Chapter 578: Chapter 182 Eating Meat is Not the Same as Eating Greasy Food_1

After speaking, Qin Shou held a piece of clothing up in front of him to compare...

Before long, the sound of footsteps arose, followed by the door being pushed open and a loud yell: "Damn rabbit, wake up!"

Yelling for someone to wake up naturally doesn’t require such volume, so it was clear that the person had ill intentions.

The visitor was none other than Xunxiang.

As a result, Xunxiang’s shout and pushing open the door coincided with Qin Shou suddenly getting up, flicking the clothing like a young girl who had just been intruded upon in the bath by a pervert, and screaming: "Ah! Rogue!"

Xunxiang initially felt something was off about his head, but Qin Shou’s sudden scream and flick of the clothing immediately drew his attention. Upon seeing the rabbit in such a state, he couldn’t help but want to laugh and scold: "You’re just a rabbit, covered in fur, what’s there to cover up?"

However, before he could speak, whoosh!

Xunxiang’s smile instantly froze on his face.

Then, Qin Shou casually tossed aside the clothing and said: "Well then... no need to cover up, off to school we go!"

Having said that, Qin Shou had already jumped out of the window.

Xunxiang wiped the water off his face before finally regaining his composure and roaring: "Damn rabbit scoundrel!"

Although Xunxiang was very dissatisfied with Qin Shou, extremely dissatisfied, even filled with resentment, under the protection of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, she really couldn’t do anything to the rabbit.

Therefore, on the way up the mountain, Xunxiang almost walked behind the rabbit the whole time, glaring at Qin Shou with eyes that seemed to wish they could glare the rabbit to death.

Upon reaching the mountain top, Qin Shou saw a cave dwelling with an open space outside it where many children were already gathered. Qin Shou glanced over and could tell that these children were likely all from ordinary families—each one chubby and healthy, the boys looking sturdy and the girls with cute, braided pigtails.

Qin Shou’s arrival caught the attention of many students; they all looked over curiously and whispered amongst themselves.

"Oh my, is that the rabbit?"

"So cute..."

"The rabbit doesn’t seem taller than me, and I’m the shortest in my class..."

"His teeth are so long; he must be fierce, right?"

...

The crowd buzzed with chatter...

Seeing that these children were quite cute, Qin Shou walked over, smiling at everyone along the way.

The bolder children reached out to touch Qin Shou, and he did not stop them, letting everyone satisfy their curiosity with a touch.

Thump!

The sound of a wooden fish echoed, and immediately all the children sat up straight, no longer whispering to each other or paying attention to the rabbit.

Only then did Qin Shou notice a young monk in a bright red robe sitting on a cushion in front of him, with a huge wooden fish in front, holding a mallet in one hand and a string of Buddha Beads in the other, displaying a gentle and modest expression. When he saw Qin Shou looking at him, he also gave a slight smile and nodded at Qin Shou.

Upon a closer look, Qin Shou burst into laughter and exclaimed: "Brother He, you’re here too!"

Xunxiang glared at Qin Shou, "What are you shouting about?"

However, Qin Shou didn’t listen at all, he had already dashed over, and then plopped himself down on the wooden fish, chuckling, "Brother He, what’s good to eat today?"

Xunxiang covered her face and turned away, "I... I don’t know this person!"

"Sister Xunxiang, who is that little monk?" asked Li Zhenying timidly.

Upon hearing this, Xunxiang gave a wry smile and saluted the young monk, "One of the Eight Heavenly Dragons, Kaitabha, pays his respects to Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha."

Qin Shou was startled, suddenly looked up, and watched the little monk in amazement, "You’re Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha?!"

The little monk gave a warm smile to Qin Shou, "Amitabha, didn’t I introduce myself yesterday?"

Qin Shou rolled his eyes and smacked the monk’s bald head, "You said you were Ksitigarbha, but you never said you were Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha!"

"Damn rabbit, don’t be disrespectful!" Xunxiang immediately scolded Qin Shou for actually hitting Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha on the head.

Yet, the damn rabbit didn’t pay her any attention at all.

What made her even more frustrated was that Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha seemed not to be upset by Qin Shou’s disrespectful act at all, and still spoke with a smile, "Is there a difference between Ksitigarbha and Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha?"

Qin Shou thought about it and it seemed there really was no difference, and the only person who could steal a kitchen from the mansion of Fengdu was probably him.

However, Qin Shou was not at all afraid of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. After some interaction, he had gotten to know a bit about the personality of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. The key point was, as the saying goes, brothers have three loyalties: shared hardships in battle, studied together, and shared... well, although stealing didn’t count as one of these loyalties, those who were in trouble knew very well what sort of people they were.

Therefore, no matter how grand and lofty Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha was in the eyes of others, to Qin Shou, he was just an accomplice in theft.

So, Qin Shou sat down beside Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha with a plop, nudged him in the waist with his shoulder—his height just allowed him to reach there—and whispered, "Since you’re Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, you should be able to eat meat and drink wine without anyone worrying, right? How about together tonight?"

Though Qin Shou’s voice was low, how many normal people were present there?

Hearing Qin Shou speak to Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha like that, everyone glared at Qin Shou with eyes that seemed to desire his death.

Xunxiang bluntly said, "Damn rabbit, you dare to eat meat on Buddha Mountain? Are you sick of living?"

But Qin Shou retorted confidently, "I’m eating meat, not making you eat it. Why are you getting worked up? You dare to kill, so why should it be illegal for me to eat meat?"

Xunxiang spat out disdainfully, "I, Kaitabha, have spent my life slaying Demons and defending the path. When have I ever killed at will? The clear rules and precepts of our Buddhism forbid the consumption of meat. Everyone knows this. You’re eating meat on the mountain; that is provoking our bottom line!"

Qin Shou curled his lip, crossed his arms, and laughed, "Kaitabha, since you know that eating meat is against the precepts, do you know how ’meat’ is written?"

Xunxiang replied, "’Meat’ is written with ’grass’ radical over the character ’army.’ What of it?"

Qin Shou said, "Since you know that ’meat’ starts with the ’grass’ radical, you should also know that the original five meats weren’t actually meat! If I’m not mistaken, the five spices, due to their pungent and intoxicating nature, were considered the five meats. Alchemists took garlic, leeks, chives, mustards, and coriander as the five meats; Taoists used leeks, rakkyo, garlic, mustards, and coriander; Buddhism had garlic, onions, asafoetida, Jiucai, and shen qu. Among the five meats, all were plants; where’s the actual meat?"

Upon hearing this, Xunxiang was immediately dumbfounded and looked at Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha for help, only to see the Bodhisattva gazing down at the wooden fish in front of him, seemingly deep in thought.

Looking at the others, especially those students, each one of them had brightly shining eyes as they looked at the rabbit, their gaze akin to seeing a savior!

Xunxiang realized that if she could not refute the rabbit’s argument, she feared that by tomorrow, these kids would all start wreaking havoc on the mountain’s small animals...
