Chapter 66: Chapter 66 Glades Horne’s Worries (4)_1
With the soup underway, she began pondering what dishes to make next.
She liked sweet and sour flavors, so she decided to make a sweet and sour dish with the rest of the fish, from which the head had been removed. This way, the fish body wouldn’t be wasted. Seeing that there were ribs in the freezer, she chose to make sweet and sour ribs. Then she decided on shiitake mushroom stir-fried with tender chicken, celery stir-fried with pork belly, steamed eggplant, and a green vegetable dish, making for six dishes and one soup in total.
As she cooked, Glades Horne clumsily assisted her, creating a harmonious picture of husband and wife.
Watching her bustling figure, Glades’s gaze began to darken, deepening by the moment. Yet a faint smile of happiness played on his lips. Being with her, he could taste happiness, even in the most ordinary things, like eating simple home-cooked meals.
Around seven in the evening, Julia finished preparing the six home-style dishes.
"Alright, dinner is ready," she said as she untied the apron at her waist and turned her head to speak to Glades. In the midst of turning, she was startled to find Glades gazing deeply at her. She paused, asking, "What is it? Is there something on me?" She looked down at herself, but didn’t notice anything amiss.
"Julia," Glades called out in a husky voice, his eyes becoming more profound as he stared deeply at her.
"Stop looking, let’s eat, after all..." you have a lifetime to look.
Julia abruptly stopped herself, realizing that unconsciously, she had slowly become accustomed to the fact that Glades was her husband.
Glades pursed his lips and said nothing. He stepped forward, picked up two plates, and turned towards the dining room.
Julia watched his retreating figure, wondering why Glades had been staring at her so intensely.
Turning around, she too picked up two plates and left the kitchen.
Two minutes later, the long dining table was set with six dishes and one soup.
Julia served Glades a bowl of soup and placed it in front of him with a smile. "Try it and see if I can win over your stomach."
Glades picked up the soup spoon and carefully sipped a spoonful. He maintained a straight face, but his eyes were bright.
"How is it? Does it taste alright?" Julia asked, seeing his serious expression, a little concerned.
Glades didn’t respond, merely took another sip of the soup. After swallowing, he picked up his chopsticks and started eating the dishes. After trying each one, he put his chopsticks down. He picked up the bowl of fish head and tofu soup, brought it to his lips—unbothered by the scalding heat—and gulped it down. In a moment, he finished the entire bowl of soup, then served himself another bowl, placed it in front of him, and resumed eating with his chopsticks.
Julia was stunned for a minute. This guy clearly intends to eat all the dishes without a word! So, she too sat down, picked up her chopsticks, and began to eat unceremoniously.
Neither of them spoke, as they were too busy competing for the dishes.
Despite the air conditioning in the room, by the end of the meal, both felt warm.
After they had eaten their fill, Glades Horne, still not quite satisfied, commented, "Delicious! Julia, you must never reveal your cooking skills at home, otherwise those picky eaters in the family will never leave you alone. Only when we return to our own home can you show off your talent." Her culinary skills were quite remarkable. Even the most ordinary home-cooked dishes became incredibly tasty in her hands.
Glancing at him, Julia Bluen laughed. "Based on your reaction just now, I thought I might have lost my touch after not cooking for so long."
At her words, Glades Horne chuckled softly again.
Although he had been laughing more often in recent days, Julia was still momentarily mesmerized by his handsome smile.
When he didn’t smile, his expression was stern, a bit indifferent, and his sharp, inscrutable gaze made him seem unpredictable. Yet, he still managed to captivate many women. When he did smile, it was as refreshing as a spring breeze, coupled with a faint, barely perceptible indulgence, even more charming. If other women saw this gentle side of him, the ones willing to throw themselves at him would probably be too numerous to fend off.
After dinner, since it was still early, Glades Horne took Julia Bluen for a walk outside.
Their villa was close to the artificial lake, so the two joined the stream of people strolling by the water.
The man was handsome, and the woman was pretty. He was tall and powerful, while she was slender yet graceful—like models on a runway, shining in the spotlight and turning heads wherever they went. The two didn’t care about the stares of others, holding hands tightly, talking in hushed tones as they walked, natural and intimate.
Seeing Julia regain her usual spontaneity, the faint smile on Glades Horne’s lips deepened.
To help Julia move faster out of the shadow of their past relationship, he would have to try twice as hard.
「Blue Moon Pub.」
The Blue Moon Pub was the largest and most upscale pub in T City, frequented by individuals of a certain status, unlike other pubs that attracted all sorts of people.
While most who come to a pub seek indulgence to lessen the pressures of the day, they do not get as wild as the patrons in other establishments.
At the moment, the explosive DJ dance track came to an end, replaced by a classic old song. The melodious music began to play, and the people who had been dancing energetically began to slow down. Some simply returned to their seats, leaning back in their chairs with a glass of alcohol in hand, savoring the drink and the melodious music, finding in them one of life’s great pleasures. Unknowingly, they cast aside their worries and stresses, drifting into a relaxed and warm state of mind with the music.
In a corner, James Horne’s handsome face was somber as he drank broodingly.
That evening, he also hadn’t returned to the Horne family’s grand villa for dinner, nor had he gone to socialize or seek out friends for leisure. Instead, he drove aimlessly through the streets, passing by the Blue Moon Pub and, on impulse, walked in.
