Chapter 138: Chapter 138: Later, just follow me.
Due to her fear of being followed by paparazzi, Lily Turner didn’t dare to leave the house to go to the hospital for a check-up, but she also didn’t know who to call for advice on this matter.
With no one to ask and afraid to go to the hospital, she had no choice but to sit on the sofa and search for information on her phone.
Excessive mental tension, as well as abnormal emotions like anger, sadness, annoyance, and heartbreak, could surprisingly lead to delayed menstruation.
When Lily saw this information, she found it incredible and even felt like banging her head against the wall. She’d never done something so embarrassing before in her life.
How was she supposed to explain this to others?
No one would believe her. If it were her, she wouldn’t believe it either—who could possibly not know whether they were pregnant or just late for their period?
Great, now people would definitely think she was trying to trap someone into marriage.
Just then, the phone in her hand suddenly rang, startling Lily so much that she nearly dropped it.
After composing herself, she looked at the caller ID and felt a headache coming on as she raked her fingers through her hair.
At this moment, Lily didn’t know how to face Easton Holmes. She stared blankly at the phone for a while, then hung up.
But before she could put the phone down, it started ringing again.
This time, it was still Easton calling. Lily again chose not to answer, but he called back shortly after she hung up.
Seeing how persistent he was, Lily realized he would keep calling until she picked up.
Taking a deep breath, she answered the phone, "Hello?"
"What are you doing right now? Why aren’t you answering my calls?" Easton questioned, but his tone was anything but confrontational; it was obvious that he cared about her.
Lily didn’t dare tell the truth, and even if she wanted to, she couldn’t bring herself to say it. In a panic, she made up a random excuse for not answering, "I was lying on the sofa daydreaming."
"Stop daydreaming now. Hurry up and get ready; I’ll come over to pick you up in a bit, and we’ll go out." Easton didn’t doubt her for a second, showing complete trust in her.
"You’re taking me out? Where to?"
As she asked, Lily’s mind was already racing; she wondered if there might be a way for her not to come back with Easton this time?
Before, she thought she was pregnant with his child, which was why she sent that bold message.
But now, since she wasn’t pregnant, what was the point of sticking around?
Even though some words were hard to say, she knew she had to say them eventually. The longer she put off telling the truth, the more complicated and troublesome things would become.
To avoid making things complicated, Lily decided that when she met Easton later, she would come clean about everything. Whatever punishment he wanted to dole out, she would accept it.
This was something she had to face; after all, her actions had been reckless and hasty.
She needed to learn a lesson!
But would the lesson be too harsh? Would the price she had to pay be too steep?
Easton wasn’t aware of any of this, nor could he have predicted these events. "Just get yourself ready at home and wait; you don’t need to worry about anything else. Just follow me when the time comes," he instructed.
After saying this, he ended the call, not caring whether she had anything more to say or how she reacted to his words.
