Chapter 127 - 127 127 She Died

Chapter 127: Chapter 127 She Died Chapter 127: Chapter 127 She Died At the same moment, the bridal car that Qiao En should have been in crossed the bridge.

Inside sat a woman who looked exactly like Qiao En.

She wore a white wedding gown, with her makeup done exquisitely.

Her eyes gleamed with a sinister light.

“Big brother, did you take a detour or something? Why has it taken so long and we’re still not there?”

She impatiently berated the driver.

“That road was too congested, this way is the same distance. Don’t worry, we’ll be there soon,”

the driver replied with a smile.

The woman leaned back in her seat, her gaze falling out the window.

The sun shone brightly on a beautiful day.

At the traffic light, the driver hit the brakes, but for some reason, the car suddenly wouldn’t obey him.

“Hey, it’s a red light, didn’t you see?”

the woman exclaimed.

The driver strained, his hands desperately turning the steering wheel as he had already stomped the brake pedal to the floor.

“The brakes have failed,”

he shouted loudly.

The car had veered off course, heading straight for Happiness Bridge.

The woman panicked, clutching the car’s handle tightly.

A loud “bang” sounded as the car smashed through the railing and plunged straight into the sea…

The Ding Family.

The house was festooned with lights and decorations, radiating festivity.

Mother Ding, clad in a red silk cheongsam, greeted the guests with joyful enthusiasm.

She glanced at the time; it was nearly eleven o’clock and the bridal car hadn’t arrived yet.

“Haohao, could you make a call to ask why En’en hasn’t arrived? Missing the auspicious hour would be bad,”

Mother Qiao said to Ding Hao in a low voice, urging him on.

Ding Hao, in a white suit, looked spirited.

“Alright, I’ll call right now,”

he said and took out his phone, finding a quiet spot to call Qiao En.

But strangely, the call went through, yet no one answered.

“The bride has run away? Ha, I told you, a melon forced off its vine isn’t sweet. You didn’t believe it, and now, look what’s happened. You’re embarrassing yourself and dragging us into it as well,”

Ding Ruyi mocked with her arms crossed.

Ding Hao, not wanting to give up, dialed again, but still no one answered.

“Shut your crow’s mouth,”

he snapped back. Ding Ruyi rolled her eyes and elegantly walked away.

Unable to reach Qiao En, Ding Hao contacted the wedding company and then called the driver of the bridal car.

Again, no one answered the phone.

He suddenly realized something and sprinted down the stairs.

“Haohao, when will En’en arrive?”

Mother Ding asked again.

Ding Hao’s complexion looked terrible. “Mom, I need to step out,”

he said, and rushed out.

Mother Ding quickly followed. “You are the groom, you can’t leave before the wedding ceremony, it’s tradition.”

But Ding Hao couldn’t care less about tradition at that moment.

He got into his car and drove straight to the hotel where Qiao En was staying.

By the time he arrived, Mother Qiao was just about to leave.

“Young Master Ding, why have you come?”

she asked in surprise.

“Where’s En’en? Where is she?”

Ding Hao asked anxiously.

“She got in the bridal car and left early. She should be at your place by this time!”

Mother Qiao had no idea what was happening, and Ding Hao didn’t explain, his expression incredibly tense.

Just then, on the hotel lobby’s TV, the local news suddenly broadcasted a message.

“At around 10:40 this morning, a bridal car broke through the railing of Happiness Bridge and fell into the sea; the fire department has already initiated a rescue, and the two passengers in the car are being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment…”

Ding Hao was struck dumb.

He bolted from the spot.

Twenty minutes later, he showed up at Central Hospital.

However, the news awaiting him was devastating.

The woman in the wedding gown was dead.

Hearing this news, Ding Hao refused to believe it.

“Impossible, she can’t be dead.”

It was not until he went to the morgue and saw the woman in the wedding dress lying motionless there that he approached, his eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at her for a long time.

“Qiao En, are you really dead?”

He murmured to himself.

The woman’s eyes were tightly closed, her body already devoid of warmth.

Ding Hao reached out, touching her lips briefly.

Ice-cold.

She was dead, but the driver had survived.

When Ding Hao rushed to the hospital ward, the man had just regained consciousness.

Though he had survived, he was severely injured, with five broken ribs and a fractured arm.

“Speak, what exactly happened?”

Ding Hao grabbed his collar in one swift motion, demanding coldly.

“The… the brakes failed, I… I couldn’t control the car, it just charged forward on its own…”

The driver stuttered out.

“Why didn’t you die?”

Ding Hao demanded again.

The driver was scared out of his wits, not daring to utter another word.

Ding Hao was extremely angry, his rage having nowhere to vent, he swung his fists, smashing them against the wall time and time again.

A promise of three years; she had agreed to stay by his side for three years, but now, she had broken that promise with her death.

He had prepared a grand wedding, yet she was absent.

He returned to the morgue, wanting to take one last look at the woman.

Qiao En’s mother had somehow arrived, kneeling on the ground, crying continuously.

“My En’en, my En’en.”

She wept with tears streaming down her face.

“Mr. Ding, how could En’en be gone just like that?”

Qiao En clutched Ding Hao’s arm, but was thrown off by him.

“Don’t ask me, I don’t know.”

He walked in, standing firmly in front of that woman.

Gazing deeply at her one last time.

Suddenly, he revealed a sinister cold smirk.

“You won.”

Having said that, he turned around and strode out.

Los Angeles.

Zhou Jin’an had just arrived and immediately threw himself into work.

Cheng Lu was tormented by jet lag until he felt dizzy, so he kindly suggested, “Director Zhou, today is a day off, and you have just arrived. Why not take a good rest?”

Zhou Jin’an gave him a dismissive look, “Are you a pig? Only thinking of sleep.”

Cheng Lu was left speechless by the retort.

Zhou Jin’an was a workaholic, and his drive forced Cheng Lu to continuously push forward.

It was twelve noon in China, right when the wedding ceremony was supposed to take place.

Zhou Jin’an’s right eye kept twitching.

Suddenly, he spoke up.

“Call Secretary Chen, tell her to attend the wedding.”

In the end, he couldn’t let go of Qiao En.

Cheng Lu followed the order, “Alright, I’ll call now.”

He dialed Chen Yin’s number, not mentioning that it was Zhou Jin’an’s arrangement, simply asking her to represent the company there.

Before Cheng Lu could finish, Chen Yin interrupted him.

“Assistant Cheng, there’s no need. The wedding has been canceled.”

“Canceled?”

Cheng Lu suddenly raised his voice.

While reviewing documents, Zhou Jin’an’s pen fell from his hand in shock.

He snatched the phone from Cheng Lu’s hand, only to hear Chen Yin’s voice from the other end.

“Secretary Qiao’s bridal car had an accident; she’s dead. I just received the news, an hour ago. She was taken to the hospital and never made it…”

It was as if he had been struck by lightning.

The phone Zhou Jin’an was clutching fell to the ground with a “clack”.

Dead? How could Qiao En, who was perfectly fine, be dead?

He didn’t believe it; he simply couldn’t believe it.

“Get the private jet, we’re going back immediately.”

Zhou Jin’an gave the command, and Cheng Lu immediately made the arrangements.

Ten hours later, the private jet he was on arrived in Rong City.

However, what greeted him was a black-and-white photo with a frozen smile.
