Chapter 62: Chapter 62, All Immortals of the Chan Sect

Gu Liang looked up, tousling her hair and swinging her head from side to side in admiration as she asked, "Senior Brother, how did you know they would take action?"

"Even our Great Sect’s identity tokens dare they tamper with, and they think to deceive Master? What isn’t there they wouldn’t dare do? I wouldn’t be at all surprised by anything even more outrageous."

Gu Liang’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she said, "Senior Brother, you’re so impressive!"

Bai Jin said proudly, "Just average, rank three in the Jie Sect."

Shi Ji said anxiously, "Senior Brother, shouldn’t we stop them? What if we anger Master, then what?"

Bai Jin smiled without a word, muttering to himself, "The whole point is to let them anger Master. If they come to pay respect and ask for discipleship tomorrow, and Master, out of kindness, keeps them, then won’t all my schemes have been for naught? We must never underestimate Master’s compassionate heart for taking disciples."

The commotion soon came to an end. Out of more than six hundred disciples, some perished, some were severely beaten and expelled from the sect, and also, among the remaining multitude of Outer Door Disciples, an imposing and ruthless image of Bai Jin was planted in their hearts.

At high noon, Bai Jin sat in his palace, contemplating on grand plans for his fellow sect members.

An auspicious cloud floated over from Yuqing Peak, with a finely-dressed Daoist Disciple standing atop it.

The Daoist Disciple descended the cloud and knocked on the doors of Bai Jin’s palace, calling out, "Senior Brother, are you there?"

The door creaked open, and Bai Jin, who was sitting cross-legged on his bed, rose with a smile and asked, "Junior Brother, have you come to Upper Pure Peak for fun?"

Bai He the Child said with a grin, "No, the master at Yuqing Palace is discussing the Tao with several Senior Brothers. He has invited you to listen!"

Discussing Tao? Bai Jin walked swiftly outside, saying, "Then let’s hurry! We mustn’t keep Second Master waiting for too long."

Bai Jin quickly exited the palace and, lifting up on a White Cloud with Bai He the Child, headed towards Yuqing Peak.

Inside Shangqing Palace, Tongtian was sitting in the principal seat, with the Wudang Saint seated below.

Sect Master Tongtian suddenly looked up in the direction of Yuqing Peak.

The Wudang Saint inquired curiously, "Master, has something happened?"

Tongtian Sect Master replied irritably, "Your junior brother ran off to Yuqing Peak to eavesdrop on the discussion of Tao again."

The Wudang Saint said with a smile, "Junior Brother Bai Jin is respectful and well-ordered. Both Masters are quite fond of him. I must say I’m rather envious."

"Envious of what? He’s all tricks, and he’s made Duobao so mad he’s hiding in the back mountain, not wanting to come out."

The Wudang Saint couldn’t help but laugh, "Master, you should heal the big bump on Senior Brother’s head!"

Sect Master Tongtian said sternly, "If he can’t even confront that, then his future achievements will be limited."

The Wudang Saint nodded. Senior Brother had indeed been too arrogant before. If this could deepen his Heart Realm, it wasn’t a bad thing.

Sect Master Tongtian suddenly said, "Wudang, what do you think of this morning’s events?"

"I think Junior Brother handled it quite well!" said the Wudang Saint diplomatically. "Master, you indeed have been a bit too casual in accepting disciples."

Sect Master Tongtian said suspiciously, "I have this feeling that I’ve been played by that kid Bai Jin. Overnight, my Outer Disciples seem to have been reduced by a not-so-small number."

The Wudang Saint opened her mouth wide in shock, "Played you? Does Junior Brother really have the gall?"

"That kid Bai Jin, yeah, he’s quite bold!"

Atop Yuqing Peak, the cloud descended.

"Achoo~"

"Achoo~"

Bai Jin sneezed several times in a row and touched his nose.

Bai He, the Child, said with a smile, "Elder brother, there’s no need to be nervous. Our brothers of the Chan Sect get along very well."

"I hope so!" Bai Jin straightened his clothes, reached out to grab Bai He’s hand, patted it with his other hand, and then let go.

Bai He, the Child, looked at the palmful of shiny golden Merit Coins, his eyes brightened, and he exclaimed joyfully, "Is this Merit?"

Bai Jin chuckled, "This is just some Merit Money I casually crafted. It’s not anything precious. Have fun with it."

Bai He, the Child, gripped his hand tightly, gratefully saying, "Thank you, elder brother. You are really kind to me."

"Since you call me elder brother, it’s only natural I should take care of my junior."

Bai Jin and Bai He, the Child, walked into the Yuqing Palace. There, the Primordial Venerable was sitting in the main seat, with three rows of disciples seated below; the first row included a skinny old man. In the second row, there was a bald middle-aged man with a calm demeanor sitting to the far left, then a middle-aged man with a spirit of transcendence, radiating Vital Essence, a barefoot and slightly overweight middle-aged man with a smile, a white-bearded old man who looked amiable, a spirited middle-aged man with a sharp presence, and a middle-aged man with a Taiji adornment on his head.

The third row, from left to right, included a majestic middle-aged man with two horns on his head, a young man with a serene expression, a young man with fair skin and good looks, a short-statured young man, an elderly man appearing aloof from the world, and a young man with a solemn countenance.

In the fourth row, from left to right, there was an old man with a large head and a young man with a small head.

Bai Jin scanned the hall with a glance, then stepped forward and knelt on an empty cushion in the second row, bowing solemnly, "Disciple Bai Jin, pays respect to the Master!"

The Primordial Venerable showed a smile and said, "Bai Jin, this person here is Randeng Daoist, once a distinguished guest of the Zixiao Palace. You should address him as your grand-master uncle (substitute for ’Second Master’ - 二师伯)."

Bai Jin bowed respectfully and said, "Greetings to grand-master uncle!"

Randeng turned around with a smile and said, "Nephew, there’s no need for such formalities."

The Primordial Venerable said, "This is Bai Jin, elder brother from the Jie Sect Outer Disciples, holding a status equivalent to that of a direct disciple. He must not be disrespected."

The bald middle-aged man on the left in the second row stood up, paid a respectful salute, and said, "Chan Sect’s Guang Chengzi greets elder brother!"

Bai Jin stood up and returned the salute, saying, "Greetings to Guang Chengzi, junior brother!"

After Guang Chengzi sat down, the graceful middle-aged man next to him stood up, turned around, and paid a salute to Bai Jin, saying, "Chan Sect’s Chi Jingzi greets elder brother!"

Bai Jin saluted back and said, "Greetings to Chi Jingzi, junior brother!"

Chi Jingzi sat down, and the barefoot, slightly fat middle-aged man stood up laughing, "Chan Sect’s Qingxu greets elder brother!"

The white-bearded old man stood up and saluted, "Chan Sect’s Taiyi greets elder brother."

The spirited middle-aged man stood up and made a salute, "Chan Sect’s Yu Ding greets elder brother!"

The middle-aged man wearing the Taiji adornment stood up, saluted, and said, "Chan Sect’s Spiritual Treasure Great Master greets elder brother!"

In the third row, the formidable young man with two horns on his head stood up and saluted, saying, "Chan Sect’s Huang Long greets elder brother!"

The serene young man stood up smiling, "Chan Sect’s Puxian greets elder brother!"

The handsome young man stood up and gently saluted, "Chan Sect’s Ci Hang greets elder brother!"

The short-statured young man stood up and saluted, saying, "Chan Sect’s Ju Liusun greets elder brother!"

The detached old man stood up, saluted, and said, "Chan Sect’s Dao Heng greets elder brother!"

The solemn young man saluted and said, "Chan Sect’s Wenshu greets elder brother!"

In the fourth row, the large-headed elder stood up, paid his respects with a chuckle, "Chan Sect Outer Disciple, Immortal Elder of the Southern Pole, greets elder brother!"

Finally, the last laid-back young man stood up, saluted, and said, "Chan Sect Outer Disciple Yun Zhongzi greets elder brother!"

Bai Jin returned each salute in turn, feeling a mix of emotions in his heart; these junior brothers might all become enemies in the future.
