Chapter 998: Chapter 66 Compassion, Good and Evil [Combined Volume 3]
The Mysterious Yellow Battle Armor landed with a chokehold at the waist, lifting Evil Ksitigarbha with its tremendous strength and flipping him onto the ground, causing a thunderous crash that shattered large swathes of the city’s buildings and towers.
Although it did not cause significant physical damage, this was the first time Evil Ksitigarbha had been brought down since his appearance!
"Roar!" He roared furiously again, followed by an explosion of terrifying Demonic Flames around his body!
Hiss-crackle—
The Mysterious Yellow Battle Armor, exposed to the demonic fire, even emitted strange noises. Although the armor itself was unharmed, Lu Jiuwei inside could no longer withstand it.
Scalded by the fire poison, he experienced severe pain all over his body. Clenching his teeth, he made no sound but instead quickly distanced himself.
This Evil Ksitigarbha was not only strong physically, but his Spiritual Power was also beyond imagination! It turned out he did possess Divine Skills, but the fight so far had not warranted their use.
Many powerful beings and numerous Divine Artifacts encircled this world-destroying behemoth, all simultaneously thinking one thought.
How could there be two such terrifying beings in the world?
...
Whoosh—
Barely having a moment to heal after withstanding a hit from Evil Ksitigarbha, the Prison King, unable to even search for the Crown Prince, grabbed the Emperor of the Yu Dynasty and mounted the Golden Crow, fleeing the Yu Capital City in a streak of flames.
With the speed of the Golden Crow God Soul, it wouldn’t take long to reach Shu Mountain, where the Demon God was stationed, at least preventing Evil Ksitigarbha from killing at will.
Ironically, the Demon God, who had previously been condemned by the world, had now become the hope of the Mortal Realm.
However, the flame did not fly to the Southern Region, but suddenly stopped not far from leaving Yu Capital City.
Although severely injured, the Prison King’s Spiritual Sense remained sharp in the face of danger. Sensing faint fluctuations of Spiritual Power in the night sky ahead, he abruptly halted, bringing the Golden Crow God Soul to a stop before cautiously scanning the surroundings.
"Worthy of the Prison King, you remain so vigilant even when gravely injured," a faint voice of praise echoed from the night sky.
The dark night ahead began to shift, and a towering circular ring gradually emerged, shrinking down to the size of a bracelet, revealing the figure behind it.
It was an aged face, still carrying a hint of divinity. The Prison King had seen him before; this man was the Venerable Wanfa of the Northern Region Holy Mountain.
A sage of some renown across the Four Seas and Nine Continents.
The barrier that spanned the heavens earlier was indeed the Universe Ring. If the Prison King had been just slightly careless and plunged into it, he would have entered the realm of Venerable Wanfa. Escaping from there would not have been so simple afterward.
"So, you didn’t die," the Golden Crow flapped its wings as the Prison King eyed Venerable Wanfa with hostility, "appearing here today, you must have some scheme behind faking your death."
"In our cultivation, we only seek the great Dao; what schemes could there be?" Venerable Wanfa said with a smile.
"If you are competing for the Dao, we shall not obstruct you," the Prison King said with a frown.
"I do not wish to be enemies with the Prison King, but as for His Majesty, the Emperor of the Yu Dynasty..." Venerable Wanfa looked towards the Emperor, "I’m afraid it might be a bit inconvenient for you."
The Emperor of the Yu Dynasty stood, hands behind his back on the back of the Golden Crow, already anticipating that he was the target. He calmly asked, "This Emperor has always held respect for the Venerable; from where does today’s conflict arise?"
"Your Majesty is not at fault. It’s my fault," Venerable Wanfa sighed deeply, "You don’t know how many years I closed myself off in meditation to comprehend the Dao. Ultimately, I realized that in this world, there is no good and evil. Immortality, mastering the universe... it all comes from seizing. I’ve practiced Buddhism all my life, and only on the brink of death did I suddenly understand that there’s no compassion or moral dichotomy. The Spiritual Energy is a gift from the heavens; being able to seize it is a mark of ability, and surviving to the end is the epitome of virtue. To live, I had to commit many evils, more than all the good I did in the first half of my life combined."
"Indeed," another sneering voice came from behind, Lin Poyun appeared on the path of the Golden Crow’s retreat, "This old man claims to be a sage, yet he commits more killings and harms than even I do."
"So much idle chatter, are you not just looking for a fight?" the Prison King scoffed with a smirk, "Merely with you two defeated dogs?"
Both the Northern Region Holy Mountain and the Underworld King Sect were beyond redemption now, so his insult was not misplaced. This was also one of the Prison King’s abilities, always finding the most fitting words to insult his enemies succinctly.
This was something of a tradition within the Xia Imperial Family as well.
"Have you not yet realized who really is the defeated dog, Prison King?" Another voice echoed from the void, as another ray of light rushed from the direction of Yu City.
When the light faded, another aged man in gray robes appeared.
The Prison King recognized his face too.
The Great Master of Mars.
"Everything in Yu City went smoothly; no one could stop Evil Ksitigarbha," he paused mid-air, then turned respectfully towards Venerable Wanfa, reporting, "Master."
