Chapter 310: Chapter 307: Visiting the Rabbit’s Grave [Subscribe Request]_1
Jiucai glared at Qin Shou, puffing up with rage, "If you dare eat him, I’ll fight you to the death!"
Qin Shou said, "Look at what you’re saying. Let me tell you, my cooking skills are out of this world! I guarantee, after I finish cooking, just one whiff of the smell and you’ll want to eat it!"
Jiucai huffed, "Do you think I’m like you? I wouldn’t eat a bite even if you killed me!"
Qin Shou slapped his palm and said, "Remember, those are your words!"
Jiucai lifted her head, "We of the Phoenix Clan, when we speak, Heaven follows, we never lie!"
Qin Shou said, "Fine, you don’t eat, just stand aside and watch!"
Then Qin Shou grabbed the bloody, elongated object, and threw his hat onto the ground in frustration!
The Eight Trigrams Furnace immediately grew larger, howling with eagerness, "Quick, quick, quick! It’s been so long since I’ve cooked, I can’t wait any longer!"
"Rabbit, you dare!" Jiucai, trembling with fury, screeched.
But Qin Shou ignored her. With a wave of his hand, a chopping block appeared, and he wielded the cleaver, chopping away... Piece by piece, the meat was cut off, washed clean, and tossed into the Eight Trigrams Furnace.
"Rabbit! Don’t go too far! Waaaah... Chongba, I’m so sorry..." Jiucai denounced Qin Shou while bursting into tears.
Jiucai tried to stop Qin Shou, but alas, though this rabbit wasn’t much in magic, it was extraordinarily strong! And its skin and flesh were incredibly thick!
When Jiucai breathed fire, at most Qin Shou would just be charred black.
When Jiucai struck with her staff, sparks would fly off this rabbit’s forehead, but it was no big deal!
Jiucai tried to drag the rabbit away to stop its bloody conduct, but alas, when this rabbit started moving, she simply couldn’t hold on to it...
"Rabbit, you’re forcing my hand!" Jiucai glared and from her bosom pulled out a fiery red feather, saying, "Rabbit, this is the tail feather of a phoenix, bestowed with divine power by my father. If I use it, it’ll trap you for a whole year, no problem!"
Qin Shou rolled his eyes and said, "Jiucai, is that thing as sturdy as Supreme Elder Lord’s Eight Trigrams Furnace?"
Jiucai blinked, confused, "What do you mean?"
The Eight Trigrams Furnace laughed heartily, "Little girl, don’t waste your strength. Your feather is precious, but I’m much more precious than that feather! I can’t even withstand this rabbit’s bite, let alone that feather of yours— at best it’ll just be an appetizer for him."
Upon hearing this, Jiucai’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at the furnace, obsessed with stewing, and exclaimed, "You’re the Dao Ancestor’s Eight Trigrams Furnace?"
The Eight Trigrams Furnace raised its head as if it was a matter of course, "Genuine and original! If you don’t believe me, go ask Golden Spirit and Silver Spirit."
"You... you’re a Pill Furnace, aren’t you?" Jiucai was utterly bewildered.
The Eight Trigrams Furnace sighed deeply, "I too thought I was an Alchemy Furnace once... Unfortunately, the Dao Ancestor has been gone to the Purple Sky Palace for countless ages. He doesn’t come back, so where do I perform alchemy... Loneliness in the mountains is tough, so honing my cooking skills became a fine pastime. Besides, I feel like I’m more talented in cooking than in alchemy!"
Jiucai: "..."
Turning to Qin Shou, Jiucai yelled, "Rabbit! You’ve corrupted the Pill Furnace!"
Qin Shou replied with a wronged tone, "What do you mean ’corrupted’? I’m just helping it discover a hobby and make use of its spare time! Don’t interrupt, hey Cauldron, did I add salt just now?"
"No! You haven’t added anything yet! Hurry up!" the Eight Trigrams Furnace called out.
Jiucai, witnessing this shameless duo, looked down at the feather in her hand and realized she couldn’t stop their despicable behaviors at all! Her face contorted with frustration, sadness, and gloom... as she watched Chongba’s body being stewed, sorrow overwhelmed her, and she began to weep loudly.
Qin Shou watched Jiucai crying, a mischievous smile forming on his face...
The Eight Trigrams Furnace whispered, "Rabbit, aren’t you being a bit too cruel? I can guarantee that what’s in that furnace is just a Flood Dragon, and not your friend!"
Qin Shou sent back a telepathic retort, scolding, "Jiucai’s a fool, are you being stupid, too? Didn’t you see Chongba behind the White Bone Hall just now?"
The Eight Trigrams Furnace was taken aback, then chuckled mischievously, "You damn rabbit, could you get any worse? Bullying a girl like this?"
Qin Shou let out a deep sigh, "Ah, you still don’t get it."
The Eight Trigrams Furnace asked, "What don’t I get?"
Gazing at the sky with an expression full of vicissitudes, Qin Shou said, "In this world, there is a pleasure called teasing young girls. If you don’t bully them, where’s the fun in that?"
The Eight Trigrams Furnace: "..."
These words went unheard by Jiucai, who only wept helplessly on the side.
Meanwhile, cooking with the Eight Trigrams Furnace was quick, and before long, a sumptuous dish of stewed dragon meat was freshly served.
Qin Shou then picked up a large iron basin and laughed heartily, "Time to enjoy this delicacy!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Qin Shou charged into the White Bone Hall with the large iron basin. Between the opening and closing of the great doors, outsiders couldn’t see inside.
Jiucai, mistaking the rabbit’s intentions, cried even harder, ready to run back and tell Wenqu to give this rabbit a sound thrashing with a board... All the while, she sorrowfully apologized to Chongba.
About ten minutes or so passed, and the door opened again; the rabbit emerged, chewing on a bone, slurping and sucking on it before crunching it down, swallowed!
Seeing this, Jiucai yelled, "Stop eating! You damn rabbit, can’t you leave something for Chongba? There’s nothing left to mark his grave now!"
Qin Shou shook his head and said nonchalantly, "Mark what grave? It’s all inside I, the rabbit’s stomach now; I am a walking grave. If you want to pay your respects, just worship my belly."
Qin Shou was just speaking off the cuff, but to his surprise, the little Fire Chicken took him seriously, nodding solemnly before rushing over and pulling the rabbit’s ear, "Lie down!"
Qin Shou, taken aback, asked, "Lie down for what?"
Jiucai replied with utter seriousness, "Just lie down! Don’t talk! Cooperate!"
Qin Shou, seeing Jiucai’s red, pitiful eyes, smacked his lips, but eventually lay down.
Jiucai walked around Qin Shou, found the right angle, and while touching his round belly, seemed contemplative, "This angle is just right, barely passable for a grave marker."
Qin Shou: "..."
The Eight Trigrams Furnace couldn’t help but burst into laughter, "Wahaha... This silly girl really fell for it, haha!"
Qin Shou opened his mouth to respond, but as soon as he did, three sticks of incense were stuck into his mouth, and Jiucai’s solemn voice followed, "Don’t move! We’re at a grave here! Show some respect!"
Watching Jiucai’s earnestness, Qin Shou began to regret fooling the naive girl.
Then he saw Jiucai pay respects to his belly, bowing deeply and murmuring, "Oh Chongba, I’m so sorry for what happened to you. It was my fault you ended up dying here. And now, you don’t even have a decent grave, poor you, buried in this damn rabbit’s stomach. Chongba, if you have a spirit in Heaven, curse this rabbit to burst from gluttony..."
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou’s eyes lit up and he interjected, "That’s well said!"
"Shut up! Show some seriousness, we’re honoring the deceased here! Hold the incense steady!" scolded Jiucai.
Qin Shou was speechless, lying still and quiet.
While Jiucai was reciting this long eulogy, the doors of the White Bone Hall opened once more, and Chongba’s voice could be heard, "Jiucai, Rabbit, what are you doing?"
At that, Jiucai was startled!
Then, Jiucai felt a breeze and heard the sound of footsteps thudding on the floor as someone ran away!
Turning her head, Jiucai saw a rabbit speeding off into the distance!
Turning back towards the door, she caught a glimpse of Chongba looking curiously over at them.
In an instant, Jiucai realized what was going on and nearly screamed, "You damn rabbit! Don’t you run, I’ll kill you! Pay me back for my tears, for my grief!"
Afterward, Jiucai chased after Qin Shou too.
Chongba stood there, scratching his head, utterly confused about what had just transpired outside. He then turned back to the White Bone Hall and respectfully bowed, "Thanks to my master for the teachings!"
A cold voice from inside the hall came forth, "You can hardly call me your master; what was passed on to you was your ancestors’ legacy. It’s simply karma... If you really want to repay this favor, just remember what I have cautioned you."
Chongba bowed once again, "Yes, Master!"
The woman remained silent, and it was unclear whether she acknowledged or rejected the title.
Without waiting for the woman’s response, Chongba bowed three times and took his leave...
