Rabbit Must Die
Chapter 823 - 419: Fall

Chapter 823: Chapter 419: Fall

The second year, basically no one visited the Moon anymore; what came instead were more war reports from the Heavenly Court.

"In the ninth month of the second year of the Gods War, the Black Mirror launched a major invasion, and both sides engaged in combat within the Tanlang Star Field, suffering heavy casualties, with the Black Mirror’s troops losing three Great Golden Immortals!"

"In the late tenth month of the second year of the Gods War, the gods from the Thunder Department, led by Wen Zhong, fought against the Black Avatar of Wen Zhong and were ambushed by the gods of the Fire God. The Thunder Department’s gods all fell, with Wen Zhong dying in battle!"

"In the eleventh month of the second year of the Gods War, Muzha was besieged in the Kui Wood Wolf Star Field. Li Jing led Jinzha and Nezha to the rescue, only to be ambushed by the Black Avatar of Li Jing. The clash between both sides was intense and indistinguishable. Later, Li Jing’s whereabouts became unknown, and Jinzha, Muzha, and Nezha escaped back..."

...

"Ah... Are you really going?" Qin Shou stood outside Fenghua City, watching the graceful figure with the magic sword strapped to her back, and asked.

Li Zhenying turned around with a smile and said, "Yes, I am leaving."

Qin Shou said, "Well... your father wants you to stay here."

Li Zhenying laughed and said, "I’ve always listened to him since I was little. He told me not to practice cultivation, and I didn’t. He told me to go to Wenqu Star Palace to study, and I did. Whatever he told me to do, I did... But this time, I want to be rebellious for once." As she laughed, tears began to stream down Li Zhenying’s face.

With a light swipe of her hand, her tears flew away with the wind, and Li Zhenying puffed out her chest and said, "My three brothers are severely injured and can’t go find my father. I must go on this journey. Rabbit, goodbye!"

Having said that, Li Zhenying turned and walked forward.

Unable to resign himself to this fate, Qin Shou shouted, "You must come back!"

Li Zhenying’s crisp voice rang out, "Mm! I still want to study at Wenqu Palace!"

Mutou and Chongba said, "We’ll go with you!"

Li Zhenying drew her sword and said, "Whoever dares to follow me, I will die right here on the Moon!"

...

Every day, Qin Shou and the others looked up at the starry sky, but they never saw that delicate and endearing girl return...

"In the third month of the third year of the Gods War, the Heavenly Court battled the Black Mirror in the Lianzhen Star Field. The Lianzhen Star Monarch led three billion heavenly soldiers against the enemy forces, suffering a bitter defeat. Under the desperate rescue by the Wenqu Star Monarch, the Lianzhen Star Monarch retreated with severe injuries."

Qin Shou rushed to the Heavenly Court overnight to see the Wenqu Star Monarch.

The Wenqu Star Monarch had lost an arm, and the opponent’s methods were extremely ruthless that even with the Wenqu Star Monarch’s Divine Body, he couldn’t heal himself!

"Teacher..." Qin Shou wanted to say something.

The Wenqu Star Monarch patted Qin Shou’s shoulder and said, "I had already heard about your situation. You went to Black Mirror and came back to peacefully manage the Moon Palace bathhouse. That’s pretty good."

Qin Shou hung his head, silent.

The Wenqu Star Monarch said, "Say what you want to say."

Qin Shou said, "Teacher, am I being too selfish?"

The Wenqu Star Monarch smiled and said, "What makes you say that?"

Qin Shou sighed, "For some reasons, as long as I don’t join the war, the Black Mirror won’t attack the Moon, and the people I protect will be safe. But if I don’t go out there, my friends and my teachers are suffering, and I don’t know which way to go."

The Wenqu Star Monarch rubbed Qin Shou’s head and said, "Rabbit, among all the students I’ve taught, you’re the naughtiest but also the smartest one. There are some things for which you have your own judgment in your heart, don’t you?"

Qin Shou said morosely, "It’s just that I don’t know if my choice is right or wrong. Li Zhenying went into the starry sky, and although I know she’s still alive, my heart still aches because I can’t help her..."

The Wenqu Star Monarch said, "But you’ve helped many more people, haven’t you? If there wasn’t the Moon as a major rear base to protect everyone’s loved ones, who among the people fighting on the front lines could fight with peace of mind? What you’re doing now may seem like nothing, but in fact, you’ve already solved half of everyone’s problems."

Qin Shou bowed his head and said nothing.

Wenqu Star Monarch said, "Of course, whatever choice you make in the end, I will support you. Remember, there are no wrong choices in this world; if there are, it’s only when they go against your heart!"

Astonished, Qin Shou looked up at the Wenqu Star Monarch, then after giving a deep bow, turned and left.

Once again seated at the entrance of the Moon Palace, watching the cool breeze flutter through the osmanthus forest, its trees scattering blossoms in the sky, Qin Shou couldn’t help but let out a long sigh.

Behind him, Chang’e approached and sat down beside him, saying, "Could you tell me what’s on your mind?"

Qin Shou looked up at Chang’e.

Chang’e said, "I know you’ve always been a bit of a male chauvinist, preferring to shoulder the burdens of the outside world by yourself and reluctant to bring them home to worry me. But the way you are now, this isn’t the you I want to see... We’ve been together for so many years, times tougher than now by far. Yet back then we were still simple and happy. But recently, you’ve been unhappy, and so have I.

Even the whole of Fenghua City, the entire Moon, seem to have lost much of its laughter."

Lying on Chang’e’s thigh and looking at the starry sky and her delicate face, Qin Shou said, "I don’t know what to say. I currently have two paths before me... and I am on the broadest one.

Chang’e asked, "Do you want to take the narrower path?"

Qin Shou shook his head and replied, "I don’t know; at least, for now, I can’t take the narrower path."

Just then, Yaoji came running in a flurry, exclaiming, "I, Rabbit Lord, this is terrible!"

Qin Shou frowned and said, "What’s the matter? Speak properly!"

Out of breath and shivering, Yaoji said, "Emperor Gouchen is dead!"

Qin Shou uttered a sound before suddenly standing up, "What?!"

Yaoji nodded and said, "The people of Emperor Gouchen were besieged by Black Mirror, and Emperor Gouchen himself went to war, and then..."

Qin Shou asked, "He got beat up by the Overlord of Black Mirror?"

Yaoji shook his head, "No, he encountered the Black Avatar of Gouchen!"

Qin Shou exclaimed, "Impossible! The Black Avatar’s strength cannot be greater than the original!"

Yaoji replied with a bitter smile, "However, the opponent was indeed stronger than the original. No one knows what happened... Emperor Gouchen fought the opponent, and then news came that Emperor Gouchen had fallen. Rabbit Lord... the situation may have changed."

Three days later, a disheveled navy soldier ran up to the Moon, fell to his knees at the entrance of the Moon Palace, and wept, "Rabbit Lord... my home... my Marshal is gone! Wuuu..."

When Qin Shou heard someone crying, he hurried out. On closer inspection, he recognized the soldier.

Chang’e said, "You are... the personal soldier of Marshal Tianpeng?"

The soldier nodded vigorously, sobbing as he pulled out a silk letter from his chest and handed it over, "Before my Marshal fell, he asked me to bring this to the Moon, wuuu... Now that I’ve delivered it, I will take my leave!"

After speaking, the soldier rose to his feet, slapped the broken sword on his waist, and took off!

Qin Shou called out, "Where are you going?"

Without looking back, the soldier shouted, "I’m going to fight back!"

Qin Shou said, "Have you gone mad? You will die! Stay here..."

The soldier’s voice carried far as he replied, "Everyone’s dead, I don’t want to be a deserter; I want to go back, to either kill the enemy or die on the battlefield!"

Qin Shou’s heart ached. He opened the silk letter to find, to his astonishment, that it was addressed to him, not Chang’e!
