Chapter 973: Chapter 54: Convinced [Two in One]_3

And even the Thorn Dragon King, within Shenxu, had faced deadly perils times without number and eventually fell in obscurity. His undying resentment posthumously transformed into a mindless Bone Dragon that lingered in this place; later, a devotee from Shenxu Temple enlightened it, sealing it here beneath a mountain ridge, and commanding it to guard the outskirts of Shenxu Temple. From then on, this place was named Dragon Thorn Ridge.

"Roar——"

A furious roar shot up to the sky, as the Bone Dragon’s colossal frame surged like overturning rivers and seas, completely overwhelming the four people. Attempting to bypass it was out of the question, because if there were even stronger enemies ahead, they would be even more endangered, trapped front and back.

Immortal Qi Jing summoned the Moving Mountains Technique, and in an instant, dozens of peaks were drawn in, each smashing down upon the Bone Dragon’s body, but before it could be suppressed, they would be hurled aside, turning into rubble.

"Cease this feral display, you Ghosts," Immortal Qi Jing bellowed, "If you persist, I shall call forth the Divine Artifact and ensure your utter annihilation!"

"Bring it on!" the Bone Dragon responded with a thundering voice, "My Thorn Dragon Tribe refuses to submit to the heavens above, the earth below; in life, we defy gods, and in death, we defy the sacred. To think that you can make me retreat is sheer folly!"

With its roar, ghostly flames erupted completely, enveloping the entire Bone Dragon’s form in green fire that twined around without a hint of warmth. The area within a hundred miles seemed as though it had plummeted into the Underworld, the chill of the air bone-deep. If there were any Demon Beasts with weaker cultivation nearby, their souls would be incinerated in an instant.

Immortal Qi Jing’s eyebrows tightened, ready to summon the Shu Mountain Divine Boat. Although resorting to the Divine Artifact so early was not his preference, it seemed the only way.

At that moment, Chu Liang waved his hand, saying, "Let me try."

While his voice still echoed, his body had already transformed into a bolt of lightning, in an instant appearing beside the Bone Dragon’s head. Their numerous previous attacks here could not completely extinguish that cluster of soul fire.

Unlike ordinary ghost fire, the Bone Dragon’s Soul Fire, refined by the followers of Shenxu Temple, was exceedingly powerful.

Yet, Chu Liang still wished to try. He raised his right hand, bearing the Pan God Bone, and thrust it into the Bone Dragon’s eye socket. A strange force attempted to block it, but was immediately dissolved by the Pan God Bone. This strike pierced straight into the Bone Dragon’s eye socket, into the very heart of the raging Soul Fire!

That single cluster of fire within the eye socket was larger than Chu Liang himself; he was almost entirely engulfed by the fire as he thrust out emitting fierce, azure light. Where the Pan God Bone passed, all ghost fires were dissolved into scattered flame!

"Disdain the heavens, is it? Refuse the earth, is it? Even the Dragon God won’t do, is it?" Chu Liang shouted.

At this critical moment, it was this Pan God Bone he recalled, seeming to have a potent suppressive effect on all things evil and demonic. The last time the unstoppable Demon Seed appeared, it was also pierced by the Pan God Bone. And now, this defiant Bone Dragon might as well be subdued.

The move immediately showed miraculous effects.

You could see the Bone Dragon, which had just been arrogantly defiant, plummeting from the sky, dragon cries and mournful wails unceasing as it spat human words, calling out incessantly: "I yield! Ei ei ei, I yield! I truly yield!"

...

A thousand and eight hundred miles further from Dragon Thorn Ridge lies a gorge that spans between heaven and earth, where no birds cross and not even a feather floats, its dark waters devoid of any light.

One day, a small wooden figure about the height of a palm, dressed in a white Confucian robe that looked incredibly lifelike with eyebrows, eyes, mouth, and nose like those of a living person, darted out from the mountain gorge.

Hovering above the gorge, the little figure frowned slightly as it listened to the roar of a Demon Beast in the distance.

"What’s going on?" A gentleman in green floated out after it, following behind the little figure and asking aloud.

"I don’t know," the little wooden figure shook its head. "Seems like there’s trouble again near Dragon Thorn Ridge; the Thorn Dragon King must have awoken."

"Well, it can’t possibly make it over to us anyway," the gentleman in green said. "Who could possibly handle the Thorn Dragon King once it awakens?"

"But if someone makes it past Dragon Thorn Ridge, that, in itself, isn’t a good sign..." The little wooden figure was quite cautious, "I’m afraid they’re coming for us."

"Ah, surely not," the gentleman in green said. "The little trouble we caused, would they really need to bring Divine Artifacts just to pursue us over it?"

"It’s unlikely for you, but I almost wiped out Shu Mountain..." the wooden figure murmured.

"Don’t overestimate yourself, you were tens of thousands of miles away from wiping out Shu Mountain," the gentleman in green said. "In any case, if we just do what we are supposed to, no matter who they are coming for, we won’t allow them to cross Demon Slaying Gorge, that’s that."

The little wooden figure stood suspended in midair; on close inspection, it was the very Lu Chengyou who had assaulted Shu Mountain at the last Shu Mountain Peak Conference!

The gentleman in green beside him was none other than Young Master Xunyang, implicated for harboring him. Chased by the Yu Dynasty, he had spent some time amongst the Demonic Clan in the desolate Far West Land, performing puppetry daily for little fox spirits. Growing weary of their barbaric ways, he promptly accepted Lu Chengyou’s invitation to a new sanctuary.

Little did he know, Lu Chengyou had invited him to none other than Demon Slaying Gorge!

If the Far West Land of the Demonic Clan was remote, this place was a desolate wasteland where not a single bird feather had been seen in a millennium.

"Besides," Young Master Xunyang gazed into the distance, whispering, "If they were to catch us and throw us in Sky-north Prison, it might not be worse than this place."
