Easton Holmes wasn’t gone long before he came out of the supermarket, carrying a large bag in one hand and holding a plush toy in the other.

Since he was at a distance, Lily Turner couldn’t clearly see what was in the plastic bag or identify the plush toy he was holding.

"The supermarket is having a promotion today, you can have this toy." As soon as he got into the car, Easton Holmes stuffed the plush toy he was holding into Lily Turner’s arms. He had bought it specifically to make her happy, yet he was too proud to admit it.

Lily Turner looked down at the plush toy that had just been pushed into her arms, and only then did she see it was a teddy bear, her favorite plush toy.

"Thank you!"

She didn’t question whether there was actually a promotion at the supermarket. Unexpectedly receiving a toy she liked made her particularly happy, and she smiled while thanking the man who gave her the toy.

"Such a kid, getting so happy over a toy." Now that Lily Turner had brightened up, her beautiful face showed a rare radiant smile for the day, and Easton Holmes let out a sigh of relief; it appeared he had chosen the right toy.

Seeing her smile, his mood unknowingly lifted as well.

Upon hearing his words, Lily Turner turned her head unhappily toward the man. In that instant, she noticed the plastic bag he was holding and instinctively looked down to examine it closely.

"Why did you buy so many sunflower seeds, peanuts, and candies?" she asked, puzzled as she shifted her gaze to him.

"There’s a party at the Military Department tonight."

Easton Holmes answered casually, and as he spoke, he leaned over to place the large bag on the back seat.

"Oh!"

Lily Turner seemed to understand and responded with a simple "Oh," not asking or saying anything more, as she played with the teddy bear in her arms.

Easton Holmes had thought Lily Turner would be excitedly asking questions, but she only replied with a "Oh," making him feel somewhat disappointed. He glanced at her and then started the engine, driving away.

"Why don’t you come with me to the party tonight?"

After driving some distance in silence, he suddenly spoke up again.

Hearing Easton Holmes speak to her, Lily Turner turned her gaze from the teddy bear to him. "But it’s a party at your Military Department, wouldn’t it be inappropriate for me to go?"

In fact, she was quite curious. It was her first time encountering a military party, and she was eager to see what it was like, but would it be suitable for her, an outsider, to attend?

"Why wouldn’t it be appropriate? After all, you’re... family."

Easton Holmes almost misspoke, but he quickly recovered, "Besides, you don’t have anything else planned for tonight, so come with me and have some fun."

Tonight, he intended to formally introduce her to his comrades. She was his wife.

"Will there be other family members there?" Lily Turner asked without realizing the implication of her words.

"Yes, the captain’s wife, whom you’ve met, will be there." He would ask his good friend to bring his wife tonight when they got back.

Lily Turner furrowed her brows in confusion. Being new, she hadn’t met any captain’s wife.
