Chapter 103: The Fourth Sub-Layer, Your Hell

Ding!

[You have entered the Fourth Layer of the Forsaken Realm: The Underworld (Hell Edition)]

Once again, Sam dove headfirst into the swirling portal of dark flames, and just like before, he landed in the Fourth Layer.

But this time... this time was different. He wasn’t just diving into it for progress or power.

This time, he was focused and determined.

He clenched both fists and stepped forward, wasting no time.

The air was surprisingly calm, far calmer than the last time he’d set foot here.

The Underworld felt... quiet.

The chaos from his first visit wasn’t there anymore. No roaring demons. No crashing flames. No screams.

Just the eerie silence of something waiting.

There were no enemies nearby, though the massive, sealed gate still stood in the distance like before.

Not that it mattered.

"I won’t need that," Sam muttered, his eyes narrowing. "I’m not here for the gate."

His focus was on something deeper: the sub-layer.

He didn’t know how powerful Asmodeus truly was, or whether he even had a shot at beating him.

But honestly? That wasn’t the point anymore.

Sam was here to fight. To punch through whatever was in his way. To tear apart anything that dared stand in front of him.

[He will understand why they call us the True Primordial =)]

"I still don’t know why they call me that," Sam sighed with a small smirk, shaking his head. "But whatever..."

He had his suspicions, of course.

When he met Asmodeus last time, the way the Forsaken Lord spoke, calm but cold, made it sound like he had fought and killed others like Sam before.

His kind. And not just once, but more than a few times.

And yet, despite how powerful Asmodeus was, capable of overwhelming nearly any known awakener except perhaps the rare peak [Ascendants], he still mentioned that there were beings far worse.

That the real threats hadn’t even arrived yet. That this was just the warm-up.

It told Sam something important: the enemies ahead were going to be monsters in every sense of the word.

At this rate, the [Fifth Layer]’s Lord could probably beat the strongest beings on Earth, and whoever ruled the Sixth? That guy might be able to burn the entire planet to ash without even trying.

Yet, they weren’t chasing the world. They were all coming for him.

Because Sam wasn’t just any awakener. He was the last living Primordial.

He walked to the edge of the cracked, rocky island he stood on and stared down into the churning sea of black flames.

There was nothing comforting about it, just fire, shadow, and the promise of pain.

As he gazed downward, a glowing panel appeared in front of him.

[Knowing that this entire realm is against you fills you with determination. Keep going.]

Sam didn’t say anything this time. He just nodded.

His aura sparked up around him, swirling with multiple affinities at once. Power humming beneath his skin.

[This may be the beginning, but we will grow stronger too.]

[Do not falter, Primordial.]

"I don’t plan to," he replied calmly.

He recalled what Asmodeus told him before, how he pointed his trident straight downward while speaking about what would happen "if you don’t come down there by then..."

That meant there was only one entrance to the sub-layer.

Sam had to jump. Straight into the sea of flames.

He stood there for a few seconds, letting his thoughts settle.

Letting the tension burn away in the firelight. His eyes glowed, flaring with that same unshakable crimson.

[He’s in our way. No mercy =)]

And then, he jumped. Headfirst. Straight into the dark inferno.

His expression didn’t change. No fear. Just motion.

-1! -1! -1!

The fire immediately tore into his [Eternal Barrier], damage notifications flashing across his vision.

Anyone else would’ve been annihilated in seconds. Sam wasn’t anyone else.

For ten long seconds, he dropped, feeling the pain, the pressure, the dragging pull of something far beneath the surface, and then—

Fwish! Ding!

[You have entered the Sub-Layer.]

He landed with a sharp breath, a smirk curling on his face.

"Bingo."

It was absolutely insane. A drop into literal hell to access a hidden realm. But it worked.

[Fourth Sub-Layer: "Your Hell."]

"Yeah... that sounds about right."

Sam was ready to go through a round of trials or zones just like he did with the first three sub-layers, but the moment he took a step forward..

Fwish! BOOM!

Pressure slammed into him.

Sam staggered, immediately stepping back. His senses screamed.

A dark trident nearly impaled him from above, missing him by inches as he dodged it.

"Looks like you came after all," a voice echoed.

It was familiar.

Sam didn’t answer. He looked around slowly, examining his surroundings.

He was standing on a colossal stone platform, an arena suspended in emptiness.

Above was a sea of flame. Below? Another ocean of darkness and fire. No walls. No structures. Just him... and the stage.

[If you fall, you die.]

"No shit," Sam muttered under his breath.

He scanned the platform again.

The trident had come from somewhere, but there was no enemy in sight. No presence he could lock onto.

’That was Asmodeus’ trident. I need to be ready—’

His thought got cut off when his instincts flared.

Not one, but three tridents suddenly came at him from different angles.

Sam twisted his body and ducked, dodging all three easily.

It was manageable, at least for now. But then...

He turned. And froze.

"Oh..." he muttered. "This might be unwinnable."

From beneath the platform, Asmodeus rose through the flames.

He looked... different. Stronger.

His form radiated with far more pressure than before.

The sheer heat warped the air. Sam instinctively shielded his face as the flames roared around the Forsaken Lord’s body.

Large, black wings extended from his back, keeping him suspended just outside the platform.

"Incredible," Asmodeus chuckled. "You really walked into this obvious trap. The same one that wiped out so many of your kind."

Sam didn’t speak. But deep inside, something stirred. A strange, burning anger.

He drew his Primordial Sword with one hand.

In the other, a black flame ignited in his open palm.

His aura surged into it, compressing, growing heavier with every second.

His eyes lit up, glowing brighter than before, his full attention locked onto the demon in front of him.

"But none of them ever realized how badly outclassed they were until the end," Asmodeus laughed, the sound shaking the entire realm. Black flames responded to his amusement, rising with him.

"Oh well," he said, raising one hand. His claws shimmered. "Goodbye."

Fwish! Fwish!

At that moment, hundreds of tridents made of black flames appeared, circling around the entire platform. Every single one aimed directly at Sam.

Asmodeus held out one arm, the claws on that hand glowing with power.

In the other hand, he spun his trident slowly, dark energy radiating from it in waves.

"So... do you see now, Primordial?" His grin widened. "It’s pointless. You’ll be consumed by these flames, just like the others. And then..."

He didn’t finish the sentence. He didn’t have to.

Sam understood. But none of that mattered right now.

Sam didn’t blink nor flinch. He stared ahead, eyes fixed on Asmodeus. Not one trident shook him.

Asmodeus’ eyes burned, a mix of pitch-black and bloody red.

His skin was darker now, marked with crimson lines and strange veins of corruption.

This wasn’t the same version that he met in the layer above.

This was the real one. This was Asmodeus in his true domain.

Sam was standing in the center of his hell. Trapped. Surrounded. Caged.

And yet—

[As long as your determination doesn’t falter, we can do this.]

Sam nodded. He was ready to fight the fourth [Forsaken Lord].

"I knew it," Asmodeus said, watching him with unreadable eyes. "You won’t give up. The others didn’t either. You all fought until the very end."

He scoffed.

"You won’t be missed."

Sam glanced to his side. A panel glowed softly beside him.

[Hatred Bar: 42%]

’Not enough... I won’t be able to make it.’
