Chapter 56: Chapter 56, Bai Jin’s Conjecture (This May Be a Controversial Chapter)
On the other side, Bai Jin’s figure instantly appeared within his palace, letting out a helpless sigh, "Fine, you’re all big shots, all like to hide and be secretive, none of you tell me, then I will just have to guess on my own."
Immediately, he floated and sat cross-legged on the bed, combining stories and legends from his previous life to review the matter. What Eldest Uncle said about Nuwa doing things related to the Human Clan, Demon Clan, and Witch Clan, brought to mind three forces: the Human Clan Tribe clad in animal skins, the big man of the Witch Clan bare-chested, and the Demon Clan with the heads of beasts and bodies of men, with Nuwa herself above the other three.
In tales of the previous life, during the Witch Demon War, the Human Clan became the main characters of Heaven and Earth. But wait—Bai Jin suddenly questioned in his mind, why could the Human Clan assume the role of the main characters of Heaven and Earth?
Past tales offer no explanation as to why the Human Clan suddenly became the main characters of Heaven and Earth, only attributing it to a destined main character concept. For Nuwa to attain sainthood, she must create humanity; the Human Clan must become the main characters of Heaven and Earth, and even the entire Primordial World must revolve around the Human Clan. What an absurd idea.
Reborn in the Primordial World, Bai Jin participated in Nuwa’s creation of humanity and naturally understood that the Human Clan was a process of Nuwa’s proof of the Tao, and not that Nuwa must create humanity to attain sainthood. She could create other forms of life without creating humans and still attain the Tao.
Thus, there is no such thing as a destined main character in the Primordial World. The survival of the Human Clan in the Primordial World is extremely difficult; they have achieved what they have now entirely through their own struggles.
But what will follow is the Witch Demon massacre of the Human Clan. After the massacre, the dwindling Human Clan is extremely fortunate not to be annihilated. How could they become the main characters of Heaven and Earth? And why could they become the main characters of Heaven and Earth?
Among the Primordial Ten Thousand Clans, not to mention broad categories like the Dragon Clan, Water Clan, Ghost Clan, and the Bird Clan, even a minor branch race such as the Fox Clan could wipe out the entire Human Clan. Yet these Primordial Clans have no opportunity to vie for the role of Heaven and Earth’s main characters. After the Witch Demon War, the dwindling Human Clan suddenly became the main characters of Heaven and Earth. How sudden? And how unfair? Who is behind all this?
A name unconsciously surfaced in Bai Jin’s mind: Nuwa! Yes, it must be her.
With the Witch Demon War imminent, how dare the Witch Demons slaughter the Human Clan and offend a Saint? It should be their time to strive for the support of Saints, unless they had the permission of Nuwa.
Bai Jin’s eyes suddenly opened, filled with shock. Nuwa was plotting against both the Witch and Demon Clans.
Nuwa is now deliberately distancing herself from the Human Clan to lay the groundwork for her actions to come. She wants to convince both the Witch and Demon Clans that she no longer cares about the Human Clan.
Yet even after realizing all this, Bai Jin still felt choked, completely unable to fathom by what means Nuwa propelled the Human Clan to the position of the main characters of Heaven and Earth, and this matter couldn’t be inquired into. This truth he deduced from myths and legends of a past life, and it could not be explained to others.
Bai Jin sat up on the bed and exhaled deeply. Saints are indeed terrifying. If not for combining tales of the Primordial Myth, even if he were to rack his brains, he wouldn’t have figured out the truth. The two destined main characters, Witch Demon and Human Clans, were arranged by Nuwa so tightly in the cosmic order, setting the trend for Heaven and Earth. He made up his mind to firmly cling to Nuwa’s coattails; otherwise, if a Saint calculated against him, he would not even know how he died.
...
Dang~
Dang~
Dang~
Three sounds of the bell echoed around Upper Pure Peak.
Startled out of his shock, Bai Jin quickly rose from the bed. Was that Master’s Summoning Immortal Bell? Without delay, he headed outside.
Numerous Jie Sect Outer Disciples were all riding various colored clouds towards Shangqing Palace. There were pristine Immortal Clouds, grey Ghost Clouds, red auspicious clouds, and black Demon Clouds; it was a myriad and a complete assortment of colors.
Bai Jin mounted a White Cloud and made for the mountaintop.
All the Jie Sect Outer Disciples respectfully cleared a path, calling out, "Brother!"
"Brother!"
"Greetings, Brother!"
...
After a thorough reprimand from Bai Jin, everyone was now behaving themselves.
Bai Jin nodded with a smile, and amidst the crowd’s exultation, he flew towards the Shangqing Palace, with all the Jie Sect Outer Disciples slowing down their clouds, allowing Bai Jin to be the first to enter the Shangqing Palace.
Inside the Shangqing Palace, there were many meditation cushions densely arranged. On the first row, three cushions were occupied by Duobao, Wudang Saint, and Jin Ling.
The second row had only one cushion, followed by a row of nine.
Bai Jin walked to the second row’s single cushion with a smile and sat down cross-legged.
It was then the other Outer Disciples swarmed in, each finding a cushion to sit down without any dispute.
Bai Jin sent a telepathic message, "Senior Sister, what’s the situation now?"
Wudang Saint replied through telepathy, "Master is about to give a lecture on the Tao."
A lecture on the Tao? Bai Jin suddenly remembered that Second Master owed him a lecture, and Nuwa also owed one—they both had to find time for it. A feeling of reflection rose within him, so busy, truly so busy.
Tongtian appeared silently at the main seat.
All Jie Sect Disciples seated below bowed in greeting and exclaimed, "Greetings, Master!"
Tongtian slowly nodded and said, "Since you have all become disciples, I have been preoccupied with pursuing the Tao and rarely taught you any dharma. Today, I will lecture and impart dharma here. What you can gain from it all depends on destiny."
All Jie Sect Disciples bowed joyously and said, "Thank you, Master!"
Tongtian nodded, then solemnly said, "To cultivate, one must first cultivate the mind. Without reaching the Heart Realm, all spells are illusory. Today, I will discuss with you the dharma gate of cultivating the mind."
Many disciples showed disappointment; it was just about cultivating the mind, not powerful Divine Skills. Cultivating the mind does not produce external power, what use could it be?!
Tongtian observed all the disciples, and when he saw Duobao, Wudang Saint, Jin Ling, Bai Jin, Shi Ji, and others listening solemnly, he showed a faint smile. Closing his eyes to the assembly below, he acknowledged inwardly that, as he had said, the attainment lay with each individual.
He started the lecture: "To pursue the Tao, one must first let go of externalities. Sever all ties with the outside, do not let it conflict with the heart. Then sit in tranquility and watch the inclinations of the mind. When a thought arises, strive to extinguish it, and bring about stillness. ..."
The entire lecture process had no Divine Light, no Miracles; it was merely a simple, even somewhat monotonous recital, and some disciples were dozing off as they listened.
Time was inconsequential during the lecture; as the days passed by unknown, the lecture came to a sudden end, awakening all the disciples in an instant. Some exhibited joy and were spiritually fulfilled, while some rubbed the drool from their mouths in a daze.
All disciples bowed deeply and said in unison, "Our gratitude to Master!"
Tongtian nodded, smiled, and said, "You may all depart!"
The disciples stood up, bowed respectfully again, and then made their way to the outside.
After leaving the palace, many disciples showed disappointment; this was nothing like the dharma transmission they had imagined. There were no spells or Divine Skills, but rather a discussion on a method of dharma for inner tranquility. How could this be useful? In the travels across the Primordial World, enemies would not care if your mind was still or not.
"Bai Jin!" a voice called out from within the Shangqing Palace.
Bai Jin stopped in his tracks, turned around, and bowed, saying, "Master~"
The other disciples also turned around, curiously looking towards the inside of the Shangqing Palace.
