Chapter 781: Chapter 29: Hu Sanlang [Seeking Monthly Tickets!]_1
The moon was high in the sky.
Chu Liang had finally explained the situation. Thankfully, Senior Sister Jiang wasn’t the type to make a fuss over nothing. Otherwise, this trivial matter would have lasted for days, if not dragged out during holidays for all future years.
When everything calmed down, Chu Liang took out the Demon Binding Rope, frowning deeply.
Even though the Demon Binding Rope served well as a control magic artifact, the limitations of its turtle shell binding functionality were nothing but trouble for him. Over the years, it had resulted in countless awkward moments where people considered him a freak.
Chu Liang then wondered if he infused the rope with an Artifact Spirit, would it develop its own consciousness? Could it then not solely be restricted to turtle shell bindings?
But he wasn’t sure if it would work. After all, the Demon Revealing Treasure Brick didn’t turn out to be particularly intelligent once he infused it with an Artifact Spirit. He would speak to it at night, and it would only respond the next morning. The delay made it impossible to carry out a proper conversation.
He wondered if the same would happen to the Demon Binding Rope.
Yet, he had to try.
With this thought, Chu Liang circulated his cultivation and invoked the Reincarnation Rune.
Whoosh—
With a flash of golden light, the Demon Binding Rope floated in the air, its ethereal charm flowing. A moment later, as the brilliance faded, a flickering spiritual light sprang up.
"Did it work?" Chu Liang exclaimed excitedly.
Immediately afterwards, a mischievous laugh echoed throughout the room.
"Hehehehehe..." The laughter had come from the Demon Binding Rope. "Little darling, fancy a taste of some adrenaline-fuelled action?"
"..."
Observing the autonomous floating Demon Binding Rope, Chu Liang had a bad premonition.
He spoke: "Don’t get too excited yet, listen to me first."
"Master!" The Demon Binding Rope seemed to recognise the situation, and called out: "I understand! Since you gave me life, I will tie up all your enemies for you! I will make them tremble with fear, submit, and call you master..."
"Stop, stop, stop!" Chu Liang hurriedly motioned to stop the rope. The situation was getting out of hand.
The Demon Binding Rope now reminded him of Lin Bei, both acting like tactless perverts.
Could it be that it was affected by the place where it was born?
"The reason I infused you with an Artifact Spirit was to negotiate a point with you." Chu Liang spoke in a bargaining tone, "Can we not use the turtle shell binding moving forward?"
"Of course we can!" The Demon Binding Rope pivoted in mid-air. "If it’s your command, how dare I not heed?"
"Good," Chu Liang exhaled a sigh of relief.
It seemed that this perverted Artifact Spirit wasn’t completely disobedient.
At least it was better than the Demon Revealing Treasure Brick.
"Hehe, I got you!" The Demon Binding Rope chuckled nefariously.
Huh?
What did it understand?
Chu Liang frowned and was about to explain in detail when he suddenly noticed a delicate shift in the spiritual energy in the courtyard. He remarked, "Who’s there?"
The next instant, he employed the Shrinkage technique and appeared in the courtyard.
A shadow was indeed lurking under the portico. Judging by its appearance, it was utilising a high-level Escape Technique; almost flawless, hidden in the dark.
Chu Liang instantly grabbed his sword!
"Don’t!" The shadow immediately dashed out, throwing up its hands, and spoke commandingly, "Chu Liang, I have something to discuss with you!"
The man was dressed in black, wearing a ferocious face streaked with terrible scars. But Chu Liang recognised who was beneath the other half of the face.
"Hu Sanlang?" Chu Liang instantly recognised his past enemy.
They hadn’t seen each other for six years. How had he ended up this way?
Just as they were making eye contact, a flash of golden light flew out from the house accompanied by a shout: "Hey, little baby, prepared to get caught!"
Whoosh!
A streak of golden light bound Hu Sanlang in the blink of an eye.
...
Back in his room, Chu Liang cast an ominous look at the immobilised Hu Sanlang on the ground and lowered his voice, "Release him."
"What’s wrong?" The Demon Binding Rope seemed to notice Chu Liang’s mood, "Didn’t I change the binding method according to your command?"
"I asked you to stop using the perverted turtle shell binding..." Chu Liang pulled on one end of the rope, "but I didn’t ask you to switch it with something even more perverted!"
Hu Sanlang was currently bound in a one-armed straddle position, looking somewhat dazed. He anticipated difficulties when seeking Chu Liang tonight, but not in this way...
His mind was struggling to comprehend the situation.
"Master, you don’t like it this way?" The Demon Binding Rope inquired again, "Should I change it, then?"
"No need for that." Chu Liang quickly put it away to avoid further embarrassment in front of White Pagoda.
Then he helped Hu Sanlang up, and said seriously, "The incident just now was an accident."
"Ah..." Hu Sanlang let out a noticeable sigh of relief and nodded, "That’s good."
The atmosphere was awkward.
After a while, it was Chu Liang who broke the silence, "The person who kidnapped Dragon Dance Lady while holding the demon core in his mouth earlier was you, wasn’t it?"
"Yes." Hu Sanlang let out a bitter laugh, "I couldn’t hide it from you."
"I only just now realized that your aura is similar to his." Chu Liang then asked, "Why did you come to see me tonight?"
"I..." Hu Sanlang gritted his teeth and suddenly knelt down again, saying, "I’ve come to ask for your help!"
"Get up before you talk!" Chu Liang quickly helped him up, wondering why everyone was coming to him for help.
Once again standing, Hu Sanlang looked at Chu Liang and slowly began to speak, "Dragon Dance Lady... she is my lover."
Chu Liang then listened as he recounted his experiences over the last few years.
Following the Immortal Sect conference, the Fuyao Country team didn’t achieve high results but weren’t reprimanded. They lost to the champion, Shu Mountain Sect, and there was no shame in that.
They began working at Yu Bo Mansion. Due to Han Lingshuang, they were part of the direct successors of the imperial family, quickly rising to high positions as the personal guards of the Monarch.
During this time, Hu Sanlang met a beautiful girl who grew up in Yu Bo Mansion. Her origin was somewhat mysterious, as she always practiced dancing on the other side of the wall.
The two quickly bonded and became a couple.
Her name was Jing Yue.
Not long after, Jing Yue invited Hu Sanlang to meet her in the mountains outside the city. Hu Sanlang happily accepted the invitation.
However, what was waiting for him there was not Miss Yi, but rather a group of highly skilled masters ready to ambush him. Hu Sanlang was severely wounded and disfigured, and was finally fatally struck down into a mountain stream.
"At this point, anyone else would have died, but they didn’t realize that I grew up in a tiger den in the mountains..." Hu Sanlang recalled that time, his eyes still filled with fury.
When he was on the brink of death, he was saved by a tiger demon in the mountains and nursed back to health in its den for over a year. It was only then that he partially recovered from his injuries and was able to leave the mountains.
When Hu Sanlang returned to Surge Wave City, he discovered that he had been labeled as the assassin who attempted to kill the Monarch, and that the girl had become the alluring Dragon Dance Lady.
From the shadows, Hu Sanlang realized that he had been deceived. She never came that day, and those who had ambushed him were probably in league with her.
But he didn’t have time for grief. Instead, he wanted to find his Master, Han Lingshuang, as quickly as possible and tell him the truth.
Before he could approach Yu Bo Mansion, he heard a light footsteps behind him.
It was Dragon Dance Lady who had followed him.
Hu Sanlang was very surprised. He was already disfigured and wearing a veil to cover his face. How was it possible for her to recognize him?
Dragon Dance Lady answered, "Your gaze is different from anyone else’s. Even if you turned into a beast, I would still recognize you at first sight."
After experiencing complex emotional exchanges, they finally opened their hearts to each other.
As it turned out, Dragon Dance Lady was the adopted daughter of General Yu Bo, Jing Wuya. He had raised this adopted daughter with the intention of using her, and one of her tasks was to frame Hu Sanlang.
Jing Wuya had a magical mirror called "The Treasure Mirror of Retention". Once it shines on a person, their reflection is captured. He could find someone who looks similar, use this reflection to transform them, and easily impersonate the original person.
Dragon Dance Lady had secretly used "The Treasure Mirror of Retention" on Hu Sanlang, but when it came time to kill him, she hesitated, because during that time, she had truly fallen in love with this passionate young man.
However, Jing Wuya ignored her feelings. He sent a message in Dragon Dance Lady’s name to Hu Sanlang, leading him to be ambushed outside the city. On the other hand, he had already found an assassin who looked similar to Hu Sanlang to infiltrate the Monarch’s vicinity.
Even though the assassin’s plan ultimately failed, Jing Wuya completely obliterated any evidence of the body. Taking advantage of this situation, he purged potential threats and greatly weakened Han Lingshuang’s influence in Yu Bo Mansion.
The reason Dragon Dance Lady discouraged Hu Sanlang from going back to see his Master was because everyone in Yu Bo Mansion was under Jing Wuya’s surveillance, and he would likely be unable to escape.
Hearing this, Chu Liang remembered Han Lingshuang’s demeanor when he saw her today. Something was off.
She may have noticed something as well.
Dragon Dance Lady told Hu Sanlang to leave Surge Wave City, "With your talent, as long as you leave and aim high, you can stand out anywhere. Don’t stay in this dangerous place any longer."
Hu Sanlang wanted to take her with him, but she just shook her head. She couldn’t leave.
After a mental struggle, Hu Sanlang resolutely decided to stay in Fuyao Country. He secretly investigated Jing Wuya’s conspiracy, hoping to find an opportunity to overthrow him.
But the more he investigated, the more terrified he became.
Over these years, Jing Wuya’s infiltration into all levels of Fuyao Country had become comprehensive, including Penglai Upper Sect which he had managed to influence, making them turn a blind eye to domestic situations.
If it weren’t for the fact that the citizens still supported the imperial family, he would have already had the power to overthrow them.
And now, the time for him to finally reveal his fangs was near, and Hu Sanlang could no longer suppress his rage.
"Why did you kidnap Dragon Dance Lady if you wanted to sabotage his conspiracy?" Chu Liang curiously asked.
He now understood why Dragon Dance Lady had turned against them unexpectedly. They were a couple, and his presence had only interfered with their plans.
He wondered why Hu Sanlang suddenly acted this way.
He had been waiting patiently for several years and could have spoiled everything on a whim.
Hu Sanlang frowned and said, "After the last attempt, the monarch seldom leaves the palace and the security is very strict. But the monarch has a hobby that few people know about, he’s an aficionado of the lute, especially the music of Xue Lingxue. During the grand selection of Nanyin Square, he even snuck out to Yu Dynasty. I suspect Jing Wuya’s plan revolves around this, and he might be..."
"Going to have Jing Yue pose as Xue Lingxue to assassinate the Monarch!"
