Chapter 69: Chapter 69 Glades Horne’s Worries (7)_1

"Welcome, Young Master Horne."

Sweet words, as if spun from sugar, spilled from their luscious red lips.

Glades Horne’s handsome face was slightly stiff and showed little expression as he aloofly and coolly passed by the two receptionists and headed inside. His bodyguards followed like shadows, underscoring his princely air.

Jonathan Allen and the others followed, smiling.

A group of several men, with him at their head, strode inside. Their entrance immediately drew the attention of everyone in the hotel, and all eyes turned to watch.

Glades Horne approached the elevator beside the staircase leading to the second floor. Behind him, Albert Rogers stepped forward to press the button. Jonathan Allen hurried to his side, explaining, "The Elegant Room is booked on the eighth floor, Room 808."

Glades Horne’s lips were pursed in silence. Once everyone was inside the elevator, Wade Coleman directly pressed the button for the eighth floor.

「Moments later, they arrived at the eighth floor.」

Jonathan Allen walked ahead. It had originally been Glades Horne who invited him to dinner, but now it seemed as if Jonathan Allen was the one inviting Glades Horne. He led Glades Horne into Room 808. The room was spacious, a high-end Elegant Room, extravagantly decorated. A round table stood before enormous floor-to-ceiling windows. Heavy curtains shielded the room from the sun’s glare, and a lush potted plant graced either side of the windows. Over a dozen chairs, each draped with a bright yellow cover, were arranged around the table. A luxurious crystal chandelier hung above the table, bathing the room in its warm yellow light. In this light, the chairs with their bright yellow covers resembled royal thrones, further elevating the luxurious atmosphere of the Elegant Room.

Glades Horne and Jonathan Allen sat at the table. Jonathan Allen’s companions and Glades Horne’s two bodyguards stood behind them.

Jonathan Allen had already ordered the dishes.

Five minutes after the two men sat down, hotel staff began serving the meal.

After all the dishes were served, two waiters stood nearby, awaiting instructions.

"Young Master Horne," Jonathan Allen asked somewhat anxiously, "I was wondering what you wanted to see me about today?" He was worried that his subordinates had once again gotten into trouble with this powerful young master.

"You seem worried?" Glades Horne’s deep, dark eyes flicked a sideways glance at Jonathan Allen, his tone indifferent, revealing nothing of his mood.

Jonathan Allen paused, then chuckled. "Young Master Horne, you have sharp eyes indeed to have noticed my unease. But yes, Young Master, I am a bit concerned. Has one of my men caused you trouble again?"

Last time, Dragon was severely reprimanded by him. They knew it was better to offend a nobody than to cross Glades Horne. The man’s network was terrifyingly extensive. In a vast metropolis like T City, he could blot out the sky with one hand—his power was truly immeasurable.

"Don’t worry," Glades Horne said, his well-defined brows arching slightly, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "This time, I’m the one who needs your help."

He merely wanted Jonathan Allen to help him find Julia Bluen.

Actually, he had a better network to locate Ruby Bluen. However, he sought out Jonathan Allen mainly because Jonathan’s pace was neither fast nor slow—just right for his needs. Finding Ruby too quickly could make Julia even less focused on their wedding, now just two days away. Finding her too slowly, on the other hand, might lead Julia to doubt his capabilities. Jonathan Allen’s moderate pace would strike the perfect balance. By the time news of Ruby arrived after the wedding, he and Julia would be united. He then wouldn’t have to worry about Ruby’s return affecting the ceremony.

He, too, had his concerns.

Having recognized his feelings clearly, he would certainly not waver. But Julia had always been unaware that he truly loved her. If Ruby returned too soon, Julia would definitely refuse to marry him. She would opt instead to push him and Ruby together, as she had always considered him her brother-in-law.

He would not allow that to happen.

"You’re too kind, Young Master Horne. If there’s anything this old brother can do to help, just give the word. There’s no need for terms like ’request’; it makes us sound like strangers," Jonathan Allen laughed heartily, his earlier anxiety visibly easing.

"However, this matter must be kept absolutely confidential. No outsiders should know about it," Glades Horne said, his tone shifting to emphasize secrecy.

The wedding hadn’t happened yet, and he didn’t want the public finding out about the Bluen sisters’ bridal swap too soon.

Jonathan Allen’s expression immediately turned serious. He gave his assurance, "If you say no outsiders should know, Young Master Horne, then I guarantee no one will." With that, he turned to his men. "You all step out for a moment."

They nodded and silently left the room. He then signaled for the two waiters to exit the Elegant Room as well.

Once the others had left the Elegant Room, Glades Horne retrieved a photograph from an inner pocket of his suit jacket. It was an old photograph of him and Ruby Bluen, one he had kept in his office desk drawer. He now had it with him. He placed the photograph before Jonathan Allen. Fixing his gaze on the man, Glades Horne said in a deep voice, "This woman is the eldest Miss Bluen. She left T City a week ago. Can you find out where she is?"

Jonathan Allen picked up the photograph and studied it. Then, looking up at Glades Horne in surprise, he asked, bewildered, "Young Master Horne, isn’t this your fiancée? Your wedding is in two days! The whole city is anticipating it. How could she..." He trailed off.

Glades Horne retrieved the photograph. His gaze remained fixed on Ruby Bluen’s image for a full minute before he said quietly, "You don’t need to ask anything else. Just find out where she is. Once you find her, don’t alert her. Simply take a few pictures showing she’s doing well and send them to me."

He only wanted to reassure Julia; he had no intention of bringing Ruby Bluen back.

After all, he and Ruby Bluen had been in love for years, and Julia had always seen him as her brother-in-law. Bringing Ruby Bluen back now would undoubtedly jeopardize the precarious progress he had made in getting Julia to lower her defenses.

"Understood," Jonathan Allen replied cautiously, asking no further questions.

Everyone had been speculating about what might have gone wrong with the impending marriage alliance between the Horne and Bluen families, but no one had guessed the truth. Knowing it now, he felt the weight of a heavy burden. He knew that the slightest misstep, any leak of this information, would not only invite Glades Horne’s wrath but also severely damage his own credibility on the streets.
