Rabbit Must Die -
Chapter 385 - 380 Causality Severance [Part 1]
Chapter 385: Chapter 380 Causality Severance [Part 1]
Chang’e said, "I don’t know, my heart hurts so much... so much... I... Yu’er, it must be Yu’er!"
With that, Chang’e suddenly stood up and rushed out of Yuying Hall, heading straight for the Southern Gate.
Qin Shou looked down at the blood on his chest, dabbed a bit with his hand, looked at it, and said in utter confusion, "Blood? Am I dying?"
In the distance, Qin Shou could still see Lv Yue’s ghastly smile, the furrowed brows of Yuheng, the sighing of the stars, the Mighty Spirit who turned his head away, unable to bear the sight... the Monkey clenched the Golden Cudgel, the little tree had shed all its leaves, the Eight Trigrams Furnace turned away, and the skeleton tilted its head...
Qin Shou grimaced and said, "This..."
Then Qin Shou’s vision went dark, and he could no longer see clearly, but he could still hear.
"Monkey, what are you doing? This is the Heavenly Court!" Lv Yue was scolding.
"This is the Heavenly Court? Ahahaha... this is a ruin!"
Boom!
Continuous screams and the sounds of battle were incessant!
At the same time, Qin Shou could also hear the roaring of the Eight Trigrams Furnace, the rustling of leaves, the rattling of skeleton bones...
Amidst the confusion, Qin Shou heard Niu Dali’s voice, "Am I late? You all can die! Old Daddy, just watch, I’m going to tear down your West Niuhe Continent!"
Then there was the sound of war drums and thunder, followed by an authoritative and domineering voice, "Son, you really are... Everyone, attack!"
The cry of the Phoenix rose, and Jiucai wailed, "Ancestor!"
"All right, stop crying, when we capture Gouchen, your ancestor will beat him up for you!"
"Whoosh..." the sound of water rose, followed by the sound as if countless seeds were sprouting, and a stammering voice came through, "Dad... Dad... fight!"
"Gouchen, come over here!" an overwhelmingly domineering voice commanded!
Then a strange voice kept screaming as if enduring a wretched beating.
...
Many familiar voices echoed in his ears, but Rabbit could hear them less and less clearly; he felt as though he was falling into the Three Lives Road, and yet not...
The sound of the fight grew more distant, and then he heard countless exclamations, "What is this thing?"
Screams suddenly overwhelmed all other sounds of battle as if a great slaughter was occurring outside...
Qin Shou worried about his friends, but no matter how hard he tried to open his eyes, it was futile; everything before him grew increasingly dark, and the sounds around him grew fainter until he plunged into darkness.
Qin Shou had a dream, a very strange one, in a dark space, then countless screams, an extremely noisy cacophony, and the sounds of heaven and earth shattering; he seemed to hear his master on Fangcun Mountain sighing...
"Wow!"
Qin Shou suddenly sat up, then, with a jolt, leaped to his feet, shouting while looking around, "Don’t..."
However, before he could finish speaking, Qin Shou realized that something was off about the surroundings.
Skyscrapers stood tall around him, the sky was overcast with dark clouds... and faintly, the roar of airplanes could be heard coming from behind the clouds.
"What is this?" Qin Shou was full of question marks, and then he suddenly looked down at his own body and breathed a long sigh of relief.
"Good, still covered in fur, still a rabbit. Everything before wasn’t a dream." Qin Shou thought to himself, then snapped his fingers, and a flame ignited in his hand. Seeing that his mana and magic were still intact, he was completely reassured.
He came to the side of the tall building and looked down. Below, the traffic was bustling, and everything gave off a familiar vibe.
But for some reason, Qin Shou didn’t know why the world he had longed for now seemed a bit strange to him.
He knew it was because there were too many things he couldn’t let go of in the Earthly Immortal Realm, and as for Earth... if there was anything he couldn’t let go of...
Qin Shou sighed, shook his head, and said, "I don’t even know how to go back. I should go pay respects to Old Master Qin first."
Just as Qin Shou had guessed, he had truly returned to Earth. However, this was Earth ten years later.
When he returned to the familiar village, he noticed significant changes. The original mud-brick houses had been replaced with two-story buildings.
Where the village once bustled at each end, now few shadows of people could be seen, and even the children who used to romp around in groups were not as many, with just a spattering of two or three kids sitting in the shade, playing with their phones.
In the fields, no one was seen farming. Instead, under some sheds, the sound of mahjong tiles clattered loudly. Some toddlers sat on the ground, gazing dimly at the world.
Some familiar faces had gotten older, others had matured...
The bullies who used to strut around the village with tattoos have washed off their ink, quit smoking, and were sitting and watching TV with their kids.
The teacher from the old days still liked to sit on the side, smoking and watching "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" that he never seemed to tire of.
The big yellow dog from the neighbor’s house was gone, and no one knew if it had died of old age or had been stolen by dog thieves...
In short, the village was still the same village, but the people had changed; they had become desolate, they had matured.
Qin Shou did not enter the village. At this moment, he could not perform many techniques of transformation, and his best was turning into a dog. But becoming a big black dog that was not from this village would probably not endear him to anyone.
Besides, there was no point in doing so, as the old house had long been leveled.
Qin Shou went straight into the mountains. To his surprise, he had thought that Old Master Qin’s grave would be neglected after ten years without care; he expected the grave mound to be almost washed away by heavy rain!
However, the grave of Old Master Qin was still well-kept, not only free of excessive weeds but also with fresh soil on top. There were traces on the ground where incense and paper money had been burned, clearly indicating that someone had tended to the site after Qin Shou left.
"I don’t know who the kind person is who helped, but if I have the chance, I must thank them," Qin Shou lamented.
Qin Shou respectfully kowtowed three times to Old Master Qin’s grave and sighed, "Dad, when I left here, I felt reluctant to leave and wanted to come back. But now, I find myself missing that other place, and yet, I can’t return. Tell me, why is my fate so hard? Give me some advice, will you?"
Regrettably, Old Master Qin was destined to be unable to answer his question.
Qin Shou sensed that there were no souls lingering in the grave anymore.
With a long sigh, Qin Shou spent the day sitting idly on the grave mound.
He didn’t know how much time had passed when suddenly, footsteps approached from the outside. Qin Shou quickly hid in the bushes.
Before long, a woman came to the grave and exclaimed with surprise, "Someone has been here?"
The woman looked around and saw no one, shook her head slightly, and muttered, "How strange... wasn’t it agreed that this year it was my family’s turn to take care of Old Master’s grave? Why would someone else meddle with it?"
After speaking, the woman bowed to Old Master Qin’s grave, took out a cup, poured three rounds of wine, placed them on the grave, then lit incense and kowtowed, muttering, "Old Master Qin, I’m here to see you again. It’s our family’s turn to look after you this year. However, my grandfather broke his leg in a motorcycle accident a couple of days ago and couldn’t make it, so they sent me to pour you a drink."
