Proud Goddess Falls in Love with Me -
Chapter 1382: 1341: Going Alone
Chapter 1382: Chapter 1341: Going Alone
If Miyamoto Yuta had always only been captured in one vague, fragmented photograph, this time, the paper effigy’s physical body was undeniably dragged into Lingying River before everyone’s eyes, never to resurface again!
Upon witnessing this scene, those who had previously held doubts about the matter couldn’t help but gasp sharply.
“It’s actually… true?”
They could disregard the rumors, dismiss a photograph, but they had no choice but to trust their own eyes and the unfolding reality!
“Mr. Lu Chuan, in Lingying River…”
Noticing the captain’s panicked expression, Lu Chuan exhaled deeply and said in a low voice, “No need to panic. Block off the Lingying River, and leave the rest to me.”
“Mr. Lu Chuan, please be extra careful!”
Lu Chuan nodded and walked straight toward Lingying River.
While controlling the paper effigy, Lu Chuan had clearly seen where that creature was hiding—down in a cavern at the riverbed. Though the cave was dim, Lu Chuan could still discern the water-swollen corpses within, one of which was the Miyamoto family’s young master, Miyamoto Yuta.
“Have everyone move away from this area. Don’t come near.”
“Understood. Move back, everyone!”
Retrieving the Haolock Spike from his dimensional space, Lu Chuan held it between his fingers as he stepped slowly into Lingying River. As the icy water engulfed his body, he gently closed his eyes, extending his perception ability outward.
Feeling the flow of the water, a shadow suddenly darted toward him from the bottom of the river. Lu Chuan’s eyes snapped open, and with a wave of his Haolock Spike, a dark spiritual flow surged forth, instantly binding the creature’s grotesque claw tightly!
“Trying to escape now? A bit too late for that, isn’t it?”
Lu Chuan let out a cold laugh as his spiritual power surged, manipulating the Spirit Demon to forcibly fling the mysterious figure onto the shore. In an instant, the previously ambushed members of the Lianggong Family Clan pounced and surrounded the figure completely!
“No discernible Realm, yet based on raw power alone, it rivaled a Transcendent Realm Martial Artist. Its strength certainly can’t be underestimated.”
Lu Chuan snorted coldly, reappearing on the shore in a flash. The Divine Fire of the Sun flared from within him, evaporating the water off his body in an instant, leaving his clothes dry once more.
“It’s just a pity your brain doesn’t work as well. You couldn’t even spot such an obvious trap.”
Fixing his sharp gaze on the man trapped by the encircling crowd, Lu Chuan narrowed his eyes slightly.
The man’s body had already begun to mutate. His skin became slick and glossy, secreting a strange mucus that coated his surface when exposed to the air.
His left arm had entirely lost any human characteristics, transforming into a grotesque, dark-green claw. Webbing stretched between his elongated fingers, and gills protruded from under his ribs, aiding his underwater breathing.
Looking at this creature, neither wholly man nor fully monster, Lu Chuan ignored the warnings of others and approached unhurriedly.
“Speak. What on earth are you?”
The man bared sharp, jagged teeth, attempting to intimidate Lu Chuan into retreating.
Unfortunately for him, he had overestimated his fearsome appearance. In one swift motion, Lu Chuan slammed his fist into the man’s face, shattering his rows of jagged teeth. His voice turned heavy as he warned, “I suggest you cooperate. Otherwise… See that group over there? They’ll make you wish you were never born.”
The squad dispatched by the Miyamoto Family, upon uncovering the truth about the so-called “Kappa,” began to let their terror be replaced by rage.
“You killed their young master. Those Miyamoto folks would skin you alive and tear you limb from limb to vent their wrath. If you want to survive, I’m your only chance. Tell me everything you know, and I’ll ensure your safety. Otherwise, you know how this ends.”
“The Sect Master… will spread terror to every corner of the world! When that day comes… no one will escape!”
The man curled his lips into a sinister smile, crimson blood dripping from the corners of his mouth, his visage even more ghastly.
“I will be the vanguard. You lowly humans will inevitably bow before the Sect Master!”
Before the echoes of his words faded, the man wasted no time driving his claw through his own chest, crushing his heart into pulp, extinguishing all signs of life!
Seeing this unfold, Lu Chuan let out a quiet sigh.
Though not surprised, he had nonetheless just lost his final lead.
For now, the only thing he could confirm was that the Yin Ghost Sect was indeed involved. They were trying to spread these altered beings throughout the Island Country to incite panic. However, whether or not this was tied to the Earth Amulet, Lu Chuan still couldn’t ascertain.
“He took his own life.”
“Mr. Lu Chuan, what about his body…?”
“Take it back. See if we can glean any clues from him. Also, pass a message to Suzumiya Setsuna: I’ll find a way to uncover the truth behind all this. For now, I won’t be returning to the Liang Palace.”
Hearing this, the squad captain opened his mouth, hesitating to speak, but ultimately kept his words to himself.
The strength Lu Chuan had displayed far exceeded his expectations. With just a single move, he had effortlessly subdued a criminal capable of sowing terror. Such power made their concerns unnecessary.
“Understood, Mr. Lu Chuan. I’ll deliver your message to Lady Suzumiya. Please take care and stay vigilant.”
Lu Chuan nodded in response, acknowledging the captain’s words.
“Oh, one more thing. Once you return, if my companion asks about my whereabouts, tell her I’m waiting at the volcano.”
…
Two hours later, at the Suzumiya family residence.
“My lady, the culprit has been dealt with. Mr. Lu Chuan went ahead, heading toward the vicinity of the volcano.”
“The volcano… That place once served as the former base of the Yin Ghost Sect. Grand Elder Huang Quan is sealed there. Did Lu Chuan say whether he needed the Suzumiya family’s assistance?”
“Mr. Lu Chuan only instructed us to relay this message to his companion. He didn’t request any further help. My lady, forgive my boldness, but I believe Mr. Lu Chuan’s actions are overly risky. The Yin Ghost Sect is tenacious, and now they’re resorting to methods like this, making them even more difficult to handle.
Furthermore, with us out in the open and our enemies lurking in the shadows, Mr. Lu Chuan is fighting alone. I fear he might not be able to hold his ground…”
Suzumiya Setsuna understood this all too well.
Yet the problem was that Lu Chuan already possessed Nascent Soul Cultivation. Across the Suzumiya family, there were only three other Nascent Soul Realm cultivators. And unless the family faced a crisis, these three rarely intervened. Convincing them to leave their seclusion and assist Lu Chuan was nearly impossible.
After all, while the Yin Ghost Sect’s actions had caused significant turmoil, they posed no direct threat to the Suzumiya family. For these cultivators, the plight of common people was insignificant. In their eyes, the only thing that mattered was the continuation of the Suzumiya bloodline.
However, without reaching the Nascent Soul Realm, no one could participate in battles of that magnitude, leaving even Suzumiya Setsuna at a loss.
“In any case… follow Lu Chuan’s instructions. Relay the message to his companion. I’ll try to persuade my grandfather to step out and help Lu Chuan resolve this issue.”
“Understood, my lady.”
