Chapter 442: Chapter 439: Movie Queen 6
Zheng Mingjing smiled very politely at Bai Qiao Xin, but his refusal was straightforward and crisp, "I’m really sorry, there are currently no roles suitable for you in my crew. If you enjoy acting, you could try joining other crews in the film city for small roles. It’s quite easy to get into acting these days; you don’t necessarily have to come to my crew."
Zheng Mingjing’s rejection made Bai Qiao Xin’s face turn from blue to white, looking quite displeased. She certainly knew that it was easy to become a bit actor nowadays, but if she was willing to play small roles, she wouldn’t have gone to such great lengths to approach him!
Even though Zheng Mingjing rejected her plainly, Bai Qiao Xin still didn’t want to give up. She continued to smile, saying, "But you’re the director I admire the most. I just want to act in your crew, I’m not familiar with those directors. It wouldn’t hurt to assign me a minor role in your crew."
Zheng Mingjing frowned slightly; he didn’t expect Bai Qiao Xin to be so tactless, bothering him after hearing his refusal. Although he’s not a star, he’s still a public figure, so he couldn’t treat Bai Qiao Xin too harshly, in case someone captured their interaction and posted it online.
"There are no roles for you in my crew now. If you’re really eager to act in my crew, just come to audition next time I’m filming." This was a delaying tactic; he wasn’t even certain where the next filming would take place.
After being rejected by Zheng Mingjing repeatedly, even Bai Qiao Xin with her thick skin couldn’t sit still. She tried to hold back but couldn’t help glaring at Ning Shuangshuang with resentment and anger before leaving unhappily. Since she couldn’t latch onto a big name, she had no desire to continue pretending to be a little fan.
If it weren’t for Zheng Mingjing’s reputation as a genius director being so big, and her fear of offending him making it difficult for her to survive in the entertainment industry later, Bai Qiao Xin would have lashed out at Zheng Mingjing.
After Bai Qiao Xin left, Ning Shuangshuang quickly returned to the counter to serve other customers. She hadn’t forgotten that she was still a waitress at the café, and her main task was to attend to guests, not chat idly with them, even though she would soon be leaving.
When resigning from the café that evening, the boss was reluctant to let her go. Ning Shuangshuang worked diligently and spoke eloquently, making her quite likable. Ultimately, it was Ning Shuangshuang’s insistence on leaving that made the boss reluctantly give up persuading her.
Early the next morning, Ning Shuangshuang followed the address given by Zheng Mingjing and found the crew where he was filming. Since Zheng Mingjing had already made arrangements, Ning Shuangshuang was soon taken to see him upon arrival.
At that moment, Zheng Mingjing was busy filming. Seeing Ning Shuangshuang, he handed her a script and instructed her to carefully consider the role she was to play before getting busy with other tasks.
Ning Shuangshuang wasn’t concerned. She read the script by herself. With such a minor role, acting was naturally effortless for Ning Shuangshuang, but others weren’t aware of her skills, so she pretended to read the script seriously.
Soon, filming began on the other side. Ning Shuangshuang diligently mimicked watching the filming as instructed by Zheng Mingjing. Of course, if the busy crew and support staff needed help, Ning Shuangshuang was quick to lend a hand.
Though these crew and support staff weren’t stars, they frequently interacted closely with them, and their words could greatly impact the stars’ reputations, either positively or negatively.
Ning Shuangshuang now helped these people, demonstrating humility and warmth, which would help build good relationships so that they wouldn’t speak ill of her after she became famous, which was a significant gain.
During filming, the support staff were all extremely busy, working hard across the set. With Ning Shuangshuang there to assist whenever needed, they genuinely appreciated how considerate she was, leaving a good impression of her.
During meal times, an experienced crew member guided Ning Shuangshuang with advice on the nuances of filming life, pointing out actors whose performances were highly praised by the director, suggesting Ning Shuangshuang carefully observe and learn from them.
After spending ten consecutive days in the crew without getting to film, Ning Shuangshuang diligently displayed an eagerness to study acting while unexpectedly gaining favor with the crew and support staff.
It was nearly half a month later before it was Ning Shuangshuang’s turn to perform. Zheng Mingjing called her over to specially instruct her on the essentials of acting and even had Ning Shuangshuang perform for him!
As previously mentioned, Ning Shuangshuang had extraordinary talent in acting, making it seem like she was born for the field. With no reservations, she showcased her best performance, instantly catching Zheng Mingjing’s eye!
Even so, Zheng Mingjing didn’t consider Ning Shuangshuang to be a genius actor just yet. He thought she was performing excellently because she was playing a role close to her true self.
Zheng Mingjing had seen many newcomers with good skills, yet lacking camera presence. They would perform well without the camera but become nervous, dropping in skill when facing it. Some didn’t understand camera angles and couldn’t position themselves correctly, while others might unnoticeably step out of the shot.
The male lead acting opposite Ning Shuangshuang was a popular star Feng Zhipeng. As the lead in Zheng Mingjing’s film, he was naturally more than just a pretty face; though an idol, Feng Zhipeng was also considered a skilled actor.
The scene involved Feng Zhipeng’s character, wearing a hoodie, sunglasses, and a mask, strolling by the river, when Ning Shuangshuang’s character, a fan, unexpectedly encountered her idol while playing by the river.
Ning Shuangshuang’s character displayed excitement and joy in her eyes, yet suppressed her impulse, avoiding shouting or making any fanatical gestures, instead calmly approached to speak with her idol. She effectively portrayed a fan who was both passionate and rational upon meeting her idol.
The scene contained around a dozen lines and amounted to only a minute of screen time, with the toughest part centered here, since it’s challenging for an inexperienced actor to express both impulse and calmness simultaneously.
So, despite Ning Shuangshuang’s good performance during rehearsals, Zheng Mingjing prepared for several NGs once shooting started.
Once filming commenced, Ning Shuangshuang’s performance shocked not only Zheng Mingjing but also Feng Zhipeng, who acted alongside her.
Everything Ning Shuangshuang did, every move and word, seemed entirely natural, like she was truly embodying the role. Even Feng Zhipeng felt like he genuinely encountered a fervent yet rational fan!
