."

He couldn’t get the sight of Graham’s mother out of his mind. Her words...those tears...he couldn’t let go of it.

He had hurt them. While there was no repair to the damage done, he could at least say a final goodbye to his brother.

Rinne held his hand and told him, "I will go with you."

Hades held her hand back and didn’t say anything.

The warmth of her hand was quite comforting.

....

Far away from the two, there was a huge mansion that stood at the heart of a deserted land.

Inside many of them rooms, a certain someone could be seen inside the bathroom.

The walls were made of pale marble, smooth and cool to the touch, with veins of silver running through them like delicate threads. Gentle steam floated through the air, carrying the scent of lavender and rose.

In the center of the room lay a large bathing pool, carved from stone so polished it gleamed like glass. The water inside was warm and clear, rippling slightly with the soft movement of the woman within.

She had long, flowing red hair that floated around her like silk in the water. Her pale skin glowed under the light, drops of water clinging to her shoulders and collarbone. Her eyes were closed, her lips parted just a little, as if caught in a peaceful dream.

The water reached up to her chest, hiding the rest of her like a curtain of warmth. Little rose petals floated around her, brushing against her arms and drifting wherever the water carried them.

Breaking the silence, a soft voice echoed across the marble walls.

"My Lady, the heir has begun his journey."

A slow smile bloomed on the redhead’s lips.

Her full lips curled dangerously as she crossed one long leg over the other, sending a ripple across the still surface.

Her allure was extremely dangerous even when the other person was a woman.

She hugged her ample curves, the sheen of water gliding over her skin like a lover’s touch.

"Did you see him?" she asked, her voice low and dripping with honey. "How did he look?"

"Majestic as ever," the silver-haired maid replied, keeping her eyes respectfully averted. "There is a woman with him. A phoenix, to be exact."

The woman’s pupils turned slit, her gaze sharp like a blade. "Did he mark her?"

"Not yet. But the woman seems close to the heir."

A scowl tugged at the redhead’s face. She leaned back, droplets trailing down her neck, her chest heaving. "An unkillable bitch has appeared, eh?"

The maid hesitated, then softly said, "My Lady... she truly is close to him."

The woman scoffed, lifting her arms and resting them along the edge of the pool. Her skin glistened in the candlelight, soft steam rising around her. "I heard you the first time. Relax. I won’t harm her."

The maid let out a quiet breath, hiding her relief.

The redhead rested her chin on her folded arms and stared off dreamily. "Tell me again... how did he look?" Her voice grew breathy, eyes distant yet glowing.

"I don’t understand," the maid admitted, "Why can’t you look at him yourself, like always?"

The woman sighed and dropped her head onto her arms with a faint splash. "He’ll sense me now. And he might... reject me. I can’t bear that. Not from my baby."

A quiet pause followed.

Then, again, more softly—"How did he look?"

The maid smiled faintly. "Strong. Determined. Unstoppable."

A sweet hum escaped the woman’s lips as she swayed gently from side to side, her shoulders slipping just beneath the surface. "He is my son, after all. He has to be courageous."

The maid said nothing. She simply watched her mistress with quiet loyalty.

Then the woman let herself sink fully into the water, red hair blooming around her like a fiery halo. As she rose again, she spoke with a touch of command:

"Keep your distance. I don’t want my child to feel like his mother is stalking him."

The maid bowed wordlessly.

’But you are...’ she thought. Of course, she didn’t dare say it aloud.

With a final glance at the bathing beauty, the maid turned and left in silence.

.....

"Your cooking is as delicious as ever, Rinne," Hades said with a satisfied smile, setting down his empty bowl. The curry she had made used only basic ingredients, but somehow, it tasted far from ordinary.

Rinne beamed. "I added a special ingredient... just for you." She winked playfully.

Hades tilted his head in confusion but decided not to ask. He knew barely anything about cooking.

After they finished eating, they packed up quietly and settled in for the night in the middle of the forest.

There were no signs of pursuit, and the border security hadn’t changed. That could only mean one thing—the King hadn’t made a decision yet.

That was fine by Hades. The more time they had, the better.

He fed the fire, tossing in a few more logs to keep it burning through the night. The soft crackle of flames filled the quiet.

Meanwhile, Rinne neatly stacked the pot and bowls back into her bag. Then, with a teasing smile, she looked at him.

"You really don’t want to share the sleeping bag? I promise—I’m very comfy to hug."

Her eyes sparkled with mischief.

Hades gave a wry smile. "Thanks, but I’ll stay up and keep watch."

Rinne sighed and stretched her arms above her head. "Suit yourself. But the offer’s still open. If you change your mind, don’t hesitate."

Not long after, Rinne slid into the sleeping bag and closed her eyes.

It didn’t take her long to fall asleep. Hades could tell by the soft, steady rhythm of her breathing.

He picked up a small twig and tossed it into the fire. It crackled as the flames curled around the wood, growing brighter for a moment before settling again.

He watched the flames dance, and before he knew it, his thoughts drifted to the past—those bitter nights when he was left outside the house, alone, after breaking his brother’s jaw in a fit of anger.

His mother had come to him in secret then, quietly bringing food so no one would know.

’Mother... I hope I get to see you one last time. Because I don’t know how much longer I’ll be alive...’

A new Chapter of his life was beginning.

And deep down, he knew—it would change everything.
