Chapter 735: Chapter 93: Count to Three, Old Man [Request for Monthly Tickets!]_1
Whoosh——
The winds from the Far West Land whipped over the disputed grounds, carrying an onslaught of sand as though engulfed in a sandstorm. The desolation was due to the ferocious war they had witnessed not long ago, which had shattered the land within a radius of thousands of miles to dust. This was the aftermath.
After receiving confirmation that Chu Liang had indeed returned to Shu Mountain, the Human Clan alliance led by Master Wen Yuan decided to refrain from further entanglements. Vanquishing the remaining Demon Kings of the Eighth Realm was not a feasible endeavor, and while they could lay waste to every visible small demonic creature, such an act would ultimately free the Demon Kings from any encumbrances.
If the Demon Kings followed suit and launched a devastating attack on Human City Pool, the human cultivators would have a difficult time dealing with it.
Therefore, once the land in the Far West crumbled, the human cultivators withdrew.
What remained were bloody remnants of war on an eerily silent battleground, particularly severe in Qingqiu’s territory. The villages built painstakingly by Cai Yi for hundreds of years were destroyed in an instant.
Due to its robust material, Seven Kings Ridge remained intact. The sanctuary atop the ridge survived Empress Feng’s fire as it was the place of worship for the Demonic Clan, not so easily razed.
Changfeng, however, was nowhere to be found.
The lingering Samadhi Divine Fire hinted at an unsettling conclusion - he had probably fallen victim to Shu Mountain’s Empress Feng.
The Grand Priest, after speculating, confirmed the demise of Changfeng’s Godly Soul.
Another powerful Demon King of the Demonic Clan had fallen. This was a loss they had not suffered in thousands of years. The gaze of the remaining Demon Kings upon Cai Yi turned sharp and critical.
"The overall conduct of the Human Clan was orchestrated by Qingqiu’s Demon King," thundered the Thunder Mountain Demon King, "You are to blame for this catastrophe that has ensued."
"Has Qingqiu’s Demon King, after residing in the land of the Human Clan for so long, turned traitor?" spat the Wilderness Demon King bluntly, "Even the Shu Mountain disciple escaped your watch. This defeat was entirely your making."
While the Grand Priest did not explicitly say anything, the disappointment riddling his gaze at Cai Yi was clear.
Cai Yi did not respond to the rebukes of the Demon Kings. Instead, she rose to her feet and said, "If there’s nothing else, I will return to my territory. Everything has been destroyed, but rebuilding would certainly be easier than taming the wilderness."
"Hmph." Demon King Nu Yuan sneered, "Are you still fancying the idea of defeating the Human Clan with the resources pilfered from them?"
"You must have lost your mind," exclaimed the Wilderness Demon King.
Cai Yi, standing with her back to everyone, did not respond. Instead, she took to the air straight back towards Qingqiu’s territory. The land that she had worked so hard to cultivate into a home was now barren again.
However, she looked calm, standing on a mountain, scanning the surroundings with her Divine Sense, for the surviving descendants of Qingqiu’s Demonic Clan.
Feeling her presence, the hiding members of Qingqiu’s Fox Clan along with the other demonic beings began to emerge. In no time, a group of demonic creatures gathered around her.
At that moment, a beam of light descended from far across the sky.
The beam flashed down onto the slope of the mountain, revealing a man dressed in a black Taoist robe. It was Daoist Xuan Lu from Penglai.
Having just experienced an immense battle with humans, all demonic beings harbored a strong hostility towards them. They showered him with scathing glares.
Only Cai Yi remained calm. She gestured for the group of demonic beings to stay calm and let Daoist Xuan Lu approach.
Through her astute understanding of the human clans, she knew that they, too, were divided into clear factions. Daoist Xuan Lu, who had just arrived, was certainly not part of the same faction as those who attacked the Far Westland.
The enemy of one’s enemy could be a friend, even if this "friend" was the one wholly responsible for Changfeng’s death.
"Greetings, Qingqiu’s Demon King. It seems a war has just transpired here," Daoist Xuan Lu greeted cheerfully. "I trust the Demon King is unscathed?"
"I’m fine," Cai Yi responded with a faint smile, "For what purpose has Daoist Master Xuan Lu come here?"
"The Demon King knows of me?" Daoist Xuan Lu looked surprised. He was relatively new among the significant contributors to Penglai and was, therefore, not widely recognized. Yet, it appeared that the Qingqiu Demon King’s understanding of the celestial gates of the Human Clan was even deeper than he had imagined.
"Among Penglai’s fresh powerhouses, Daoist Cang Sheng cherishes you most," Cai Yi laughed lightly. "Naturally, I’ve heard of your famous name."
"You flatter me," Daoist Xuan Lu waved his hands modestly. He then continued, "I have come here on the orders of my Sect Leader to discuss a matter with the Demon King."
"Please go on," Cai Yi responded generously.
"When you two ensnared Chu Liang, the Great Lake Demon King was hit by my Sect Leader’s Golden Immortal Spell, imparted through the Eastern Sea’s Time Wheel," Daoist Xuan Lu began, "I believe you understand by now its power. Only my Sect Leader can undo the spell sparing no other means of saving the Great Lake Demon King."
"Though we don’t know why you’ve taken Chu Liang or what you plan to do, he surely can’t be more important to your Demonic Clan than an Eighth Realm Demon King," Daoist Xuan Lu looked at Cai Yi, "The intention of our Sect Leader is that, if you hand Chu Liang over to Penglai, he can undo the curse on the Great Lake Demon King."
"..."
Cai Yi stared silently in the direction where the group of strong humans had left a moment ago, not speaking for a long time.
Finally, she spoke again: "Daoist Master Xuan Lu, if someone wanted to exchange your great-grandfather’s life for the Demon Suppression Tower, would you do it?"
Daoist Xuan Lu was taken aback, not understanding her meaning: "My great-grandfather is long dead... and hasn’t Shu Mountain’s Demon Suppression Tower been lost for hundreds of years?"
"Exactly." Cai Yi sighed.
What’s the use of this exchange...
It’s not just about missing the hot mess, but it’s like throwing the fertilizer into the field and growing vegetables, and only then realizing its necessity.
It’s simply too late.
"However..." She turned her eyes, "I do wonder, what does your Penglai’s Sect Leader want to do with Chu Liang? Don’t say it’s for the sake of taking revenge for his illegitimate child. I’m not a three-year-old child."
...
"I’m counting to three!"
"Oh dear, don’t lose your temper."
"..."
Inside Unbounded Palace of Shu Mountain, the Purple Green Twin Swords caused another uproar. From the moment Master Wen Yuan returned, Ci Jian and Xiong Jian had been here.
The cause was Xiong Jian fighting alongside Baize, which had made Ci Jian discontent.
She asked Master Wen Yuan to remove Xiong Jian from Sword Sheath Peak and move his dwelling to Guard Peak. From then on, only her sword would remain on Sword Sheath Peak.
Division of house!
Master Wen Yuan looked at the squabbling twin swords, equally headache-ridden. There are many divine artifacts with spirits, but the most lively artifact spirits belonged to these two swords of Shu Mountain.
Generations of Shu Mountain Head Masters had all inevitably undertaken the burden of mediating their spousal relationship.
Just then, a voice outside the door announced that Chu Liang was seeking an audience.
"Chu Liang, come in quickly." Master Wen Yuan hurriedly said: "You get along well with them, persuade these two."
"Ah?" Chu Liang also felt a big headache. He had just finished mediating between the three beasts on Yunyao Peak and Silver Sword Peak; now he had to mediate the situation here.
However, the situation there was a mess he had created; he had learned the hard way not to misuse the Heart-Charming Demon Spell.
But this situation had nothing to do with him.
Looking at the rambunctious Purple Green Twin Swords, Chu Liang could only try to mediate: "Elder Qing Suo, there’s absolutely no chance of Zi Ying and Baize having an affair."
Ci Jian raised her hilt, "How would you know?"
Chu Liang fell silent for a moment.
How to prove that it’s impossible for a sword and a divine beast to have an affair? Is this a difficult problem?
But after thinking about it, he still earnestly said, "Because I know Baize’s life is running out. She’s doing all this just to protect Shu Mountain... Elder Qing Suo, in the face of this great enemy, she, as an aging mother, is willing to fight for Shu Mountain. As Shu Mountain’s most powerful Divine Artifacts, can you afford to stand by and watch?"
"Right." Xiong Jian echoed.
"Baize is going to die?" The news shocked Ci Jian as well.
She then suddenly remembered her prejudice against her, feeling extremely guilty.
"That’s right." Chu Liang turned back to Master Wen Yuan, "Master, I have an important matter to report. It’s about Baize!"
