Easton Holmes arrived at the training ground to find that the soldiers had already assembled, waiting for him, the commander, to give orders.

Having been delayed at home, he was two minutes late when he got to the training ground, and to punish himself for this tardiness, he decided to run ten kilometers with weights.

This punishment was twice as harsh as what soldiers would receive. He wasn’t doing this for show; it was his principle in how he conducted himself and his rules for military discipline.

"Leader! You..."

"Hurry up and get to training."

Easton was exceptionally strict with himself usually, never enjoying privileges just because he was a leader, and he always arrived at the training ground before the soldiers gathered each morning.

His late arrival today was unusual and left everyone except Luke Crowe surprised and puzzled, not knowing why someone as strict as him would be late.

Luke wanted to stop Easton from running with weights, not because Easton was their leader, but because it was Easton’s wedding night the night before, and he thought Easton’s lateness was understandable.

But before he could even voice his objections, he was cut off directly by his leader.

His leader had instructed them to keep the marriage secret for the time being, and as for when to make it public, they were to wait for orders.

While Easton had already begun his training, Lily Turner was also starting to be busy. The words he said when leaving had left her without a trace of sleep.

She wasn’t supposed to go out, but she was determined to see how he would react.

Lily got out of bed to the bathroom to freshen up a little, and after confirming she was all right, she took her phone and headed downstairs.

Upon hearing someone knocking on the door, Lily’s steps paused unconsciously, but she didn’t stop. She quickly took a few steps to the door and leaned against the peephole to look outside.

Standing outside was a young man in military uniform. She hesitated for a moment but then reached out to open the door.

"Who are you looking for?" she asked politely.

The young soldier replied with courtesy, "Hello! I am Elder Li’s guard. Elder Li asked me to come and take you to see him."

When Lily opened the door, she thought this young soldier was sent by Easton Holmes, but what puzzled and surprised her was that this young soldier was sent by someone else.

Elder Li! That title sounds like a man of great respect and authority.

But who exactly is this Elder Li? Why does he want to see her?

She had only arrived here yesterday, and that man hadn’t taken her to meet anyone.

"Does Elder Li know me?" Lily asked, pointing to herself while facing the young soldier at the door.

The young soldier shook his head truthfully, "He does not."

"Then why does he want to see me?" No sooner had Lily asked this when she suddenly thought of something and asked, "Is this Elder Li Easton Holmes’ superior?"

Why would his leader want to see her? Did she fail as his wife?

The young soldier neither nodded nor shook his head, nor did he answer Lily’s question. Instead, he stepped aside to make way, "Let’s go! Elder Li is waiting to see you."

"Can I not go?"

Lily didn’t know who this Elder Li was, and she didn’t know how to face him if she saw him. However, if she didn’t go, she worried it might affect Easton Holmes; what if this Elder Li was really his superior?

The young soldier shook his head, "Let’s go!"

"Then wait a minute, I’ll get the keys."

Grabbing the keys was merely an excuse. She didn’t have the keys here; it was just a pretext.

She had to find a chance to inform the man out at training, lest he come back and not find her and think she snuck away. She didn’t want him to misunderstand and devise some way to deal with her.

Before the young soldier could respond, Lily turned and returned inside, dialing Easton Holmes’ phone number as she walked, but the phone rang for a long time, and he did not pick up.

She didn’t call him a second time; to save time and let him know her situation immediately, she sent him a text message.

"An Elder Li insists on meeting me. After you see this message, come find me immediately!!!"
