Chapter 188: Simple and true

Chapter 188 – Daphne POV

Estela moans into my mouth—high, wrecked, beautiful—and then her body shudders violently beneath me.

Her legs spasm, hips jerk, and she falls back onto the bed—boneless, trembling.

I ease the pink toy from her slowly—careful, gentle—and set it aside.

She’s soaked. Breathless. Tears streak the corners of her eyes.

I kiss her temple softly, brushing damp hair from her flushed skin.

"You were incredible," I murmur, knuckles trailing along her cheek. No response. She’s gone—absolutely wrung out, chest heaving with each shaky inhale.

I may have gone a little overboard... but what can I do when she cries so prettily? When she gasps my name in that breathless, broken voice? When her fingers clutch the sheets so desperately, body arching and trembling beneath me?

She’s irresistible.

Utterly, sinfully irresistible.

I press another kiss to her temple. Her skin is so warm—flushed and damp with sweat. She barely stirs now, spent, too wrecked even to complain.

I slip out of bed carefully. First things first.

The bedding is ruined—utterly unsalvageable. I toss the outer sheets into the corner of the room.

Then I kneel to gather the toys. The pinkdevil as she calls it... the egg... the little rose... they glisten obscenely under the dim lights. I pack them away neatly—no evidence left behind.

Next—the bath.

I run warm water, adding her favorite oils. Jasmine. Vanilla. Steam curls up into the air, soft and fragrant.

Perfect.

She’s still sprawled on the bed when I return. Limply tangled in the pillows, barely conscious.

I scoop her into my arms—she makes a soft sound but doesn’t resist. Just curls against me, trusting, pliant.

I lower us both into the bath. Warm water envelops us.

She sighs, deep and shaky, and melts against my chest. I hold her close, stroking her back.

Even when my hands wander—lingering a little too long on her chest—she only gives a faint whimper, too exhausted to scold me.

I grin to myself. Couldn’t resist really.

When the water cools, I lift her out. Dry her gently. Kiss every inch of skin. Tuck her under fresh sheets.

She’s asleep the moment her head touches the pillow.

I love her so much.

She lets out a little breathy sigh, nose wrinkling as she shifts—turning onto her side, half-buried in the covers.

I slide in beside her, wrapping an arm around her waist.

She’s so soft. So warm. So perfect.

I nuzzle the back of her neck, breathing her in. I could stay like this forever.

What do you do when your wife is mad at you?

I don’t know. I’m figuring it out.

At present? I’m massaging her feet. Gently. Thoroughly.

She’s on her phone. Not speaking to me. Brows furrowed, scrolling. I glance up—no reaction.

I sigh. Look back out the jet window.

We’ve been flying a couple of hours now. Emergency flight—one of her sisters had a small accident. Minor. But Estela panicked. We left fast.

No slow morning. No lazy desert cuddles. Not even a kiss good morning.

Just: "Get dressed, we’re leaving."

And here we are.

Apparently, I’m in trouble.

Why? Because someone (okay, me) made her too sore to walk straight this morning.

I did leave a massive tip at the hotel. For... the crimes committed upon those poor innocent sheets.

I don’t know why she’s so mad. She was very willing last night.

I work my thumbs into the arch of her foot—gentle, careful. She still won’t look at me.

Tough crowd.

"You know," I murmur after a moment, "I could call for champagne."

No reaction.

I lean in a little closer, voice low, teasing.

"Or... I could call for strawberries and cream?"

Her brows twitch—just slightly—but she keeps scrolling.

Progress.

I glance up at her from under my lashes.

"...You were the one begging me not to stop at some point, if I recall."

She freezes. Her glare slides down to meet mine.

Me and my big mouth.

I shut up. Like a wise person.

Very wise.

Estela POV

Daphne is silent now. Very smart.

She moves on to my other leg, working her thumbs gently, careful with the tender spots.

I’m still... fragile. Every little shift of muscle sends faint shivers through me—reminders. Flashbacks of last night. Of her wicked hands and wicked mouth and all the things she did to me.

I don’t even know how I survived.

I shift slightly to get more comfortable—trying to ignore how sensitive I still am.

Big mistake.

Her fingers press just a little deeper—innocent enough—but my hips jerk automatically.A spark zips right through me, uninvited.

And my reflex?

My foot kicks her square in the chest.

Not hard. But definitely on purpose.

She huffs, rubbing her ribs with an exaggerated pout.

"Oof. What was that for?"

I don’t respond.

Just lean back in the seat, arms crossed, still scrolling through my phone. Ignoring her.

She knows exactly why.

Silence settles between us again, broken only by the soft hum of the jet engines.

A few more minutes pass.

I glance down—and there she is.

Dee’s head has tilted slightly to the side. Her lashes casting faint shadows on her cheeks. One hand still loosely wrapped around my ankle, like she doesn’t want to let go even in sleep.

She’s dozed off—peaceful, for once.

I watch her quietly, warmth filling my chest.

She’s so handsome. So beautiful. Even now, asleep, hair mussed, face relaxed... I feel it all over again.

I love her.

It’s simple. It’s true.

I can’t help the small smile that tugs at my lips. It’s impossible not to, seeing her like this.

I set my phone aside, careful not to wake her.

Shift in my seat, sliding just a little closer to where she sits, her hand still resting lightly around my ankle.

She’s so beautiful. So annoyingly lovable.

The steady hum of the jet fills the cabin, soft and low. Her breathing is gentle, slow, warm against my skin.

I close my eyes, letting that sound—and the quiet comfort of her presence—lull me under.

Just for a little while.
