Chapter 52, Return to Kunlun

Chapter 52: Chapter 52, Return to Kunlun

Within the Nuwa Palace of the Chaos Nuwa Emperor Heaven, Nuwa Niangniang sat cross-legged on the Cloud Bed, with Qingluan and Cai Feng standing by her side, Qingluan half-closed its eyes, appearing drowsy and sleepy.

Suddenly, a voice echoed within the palace: "Disciple Bai Jin, seeks audience with Uncle Master."

Qingluan, startled, quickly straightened its body.

Upon the Cloud Bed, Nuwa Niangniang revealed a slight smile. With a casual wave, space rippled like water, creating a mirror surface, within which was Buzhou Mountain; there, Bai Jin was respectfully bowing.

Qingluan, curious, asked: "Niangniang, who is this Bai Jin? What’s his connection to our Nuwa Palace?"

Nuwa chuckled lightly and replied: "He is Uncle Tongtian’s Outer Disciple Leader. When I achieved the Saint Dao, it was partly thanks to his inadvertent guidance. When you see him, you must also call him senior brother."

Qingluan and Cai Feng couldn’t help but widen their eyes in surprise. Niangniang’s attainment of the Dao actually had something to do with this senior brother Bai Jin? This bond of cause and effect is immense!

Cai Feng spoke from the side: "I’ve met senior brother Bai Jin before. It was I who received him and Old Master Fu Xi when they came to Nuwa Palace to listen to the Dao. Does Niangniang intend to receive him now?"

Nuwa Niangniang shook her head and said: "I know the purpose of his visit, but the time is not right yet. There’s no need to bring him up here."

On Buzhou Mountain, in front of the palace, Bai Jin bowed deeply with respect, standing on the spot, feeling a wave of awkwardness. What to do? Niangniang didn’t hear me! How can I explain this?

Behind him, Kui Niu and Big Horned Bull stared with widened eyes.

In a low voice, Big Horned Bull asked: "Senior brother, what are you doing? You seem to have zoned out."

Kui Niu warned in a whisper: "Keep it down, you don’t understand, this is practicing the profound Saint’s Dao."

Big Horned Bull exclaimed in surprise: "Saint’s Dao?"

Kui Niu nodded its head in admiration: "You don’t understand, senior brother knows many profound arts of the Saint’s Dao. Right now, he’s using the Saint’s Dao to communicate with Nuwa Niangniang."

Big Horned Bull suddenly grasped it: Ah, so that’s it. Senior brother truly is exceptional, far beyond our imagination.

A moment later, Bai Jin slowly straightened up, shaking his head regretfully.

Kui Niu quickly inquired: "Senior brother, when will Nuwa Niangniang come to receive us?"

With a tinge of regret, Bai Jin said: "Nuwa Niangniang is in seclusion, consolidating the Saint Dao, and cannot spare the time to see us. However, she mentioned that once her seclusion ends, she’ll come to fetch me."

Kui Niu looked at Big Horned Bull with a smug expression, as if to say, see, I was right.

Big Horned Bull nodded repeatedly, admiring how mighty their senior brother was.

"Let’s go!"

Bai Jin led the two bulls. As they left the valley, Bai Jin looked back at the palace, filled with doubt. Surely Nuwa Niangniang could not have been oblivious to my purpose, nor could she have failed to hear my request for an audience. Why then did she not wish to see me? Could it truly be as some legends from past lives suggest that after achieving sainthood, Nuwa Niangniang became indifferent to the Human Clan? No, Nuwa Niangniang couldn’t be such a heartless Saint, otherwise, she wouldn’t have dispatched me and Fu Xi to protect the Human Clan for years.

At that moment, Bai Jin only felt a splitting headache, his mind muddled, completely clueless about Nuwa Niangniang’s thoughts.

Kui Niu, puzzled, asked: "Senior brother, what are you looking at?"

Bai Jin’s gaze shifted to the side and he said leisurely: "Do you see? There’s a gazebo there."

Bai Jin wanted to introduce them to the gazebo personally crafted by Nuwa Niangniang.

Kui Niu and Green Bull both turned to look.

Kui Niu blurted out: "So ugly~"

Green Bull echoed: "Indeed, quite ugly!"

Bai Jin’s eyes suddenly widened, "I’m going~ How dare you tell the truth?!" He hurriedly jumped to the side.

Boom~ A thunderclap sounded out of the blue.

Two bolts of lightning descended from the sky, striking the two bulls, sending a flurry of electric arcs crackling all about.

"Ow~"

"Moo~"

Two agonized bellowing of the bulls rose, as two figures fell to the ground amidst the thunderbolts.

When the lightning cleared, two black bull bodies convulsed on the ground, emitting white smoke and a tempting aroma, cooked to medium-rare, ready to eat with just a sprinkle of salt.

Bai Jin bowed deeply and quickly said: "Nuwa, forgive us, these two bulls have no appreciation for aesthetics, they even chew on peony flowers, how can they understand the masterpieces you created?!

Such a rustic, majestic, and high-class work, only a person of great virtue, great power, and great wisdom could comprehend its profound meaning."

Bai Jin glanced up sneakily and saw that the pavilion by the cliff had disappeared without a trace, heaving a sigh of relief. Looking down at the two blackened bulls on the ground, he felt speechless at these two incorrigibly outspoken creatures.

With a gesture, he conjured a rope of immortal power around the two bulls, and hastily dragged them, bounding through the clouds, with the flying bulls in tow.

Inside the Nuwa Palace, Nuwa gracefully waved her hand, and a pavilion made of plants and trees appeared in the main hall, she then said: "Qingluan, take it and burn it."

Qingluan immediately responded, "Yes!" Seeing that Nuwa was in a bad mood, she dared not ask nor say more!

...

Bai Jin, hauling the bulls, hastened back to Kunlun Mountain. It took a full three years to return from Buzhou Mountain back to Kunlun. Along the way, Green Bull and Kui Niu had fully recovered, able to ride the clouds, but their hair still stood on end, like two gigantic hedgehogs.

As soon as he reached Kunlun Mountain, Kui Niu couldn’t contain himself and let out a loud bellow: "Moo~ Master, I’ve finally come back."

At once, Kui Niu broke free from the reins in Bai Jin’s hand and ran toward Upper Pure Peak like a wronged child of thousands of years, his tears glistening in the air.

The obedient Big Horned Bull quietly followed behind Bai Jin, now even less inclined to run amok.

With Kui Niu’s roar, the whole of Kunlun Mountain was alerted as Jie Sect Disciples rose into the air, looking at Bai Jin arriving on the clouds.

Shi Ji approached and with a bow and a smile, said: "We welcome senior brother’s return!"

The other disciples also bowed and said loudly: "We welcome senior brother’s return!"

Bai Jin returned the bow with a beaming smile: "I greet all my junior brothers and sisters."

"Bai Jin!" Duobao Taoist slowly descended from the mountaintop, his gaze fixed on Bai Jin.

Bai Jin bowed with a beaming smile, "Big senior brother, long time no see."

Duobao gave Bai Jin the once-over, his heart lightened, seeing that Bai Jin’s cultivation hadn’t changed, meaning there was no added merit. Therefore, their Master and Uncle Tongtian’s attainment of the Tao had nothing to do with him! He instantly felt relieved.

Duobao looked at the Green Bull behind Bai Jin, displeased, he said: "Bai Jin, why have you brought back a strange and bizarre fierce beast?"

Bai Jin, puzzled, asked: "What fierce beast?"

"Isn’t it the one behind you?"

Big Horned Bull’s eyes widened even further—Me? A fierce beast?

Bai Jin turned around to take a look, with an odd expression, admitting it did quite resemble a fierce beast: pitch black all over, with sharp horns standing tall, and hair bristling; indeed it looked quite menacing, enough to stop a child’s crying.

Duobao frowned and said: "How can a fierce beast enter the Saint’s Dojo? Quickly put it to death."
