Chapter 359: Minimizing Damage

Chapter 359: Minimizing Damage

The moment his words fell, every single hair on Rael’s body stood up.

What followed was the sensation of being cut.

It didn’t hurt, not at first. But soon after, a wave of blood burst from Rael’s throat.

[HP -22%! Vitality: Tier 6 [78% / 100% HP]]

His eyes widened, but before the bleeding could get out of hand, Rael clutched his own neck, pressing down tightly, causing the healing to kick in much faster.

And seconds later, the wound closed.

<Whale Destroyer Activated!>

<Ding!>

<Whale Destroyer has been set to: Daily income.>

<All the accumulated damage you have taken during the day will be evaluated and given to you past midnight.>

"Hmm... I was aiming to cut your head off. I guess you’re a bit more durable than you look, aren’t you?" Petra commented. "I can see why we wanted to recruit you. Your strength improves by leaps and bounds, and if given enough time, it could even rival the strength of our main bodies."

"Hey..." Lilith stepped forward, her presence alone fracturing the nearby space. "Do you think I don’t exist?"

"You’re a demon. I don’t care about filthy demons," Petra said, turning to Vistorian. "Wanna deal with this bitch?"

Vistorian let out a chuckle and tapped his staff onto the ground.

Immediately, a torrent of fire burst outward, enveloping Lilith from head to toe.

But with a single clap, Lilith managed to disperse the fire, and then, she glanced back at Rael.

"I’ll deal with the skinny mage. When I’m done, I’ll help you with the musclehead toddler."

With those words, she vanished from sight.

In the next moment, the far end of the throne room’s wall crumbled, and through it, he saw Lilith dragging Vistorian by the hair into the sky.

And like that, silence once again descended onto the throne room.

"She left you here with me. That’s an interesting choice," Petra said, extending his curved blade forward. "But whether that was a good decision or not remains to be seen."

As it stood, Petra had 89% of his HP remaining, whereas Rael had 78%.

It was alarming because of the tiers, and clearly, Rael needed much more HP if he wanted to fight people like this head-on.

But it was much too late to do something like that. He entered a fighting stance instead and held his Violin Blade tightly.

Then, the two kicked off the ground in unison.

Or rather, what was left of the ground, since the sheer force alone was enough to destroy the entire royal palace of Elarin.

When the two arrived in front of one another, Petra swung his curved blade down at Rael, but in turn, Rael phased through the attack and arrived right behind Petra.

<[Phase] has been triggered!><Your next attack deals 300% more damage>

He had leveled the skill to max a while ago, so with a single tap on his Violet String, he sent the attack flying into Petra’s back.

As it was about to hit, Petra turned around in an instant and slashed the note in two. Then, he took a single step forward and thrust his blade.

Rael’s eyes widened as his thoughts began to race.

But in the end, he had come up with a different strategy.

Rather, he himself wasn’t sure what he was thinking.

[MTP -500 Million | 4.519 Trillion / 4.520 Trillion [+4.500 Trillion Excess] (x1 School of Doom)]

In the very next instant, a tiny crack in space appeared, followed by 100,000 fish shooting forward, obscuring their vision.

The fish varied in sizes, but despite that, it only took a few moments for Petra to finally get rid of all the fish. He didn’t even suffer damage.

However, this skill gave Rael enough time to reposition, and of course, he did so by leaping into the sky.

As he headed toward the clouds, he noticed the sight below him, causing his brows to twitch rapidly.

A large crater marked the center of the palace, and off to the sides, a burning city.

Buildings were torn, and strong winds formed tornadoes, swirling carriages and all sorts of other debris within them. The city damage easily exceeded several billion Trell.

But that was when Petra kicked off the ground, and unlike Rael’s smoothness, Petra sent cracks throughout the ground, causing parts of the city to collapse like a landslide.

And yet, that wasn’t all. As the cracks appeared and Petra shot into the sky, a loud explosion rang out, deafening Rael for a mere moment.

He finally flew past the clouds, making the ruined city disappear from view.

Shortly after, Petra appeared and stood on the air beside him.

"Minimizing damage, are you? Haha... you’re so greedy," Petra said playfully and waved his blade around, parting the clouds and revealing the city once more. "But look here, what more is there to minimize?"

He pointed at the ruined city.

Petra began muttering some nonsense, but Rael ignored it as his eyes were locked onto one thing in particular.

Through the fallen and destroyed ground, he saw a circular object. It was massive, and surrounding it, he spotted five coils, while the rest were likely hidden further beneath the city.

Petra fell silent, then let out a chuckle.

"Well, you should’ve not seen it just yet, but I suppose the cat’s out of the bag."

Rael furrowed his brows.

"Shadow creation machine? What is that even supposed to do?" Rael asked. NovelFire

"You even know its name? Wow..." Petra said in amazement. "You sure you don’t want to join us? With your dimensional store powers, you could be a great asset to us. We’d pay you handsomely, and you won’t have to worry about anything. We’d protect you."

The offer hung in the air as Rael didn’t even entertain the thought.

And when Petra finally realized Rael had no intention of joining, he clicked his tongue and sighed.

"Very well... I guess we’re moving to phase two."

The moment he finished his words, several pop-ups appeared in front of Rael, causing his eyes to widen.
