Chapter 92: 500 Battle Tokens, The Forsaken Skill Scroll

Seraphine lowered her staff the moment she saw him.

She didn’t know who the human was or how he’d gotten here, but there was something in her that stopped her from attacking.

Even though she knew she had to fight, because clearly, the man in front of her was aggressive and battle-ready, she just couldn’t bring herself to move.

Her instincts, sharp and refined after years of training and battle, screamed that she was making the right decision.

And deep down, she understood why.

The first reason was simple: they didn’t stand a chance. Not a single one of them.

The aura radiating off that human wasn’t something they could compete with, not even if all the elves here fought together.

The second reason was more personal. She was fascinated.

The way he moved, how he fought despite being outnumbered, the unshakable confidence in his stance, it was mesmerizing.

He was like a storm that refused to die down.

Her emerald eyes sparkled as she watched him, each second building her anticipation more and more.

And then it happened.

"DIE!"

One of the elves, furious and impatient, broke formation and charged forward with his sword drawn.

His speed was impressive for someone his level, but Sam saw it coming.

His eyes flared with light, crimson like a burning star, and in one clean, fluid motion, he swung his sword.

The edge of the primordial blade cut through the air and pierced the elf’s throat in a brutal, merciless strike.

The elf collapsed. Dead.

A familiar sound followed.

Ding!

[+10 Battle Tokens]

---

[Sam Walker]

[Battles Fought: 32]

[Wins: 32]

[Battle Tokens: 500]

---

’So every kill counts as a battle,’ Sam thought, glancing at the panel that floated before his eyes. ’Doesn’t matter. Works out for me either way.’

He smirked.

With that one kill, his [Battle Tokens] had reached exactly 500, the amount he needed.

The rest of the elves around him tensed, visibly shaken.

Rage burned in their expressions, and their weapons were drawn, ready to launch themselves at him all at once.

But Sam just smiled. A slow, devilish grin as his crimson eyes glowed once again.

"I wouldn’t do that," he said, his tone calm but sharp enough to cut stone.

Every elf froze.

They didn’t know why. Their instincts screamed at them to act, but a louder, more primal fear held them in place.

A fear that whispered to them that if they made a move, they wouldn’t live to regret it.

Something inside them, something ancient, knew they were standing before a being unlike anything they’d faced before.

And Seraphine... her heart was pounding. Not out of fear, but something else. Excitement.

She realized it then, what she had been sensing since the moment she saw him.

’Primordial...’ The thought hit her like a thunderbolt, ’Is that what he is?’ she wondered, her eyes still fixed on Sam as he turned away.

The word [Primordial] wasn’t used lightly in her world, or any of seven worlds connected to the [Forsaken Realm].

It was a word that echoed in prophecies and stories, always connected to a single idea: the being who would appear and...

’No, I can’t recall it now, I have to focus!’

Some called the prophecy nonsense. Others worshipped it.

Seraphine had remained neutral, until now.

Seeing this man, seeing how the elves couldn’t move a muscle in front of him, seeing how he killed without effort and kept walking forward with that same grin... she wondered if the prophecy had just stepped into reality.

And then—

"Hey!"

Her voice rang out before she could stop herself.

Sam paused. He turned around, raising an eyebrow.

"What’s your name!?" Seraphine called out, her voice clear and strong.

For a moment, Sam stared at her. She wasn’t angry, wasn’t trembling, wasn’t even upset that he’d killed one of her kind.

No, she was curious. Interested.

He couldn’t help but chuckle.

"Sam Walker," he replied with a grin that stretched wide across his face, his tone almost playful, "See you later... if the [Universal Stage] ever happens."

Seraphine’s eyes lit up.

"...Goodbye," she said softly, smiling to herself.

As Sam turned back around and dashed off, his figure vanished in seconds.

None of the elves dared to follow. None of them said a word.

Seraphine didn’t care either. Her gaze lingered on the path he’d taken, and her mind was racing.

She finally looked down and opened the [Battle Archive].

’I still have a few minutes left in this realm,’ she thought. ’I want to see him fight again.’

She tapped the screen and entered his name.

[Please enter the name of the awakener you wish to view.]

"Sam Walker," she said out loud, smiling as she typed.

Immediately, a list of battles appeared. She tapped on the seventh one.

[Leon the Berserker VS Sam Walker]

The moment she saw that title, her eyes widened.

Everyone had heard of Leon. He wasn’t some random warrior, he was a brutal fighter who never lost once he entered his [Berserk Form].

And yet, Sam had returned from that fight alive. That alone told her everything she needed to know.

"Saintess, are you alright?" one of the elves asked, noticing her expression.

But she didn’t reply.

Her attention was fixed on the battle playing out before her eyes. She watched it all.

The start, the rising tension, Leon losing control and transforming into his [Berserk Form] to kill the clone... and then Sam flipping the battle in an instant.

The [Doom] status effect activated, freezing Leon in place. And in the next few seconds, Sam finished him.

When the battle ended, Seraphine’s hands were trembling.

Not from fear, but excitement. Her heart felt alive in a way it never had before.

She wanted to see more. She needed to see more.

...

Meanwhile, Sam was already back at the [Battle Castle].

Using his full speed, he blitzed through the castle, reaching the end in less than a minute.

And there it was, right where he’d seen it before, sitting alone on a pitch-black pedestal carved from obsidian.

The item he’d been after this whole time.

---

[Forsaken Skill Scroll]

[Rank: Forsaken]

[Description: Grants a skill of immense power, shaped directly by your class and path.]

[Cost: 500 Battle Tokens]

---

He didn’t even hesitate.

[Do you want to buy the "Forsaken Skill Scroll" for 500 Battle Tokens?]

"Yes," Sam said.

The moment the words left his lips, the scroll vanished from the pedestal and reappeared in his hands.

A deep, almost unnatural crimson glow pulsed from within the scroll.

It was filled with power, raw and pure. It felt... untouched, like it had been waiting just for him.

There were only two minutes left before the [Battle Realm] closed.

Enough time. Sam focused.

His aura surged, and all of his affinities responded, flowing into the scroll.

It reacted instantly, turning fully red, the glow now pulsing like a heartbeat. Then he tore it open.

Ding!

[You have used the "Forsaken Skill Scroll"]

The moment the scroll was consumed, Sam felt a pulse of power rush through his body.

The [Forsaken Skill Scroll] was no ordinary item.

It was considered the greatest reward in the entire [Battle Realm], and for good reason.

It didn’t just give a skill, it gave the perfect skill.

A skill molded to the user’s path, class, and progression.

Unlike other scrolls that sometimes granted unrelated or useless powers, this one never missed.

For example, Sam had gotten the [Art of Necromancy] book but couldn’t use it, making it useless to him.

But the scroll was flowless and tailored.

Sam knew this kind of opportunity would never come twice.

For most awakeners, [Forsaken]-rank skills were a myth.

For many, they’d never see one in their entire lives. But now, he was about to receive one made just for him.

And then—

Ding!

[Congratulations to Sam Walker for obtaining the skill: I Always Come Back]

Sam blinked.

A new grin spread across his face, even wider than before.

Whatever this new power was... he could already feel it weaving into his being, binding to his soul.
