Chapter 171: The Architect’s Heir
Chapter 171: The Architect’s Heir
One of the commanders boldly stepped forward and asked,
"May we know why you two helped us? You’re one of those Summoners, aren’t you?"
Hovering above the ground, Igaris shook his head, his voice cold and commanding.
"No. Look at her..." he said, pointing at Evernight. "You would recognize her if you had studied the ancient records. She is Calypso, the daughter of the Great Architect. And me..." A slow, confident smile curled on his lips.
"I am the Inheritor of the Architect."
As he spoke, his eyes shimmered with an ethereal blue light, the same radiant hue carved into the massive statue in the capital square.
The Mechas around them buzzed and trembled, as if even their artificial senses had registered something divine. For a moment, time seemed to slow, and awe swept through the battlefield.
It was unmistakable. Those eyes belonged to the Creator. And now, they rested in the body of a human.
Gasps erupted from the surrounding soldiers.
"Oh Lord... is it really true? The Architect’s eyes... among us?"
"Yes... they look exactly the same. I saw a painting once, in the ancient archives. The half-demonic, half-angelic daughter of the Almighty Architect stood beside a man with those very same eyes..."
"Then we should inform the General and the Supreme Council immediately to verify—"
"Wait."
Just then, an authoritative voice broke through the static and chaos, cutting like a blade through tense air.
THUD. THUD. THUD.
A towering Mecha landed on the battlefield with the weight of a mountain, sending tremors across the field. Its armor gleamed obsidian-black, etched with golden veins of flowing Ether.
CLANK-CLANK-CHHRRRK!
The Hydraulic joints hissed as the cockpit opened with a hiss of steam.
From within stepped a tall man, draped in a long officer’s coat, crimson scarf flaring behind him. His hair was streaked with silver, and a pair of cybernetic goggles glowed with scanning light over one eye. His presence alone quieted the remaining whispers among the Mecha forces.
"Supreme Commander Vellmar..." one of the soldiers saluted with wide eyes.
Vellmar’s boots touched the ground, CLACK! as his cold gaze fell directly on Igaris and Evernight.
"You claim to be the Heir of the Architect," Vellmar said, voice calm but charged with suspicion. "That title hasn’t been spoken for thousands of years. And many imposters have tried."
Igaris didn’t flinch. Floating just above ground, with wind ruffling his coat and cape, he slowly lowered himself to stand firmly before the Commander.
FWOOSH!
His ethereal blue eyes glowed brighter, like the twin stars above the Ashvale night.
"I am not here to claim it. I am here to show you all the true path of peace that once the Great Architect failed to establish," Igaris said calmly.
He raised a finger, and the very air shifted.
The skies darkened momentarily.
WUMMMM—
Then a spectral hologram of the Grand Architect’s Symbol burst from his palm, spinning with divine geometry, orbiting rings of light and ancient runes that no mortal machine could replicate.
"No way. It is true."
Gasps erupted.
The Mechas’ sensors reacted violently.
BEEP! BEEP! ALERT! UNIDENTIFIED DIVINE ENERGY SIGNATURE DETECTED!
"That is the Crest of Absolute Creation..." an old officer mumbled, falling to one knee.
Commander Vellmar narrowed his eyes. "That symbol is only encoded in the World Code... It should be impossible to replicate unless..."
"Unless the Code itself responds," Evernight finished, her voice calm like starlight.
The Crest pulsed again. And this time, the enormous statue of the Architect in the main square, miles behind them, shimmered.
BUZZZ...
The statue’s sealed eyes flickered faintly with the same ethereal blue glow. As if it were waking.
"No way..." a Mech Pilot breathed.
"By the Machine God... it recognizes him."
The energy faded, and silence fell once more.
Vellmar crossed his arms. "Then why now? Why return to us in the middle of a war?"
Igaris stepped forward, his voice echoing with certainty.
"Because the Perfect Society has lost its way. Because the Architect’s vision has been corrupted by greed, and abused by your so called Perfect Society, You leaders, and Angels alike. I have returned to reclaim that vision. To unite what is broken. To burn what is rotten."
"And to rebuild," Evernight added as her eyes turned. "Starting with those who dared to force tyranny on Ashvale."
Vellmar’s face remained unreadable, then after a long silence, he dropped to one knee.
"I don’t care about myths. I follow power. And you... have more than enough to shift this war. I, Supreme Commander Vellmar, pledge my forces to your command, Heir of the Architect."
CLANK!
One by one, dozens of other Mecha soldiers knelt behind him.
THUD! THUD! CLANG!
Igaris stood above them, unmoving, as the battlefield swore itself to him.
His expression was unreadable... but in his eyes, the blue light of dominion blazed.
---
Igaris and Evernight were escorted to Oracle City with great fanfare.
The battlefield had turned into a procession. High-speed convoys, armored escorts, and flying banners of Paradis fluttered in the wind as they traveled. Thunderous roars from escort Mechas echoed across the sky, forming a living parade through the clouds. The Mecha Riders saluted in mid-air, and even the skies themselves seemed to shimmer with anticipation.
News spread faster than plasma through a conduit.
The Architect’s Heir has appeared. Amd
Calypso, the Daughter of the Architect, walks again.
By the time they entered the gates of Oracle City, the capital was already roaring with excitement.
The streets buzzed with rumors. Holographic news anchors lit up across skyscrapers, while people watched from their balconies or paused mid-stride to stare.
On the streets below, two merchants argued beside a fruit stand.
"Did you see his eyes? They were glowing! Blue like the Statue!"
"I’m telling you, it’s divine intervention. The Architect himself sent them to correct this corrupted era!"
In a passing airbus, a child tugged on his mother’s sleeve.
"Mommy, is the Architect coming back?"
The woman looked up at the passing hologram of Igaris and whispered, more to herself than the child,
"...or maybe he never left."
Even the skies above Oracle City flickered with streams of digital prayers and encrypted messages from all across the world. The entire Federation was in motion.
But behind the awe and celebration, whispers of uncertainty crept into the minds of those who controlled the chase board of Paradis.
And now someone had appeared to challenge their authority. How can they just accept this?
