Chapter 796: Reporting to the Elders [Bonus]
[Supreme Immortal Sect – Grand Hall: Outer Region]
The location of the Supreme Immortal Sect, to this day, remains unknown to all except those who have been admitted to the sect as disciples.
Only disciples and elders are privileged to know the location of the sect. Of course, in a way that nobody can describe, even those who know the location tend to forget it whenever they are away from the sect.
But they will always be able to find their way back, regardless of how forgetful they are. Even so, unless they want you to come with them, you won’t be able to follow them. It is a bizarre place.
So, while those who even fail to pass the entrance can be likened to knowing the location, the moment they are out of the sect, all that memory of the sect’s actual location becomes scrambled.
However, that is to be expected, as the Supreme Immortal Sect is located in a world before the fall, where the laws are more visible and the limitations on the medium world are more lax.
Although the strongest being is still at the Core Formation stage, due to the relaxed nature of the limitations, their growth speed is high.
There are people there who are currently at the Core Formation stage, but they hold so much power that they can rival even Spirit Emperors in an average High world.
When the Battle of Parting occurred, the entire world was in turmoil, and many things were destroyed; however, not the sect, which had stood for millions of years.
It was the largest sect back when there was no limit on the world, and people could reach the peak of the Heavenly Ascension in this world before ascending to an immortal world.
Its heritage spans several years, and because of its rich history and resources, it manages to hold Sonox as the third strongest world in the Celestial Conclave planetary alliance.
This makes them one of the top three sects within fifty worlds.
Elder Lance came to the sect with dreams of making it big, and while he was the strongest in his world thanks to the sect, he was merely an outer elder of the Supreme Immortal Sect.
To get back from Sonox to the sect, one would have to cross the Humming Void, an ancient battlefield of two powerful cultivators.
It is a perilous place that requires careful navigation. So, while he and the two disciples left right after the tower closed, it took them a day and a half to return to the sect.
Upon getting back, Elder Lance ran to the hall to report his shocking discovery.
Inside a grand hall, five people, each powerful in their own right, were having a discussion.
“I heard this year that the number of disciples required for the interplanetary competition will be twenty, and five seeded candidates for us.
That will be five more than one hundred years ago. Is the alliance perhaps trying to add more bloody challenges to the competition?” Supreme Elder Jian said, causing the elders to nod.
“There will be more deaths than the last time, and knowing the history between us and the Primal Beast Sect, there will be fierce competition.
We better prepare our disciples well, and perhaps this time out, the loss will be minimal,” Elder Aster, a beautiful, dark-haired elf, said.
“At least we have the Pill Princess, the Ice Maiden, that one-eyed demon spawn, the Venom King, and that Arrogant Crystal Dragon Prince. With them leading, I am sure we will come out on top, even beating the Celestial Gate Sect.”
“You make it sound like the top-ranked sect for the past eighty thousand years are weaklings, like those useless beings in Sonox.
Unlike them, the Celestial Gate world is a powerful world filled with monsters. They are the leaders of the alliance, and they have many connections to High worlds and even Immortal worlds. They aren’t at all weak,” Elder Xior added, looking smug as if he were better than everyone there.
However, there is some truth to what he said.
Unlike the Supreme Immortal Sect, which has most of its disciples from other worlds, the Celestial Gate sect takes its disciples, or at least the majority of them, from the Celestial Gate world, so they are several times stronger than Sonox.
“Even so, we have some of the geniuses the sect has never seen in thousands of years joining the competition, and they will even be added as seeded candidates for the main competition.
We are not weak in any—”
BANG!
Suddenly, the door to the hall was swung open, and Elder Lance ran in like he was being chased.
“Who dares enter without permission?” Supreme Elder Jian released his aura, freezing Elder Lance in his tracks.
He turned pale immediately, not even having the strength to utter a word.
Thankfully, Supreme Elder Jian released him in the next couple of seconds, realizing he was the one he told to go conduct the Flame Tower Trial.
“Speak.”
Elder Lance shuddered but recovered quickly and started to speak.
“I carried out this year’s Flame Tower Trial in Sonox and will now be giving my report.”
“Tch, those useless beings still dare think they can make it here by learning a few flame arts. They will come and see if they can pass even the first exams we have prepared this year,” Elder Xior chuckled, his voice dripping with arrogance.
Perhaps after spending thousands of years in the sect, he had forgotten his lineage.
“Go ahead,” Elder Jian cast a glance at the flame demon and gestured for Elder Lance to continue… Elder Lance smirked inwardly, knowing this smug elder was about to get the shock of his life.
“Among the hundreds that entered, 60 qualified to take the entrance exams. Among them, 20 managed to learn Heaven grade flame arts, 10 managed to learn Legendary grade flame arts, and six managed to learn Mystical grade flame arts.”
“I count 36, Elder Lance. Are you perhaps losing your touch when it comes to counting?” Supreme Elder Jian asked, and Elder Lance smiled.
“No, Supreme Elder, I can count perfectly. You see, while Sonox was said to be a trash world, I beg to differ, for what I saw and experienced is far more than I expected from such a place.
Among the 57, 24 made it to level four, some even learning multiple Mythic grade flame arts—something the Pill Princess was able to learn just two. Some managed to learn four others, seven, and the highest learned eight Mythic grade flame arts.”
“WHAT?”
All the elders were taken aback, their faces displaying shocked expressions.
“That is not all. Out of the 24 that reached the fourth level, 12 advanced to the fifth level, with 11 managing to learn one Divine-grade flame art and the top ranker learning 12 Divine-grade arts.
If you don’t believe me, then see a captured recording of the display board, and you will see I am not lying.”
Elder Lance activated the video he had captured of the recording, and even at the end, he purposely included Kent in the recording to make a point.
“What is a human doing there? I thought they regressed after the Wynthralls ascended,” Elder Kenna, an orc-human, asked, looking at the handsome Kent who appeared in the video.
“I don’t think your intel is correct, Elder Kenna. The top ranker is this human. His name is Kent Madson, and he was the one who learned 12 Divine-grade flame arts.
And guess what, he learned all 12 in under an hour, completely mastering all forms of it.”
With a smug smile, Elder Lance ended his report, giving the elders time to ponder what they’d just heard and seen.
