Chapter 202: Chapter 202: You Only Care About Your Son
After Easton Holmes finished the dumplings in his bowl, he left the Dyer Family with Lily Turner.
Bella Carter originally wanted the couple to stay a little longer at home, but before she could say anything, Jaxon Dyer stopped her with a look.
Jaxon wasn’t worried about affecting anything, but when he came back earlier, he saw a car parked at Easton’s door, a car he recognized—it belonged to Easton’s mother, Amelia Linton.
Remembering the phone call he received in his office earlier, he knew his good friend’s mother had come knocking, and he suspected it must have something to do with Lily Turner.
He knew a bit about the relationship between his good friend and his mother. Easton’s mom wasn’t someone who would come by easily unannounced.
"Go upstairs and rest; I’ll clean up the dishes."
Jaxon told the pregnant Bella to go upstairs for a nap while he tidied up the dishes in the living room.
"I’ll clean up first and then go to rest."
Bella refused to listen and insisted on cleaning up before resting, but before she could take a step, Jaxon pulled her to the bottom of the stairs.
"Go rest now. Even if you’re not tired, our son is." Jaxon gently patted Bella’s growing belly, which seemed to have gotten bigger again, and his face was filled with happiness.
Bella rolled her eyes at a certain man, disgruntled, "All you care about is your son, not me at all! Look how much Easton dotes on his wife, even feeding her dumplings himself."
Recalling the scene of Easton feeding Lily dumplings, Bella’s graceful face showed envy, and her eyes were filled with longing.
"I don’t only care about my son; I also... What did you just say? Easton fed Lily dumplings?" Jaxon was halfway through his sentence when he suddenly remembered what Bella had said, and those words utterly surprised him.
His good friend actually did such a doting and cheesy thing—it was unbelievable.
This behavior was completely unlike the brother he knew!
His good friend was always ice-cold and unapproachable toward women, let alone the female soldiers in the army, and even towards Evelyn Taylor, he seemed so frosty.
When Bella saw that scene earlier, she was as surprised as Jaxon, if not more, almost thinking she had seen it wrong.
"Yeah! How could I lie about something I saw with my own eyes?" Bella knew Jaxon wasn’t questioning her, but she still complained and playfully slapped him, "Learn more from Easton on how to care for your wife."
After speaking, she turned and headed upstairs.
"Got it!"
Jaxon loudly replied that he understood to the retreating figure walking upstairs and said nothing more.
He stood there watching the figure going up until it disappeared around the corner of the stairs before slowly withdrawing his gaze.
From the look of things now, his future days wouldn’t be peaceful.
That brat! Changing his ways so quickly—how is a big brother supposed to keep up?
Jaxon shook his head with dissatisfaction and sighed helplessly, glanced at the now empty staircase, then turned and walked toward the living room.
All he knew was flaunting his affection with his wife in front of others, not caring about his big brother who still had to do the cleanup work.
