Re: In My Bloody Hit Novel
Chapter 722 722: He never chose Wrong.

...After their 'Business' with the dragon head was done, Carla and Hunter made their way back toward the ruined exit of the underground cavern.

The dragon face remained looming on the wall behind them, its ancient eyes flickering with grudging resignation.

Just as Carla was about to disappear into the shadowed exit, the dragon's deep, gravelly voice rumbled again, this time with a strained edge of forced civility.

"So… with these things Chiron has taken… will he forgive the past?" The dragon's mouth twisted into what was supposed to resemble a smile, though it looked more like a snarl covered in cracked scales.

The past it was asking about was if Chiron would forgive for snitching his location to the Dragons and the Pig Zodiac family that time.

Carla didn't reply immediately. Instead, she glanced at the storage ring Chiron had handed her, now hanging from a blackened thread on her finger. She activated it with a flicker of spiritual will. The space inside bloomed open in her vision—packed full of spirit plant ore, aged dragon bone marrow, sealed demonic contracts, draconic essence crystals, forbidden pills, plants on every energy source in this world, and dozens of rare items that had clearly been hoarded for centuries.

She had cleaned the entire precious land dry, including the hidden level the precious land spirit intended for its descendant dragon Chironhad taken as a slave.

Her lips curled into a satisfied smile. "This should be enough."

Then, as if by silent command, she nodded toward Hunter.

The core beast met her eyes and grinned. "As the master said…"

Then came the roar.

Not just a beastly cry, but one laced with spatial distortion and internal destruction. The sheer sonic force rolled through the cavern like an earthquake, bursting the stalactites and the ancient stone beams above their heads. Dust fell like snow.

With a deafening crack, the ceiling of the cavern shattered, pulling down the old Chief's manor above.

In that moment, the dragon's eyes widened in horror. His illusion had hidden it for generations, but now—the one thing that had kept him protected from divine notice, the ancient formation etched above like a giant, invisible glyph—was shattered.

No more illusions. No more protection.

As a precious land spirit, it had escaped heavenly tribulation for far too long. What was coming was going to be disastrous.

The dragon spirit shrieked, "YOU TREACHEROUS VERMIN!!"

But it was too late.

Already, the sky above rumbled. Thunder rolled like war drums. A thick wall of clouds had begun to swirl above the mountain range, and heavenly lightning licked downward in silver threads, as if sniffing out its prey.

The air cracked.

"Heaven's Judgement," Carla whispered, her silver demon hair billowing under her cloak.

Hunter turned to her. "We should move..."

Carla nodded and threw one final glance at the dragon spirit, who was now slamming his head against the shaking walls of his cavern, roaring so loud the mountains trembled.

"CURSED CHIKITSA! CURSED CHIRON! YOU DEMON-RAISED WHORE—!"

Carla just smiled faintly and turned. Of course, everything they had done had been on their master's orders.

While this precious land had been useful time and time again, the precious land spirit was a stupid loose end.

The first bolt landed.

A pure white lightning strike carved through the clouds and slammed into the shattered formation ruins, and the entire mountain lit up like a blazing altar.

Behind them, the screams of the dragon blended with thunder.

And Carla didn't look back again.

Carla and Hunter finally reached the second leg of their journey.

Before them lay the jagged cliffsides that formed the outer defenses of the Rooster Zodiac Barracks—the easternmost guard post of the Zodiac families. From here, all entrances into the 'Beyond the Veil' were fiercely guarded. With the Holy Church and the Zodiac alliance now fully at war, no passage went unmonitored.

The mountain winds howled as the two slaves of Chiron stood together in the shadow of an outcrop. Below, the barracks glowed dimly with magic runes and patrolling silhouettes. Towering flags of the Rooster clan flapped in the wind, their sigils still stained from previous battles.

They both knew what came next.

Hunter's massive feline frame crouched low beside Carla. For a long moment, neither spoke. Then Carla broke the silence, voice softer than usual.

"So this is it."

Hunter gave a low hum, his golden eyes steady. "It is."

She looked down at her hand, fingers curling briefly around the storage ring Chiron had given her. "You'll be fine," she said, trying to sound confident. "They'll accept you. You're strong… and useful."

Hunter's ears twitched. "You say that like you're not."

Carla chuckled lightly, the sound barely audible over the wind. "I'm a demon, no clan, no faction. My hair alone could get me beheaded if it weren't covered… My blood will betray me sooner or later if i go through the gates."

He turned to her then. "please dont say that, sister. You're one of us. One of his."

There was a beat of silence between them. A flicker of old pain passed through Carla's eyes, the kind she usually buried deep. "Yeah… I know."

Then, gently, she stepped forward and placed her forehead against Hunter's. "Don't die too easily. Our master's dreams still need you."

Hunter purred low and nuzzled her cheek with surprising gentleness for a beast of war. "And you. Don't lose yourself again."

With that, he turned and padded down the mountain path, fading into shadow and illusion. His destination: the Rooster Barracks. According to Chiron's plans, he was to infiltrate the Zodiac families. Given his sheer strength, intelligence and potential for more power. A core beast that had broken the limitations of its bloodline by a large margin, they would be fools to turn him away. And Hunter, learning from Chiron surely knew how to play the obedient beast—until the leash around their throats became his own.

Carla remained at the cliffside for a moment longer, her cloak flapping behind her like torn wings. Her journey was far from over.

She had her own mission—to rejoin the demons.

But hers would be nothing like Hunter's.

The demons, after the confrontation between the Seer of the Church and the Demon Mother, had retreated deeper into the Nether Realm. By the seer's orders—no demon was to step beyond the veil. Those caught outside would be executed on sight. No exceptions. No questions.

The portal she sought lay miles west, hidden within the roots of an ancient volcanic trench. This one was guarded by the firmer members of the Zodiac clans—by dragons.

Dragons had refused to kneel to the new Regent of the Boar Clan. Then again, their type were proud and very stubborn and proud. They even refused to bow to Manu who had God origins, a mere Regent was not worthy. Adding to the fact that Manu's treatment of the tree that birth their kind was doing well, it was only natural that they became more cocky.

Carla had chosen this gate for a reason. She needed to reach her brother–Chiron's dragon.

Two birds. One stone.

She reached into her cloak and touched her chest. Her heartbeat was steady, but she could feel the cursed blood thrum. Her hair was hidden, her eyes disguised—but her blood would give her away as a demon. She could only imagine the kind of treasures that the church had. Worse still, she bore no identity stone, or clan marks beyond the veil. Nothing but the mark of her Master, Chiron—the most wanted criminal in the world.

And still, she had to find a way in.

Her hand clenched at her side.

Three dragons guarded that portal.

Her frown deepened. "Maybe this job was better suited to Emma," she muttered.

The succubus had charm, wiles, beauty, and the right magic that could stir the souls of men and monsters alike. Seduction and misdirection were her weapons. Carla… Carla only had Claws.

But Chiron had chosen her.

And if there was one thing Carla knew, it was this:

He never chose wrong.
