Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Don’t Pretend With Me Like This

Jaxon Dyer initially thought Luke Crowe would reveal the truth under his pressure, but he miscalculated. His recent analysis backfired.

"Captain! If there’s anything, why don’t you ask Lieutenant General directly? I’m off to deliver the keys." Luke Crowe spoke rapidly and agilely bypassed Jaxon Dyer standing in front of him, sprinting toward Easton Holmes’ house.

How could he dare to leak the leader’s secret? Wouldn’t that just cause trouble for himself?

He reckoned the captain wouldn’t make things difficult for him over this since, after all, it was Lieutenant General’s private matter.

The situation unfolded too suddenly. Jaxon Dyer hadn’t had time to react when Luke Crowe took off, leaving Jaxon to just frown in displeasure at his receding figure, without the slightest bit of anger.

If personal questioning is required, then so be it. He just didn’t believe he wouldn’t uncover the truth today.

Jaxon Dyer glanced at Luke Crowe disappearing into the distance, then turned and strode toward the Military Department.

Upon arriving at the Military Department, Jaxon Dyer didn’t return to his own office but headed directly to Easton Holmes’ office. He didn’t knock and just barged in after opening the door.

"Luke! You want to..."

Easton Holmes was working on documents when he heard someone break in. He assumed it was the reckless Luke Crowe again, but looking up, he saw it was Jaxon Dyer.

Even though Jaxon Dyer was a partner and a sworn brother to Easton Holmes, he usually did things with modesty and propriety, never acting as he did today.

"What’s going on?"

Given the abnormal situation, Easton Holmes’ first reaction was that something special had happened. He put the document down on his desk and stood up.

Jaxon Dyer walked up to Easton Holmes’ desk and smacked his hand audibly on the table. "Easton Holmes! How dare you marry a wife and not report it."

On his way over, he had carefully and repeatedly thought it through, concluding that the matter wasn’t that simple.

The good brother he knew was not a casual person. That celebrity, Lily Turner, must have a close relationship with his good brother.

If the two were still in the dating stage, he reckoned his good brother wouldn’t bring Lily Turner back to the Military District Compound.

Therefore, he boldly speculated that the two had already gotten a Marriage Certificate; otherwise, his good brother wouldn’t openly bring Lily Turner back to the Military District Compound.

"You saw Lily just now?"

Easton Holmes wasn’t at all intimidated by Jaxon Dyer’s words. His expression was natural, and his tone was calm, with no hint of surprise or upset.

Jaxon Dyer hadn’t expected Easton Holmes to react this way. Shouldn’t he have been surprised and shocked? Yet his good brother reacted so calmly.

Sigh! His little drama had been for nothing.

Oh well, if it was in vain, so be it. The priority now was to get to the bottom of things.

"I not only saw her, but I also took her back to our house." As he said this, he suddenly raised his hand to point at his good brother standing behind the desk. "You’ve really got an eye for things, marrying home such a star."

Through Jaxon Dyer’s words, Easton Holmes had already figured out the gist of the situation. Thinking of how his good brother had brought back the locked-out Lily Turner, he unprecedentedly thanked his good brother, "Thanks, brother!"

"Don’t you give me that phony act. Something this big, and you didn’t tell me? I see you never really considered me a brother deep down."

Easton Holmes’ unprecedented thanks were met with disdain by Jaxon Dyer.
