Chapter 129: Alchemy... The Terrifying Rapid Thought!

The next day quickly dawned.

After asking around for the location of the alchemy studies, Kranos obtained the information and quickly headed to the place. Entering, a wave of medicinal scent was the first thing that hit his nose. He scratched his nose slightly, then glanced ahead, where he saw a kind-looking young elf instructing a youth who held several herbs in his hand.

Coughing slightly, Kranos interrupted the two elves. The elder immediately turned his attention to Kranos. He frowned slightly upon seeing a human enter his alchemy lecture hall, but after some thought, he recalled who Kranos was.

"You are the young man with whom we had an agreement with the royal prince, are you not?" the elder elf asked, raising an eyebrow.

Kranos nodded at his words. The man’s expression changed slightly. "In that case, find somewhere to sit. In a moment, I will tell you what you will do first to embark on the path of alchemy."

Glancing at the few stone slabs around, Kranos found one to sit on and wait while the elf completed his teaching for the youth before him. The youth’s brows creased slightly as he stared at Kranos, and a flash of killing intent passed through his eyes as he looked at Kranos for a fleeting moment.

Kranos didn’t notice this, as his attention was on what the elder was describing to the young man: "With four veins on the leaf, you can make the medicinal strength more potent than when it has two veins or one. Also, with this kind of leaf, ensure you add a drop of hortic flower..."

Time passed as the two continued their lesson, with the youth asking questions at intervals. Fortunately, after roughly an hour, the lesson was finally done. The old man left the youth, then walked up to Kranos. He waved his green robes, and immediately a thick book appeared in his hand.

Kranos was slightly startled and stared at the book in a daze. The noise of the thick book banging against the table woke him from his thoughts. He stared at the book, then at the old man. Written atop the book were the words, ’Everything You Need to Know About Crafting Rank One Pills.’

"When you finish reading this book, you will begin learning how to physically craft Rank 1 pills," the elder advised earnestly, causing Kranos’s eyes to widen slightly. He had never read such a large book before, not even during his initial years in this world as a scholar!

Kranos stared at the book for a moment, then sighed before nodding towards the elder, complying with his words. With that, the elder walked away, leaving Kranos to study the large book. Kranos glanced at the time system out of the corner of his eyes.

[Time Points - 25,000]

"It seems you will have to decrease slightly," Kranos muttered in his heart, then activated Rapid Thought. In the past year, this was the amount of time points he had gathered. Although it pained his heart to use his time points in this process, he knew how important learning about medicinal pills was.

What if he fell into the same situation as the worm demon from back then? If he couldn’t perfectly recognize a medicinal pill, wouldn’t he be poisoned to death? Kranos treasured his life greatly; anything that would keep him safe, no matter the cost, he was willing to do it.

With Rapid Thought active, he opened the thick book and began reading. On the first page was the drawing of a plant that looked like a flower but had razor-sharp edges. Kranos read through the description: its uses, where to apply it while making a medicinal pill, where it could be found, and so on.

After he was done with the flower, which took a few seconds, Kranos went to the next page. Soon, aside from the occasional discussion between master and disciple, the sound of pages flapping one after the other resounded in the hall.

Soon, the two who were discussing noticed Kranos, and they stared at him in shock. They had never seen anyone study an alchemy book like this in all their years in the field of alchemy. The elder frowned seeing Kranos doing this; he felt that Kranos didn’t take his words seriously.

His disciple’s voice also entered his ears: "Master, isn’t it too disrespectful to allow him to continue disrespecting the field of alchemy like that?" The youth knew that his master hated it when one disrespected his chosen side profession.

As soon as Kranos had stepped into the courtyard, the disciple had disliked Kranos’s calm demeanor. Besides, he also recalled what "that person" had assigned him to do. The elder’s frown deepened as he stared at Kranos, who continued flapping through the book as if he didn’t have a care in the world.

He coldly snorted. The cold snort thundered in Kranos’s ears, causing him to look up at the man with a frown. By now, he had already gone almost halfway through the book, memorizing its contents. Seeing Kranos’s expression, the elder was furious.

"How dare you look at me like that after desecrating the alchemy profession? Are you here to mock me???" the elder’s beard flared up as he spoke.

Kranos quickly realized the problem. "So that was the case?" He understood that anyone would hardly believe he was actually mastering the contents of the pages with how fast he was skimming through it. With that, Kranos immediately thought of the best way to escape such trouble.

Before the elder or his disciple could say any more words, Kranos’s voice rang out: "Page three hundred and thirteen: Budding Lotus. Looks like a fiery lotus but is slightly cold. Can be used in making pills that heal burns. It can be found in the Backwater Mountain, where many of them grow."

"Moon Petal Grass. It looks like grass carved out of the moon. It has no temperature and constantly follows the temperature of the body or the environment. It can be used in making pills that are harmful and poisonous if the Moon Petal Grass root isn’t added to the concoction..."

As Kranos continued to mention numerous herbs, even ones that the elder had forgotten about, they stared at him in shock. The elder looked at Kranos as though he were a monster; he could hardly believe that Kranos had mastered all of this just now. He rushed towards the book and began opening the pages that Kranos had called out.

Immediately, he was shocked to see that all the herbs were listed correctly. His shock rose to a new level. After all, it took a great deal of talent and comprehension to reach such a level of knowledge in merely a few hours.

He stared at Kranos as though he were looking at a treasure. At this moment, his previous anger had dispersed and was replaced by joy. "Young man, you are truly talented in the art of alchemy!!!"

As someone who cherished alchemy, seeing such talent in alchemy made his blood boil in excitement!
