Chapter 709: Chapter 67, Kite Flying [Seeking monthly ticket!]_1
"Chu Liang, please, stop killing. I’m terrified."
Du Wuhen followed Chu Liang, aghast at the sight of the fallen Sea Beast corpses around them. His mind was spinning, struggling to remember how they got here in the first place. Is this truly a land of trials and hardships?
Did I almost get killed by these things?
After some time spent sweeping the area, Chu Liang discovered that even with the shrimp head, he could no longer find any Sea Beasts. These creatures had their ways of gathering information, and upon learning a feared killer was amongst them, they swiftly retreated whenever they felt Chu Liang’s approach.
"Well..." Chu Liang landed with an air of disappointment, "Looks like we’ve about cleared them out; it’s hard to catch these Sea Beasts in the sea."
"I can help you." Jiang Yuebai offered.
Then, she gently pricked her finger, a few drops of Immortal Spirit Body blood dripping out—an irresistible bait to the Sea Beasts now stronger than before due to her high cultivation level.
Du Wuhen was dumbstruck. Could they really do this?
You’re really spoiling him, huh?
Soon, the surrounding seawater began to roil as the greed of the Sea Beasts overpowered their fear, and they all congregated in response to the tempting scent of blood.
"Heh heh." Chu Liang’s spirits picked up again, and with the Demon-slaying Sword in hand, he dove into battle.
Whoosh—
No matter what Sea Beast they faced, one cut was enough.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom—
Just as Chu Liang resumed his slaughter, the Sea Beasts behind him suddenly parted as though something even more terrifying was emerging.
Chu Liang’s sharp senses caught this unusual movement, and he immediately halted.
The next moment, a burst of golden light accompanied by a deafening roar descended, "Roar—"
Boom—
Chu Liang quickly activated the Shrinkage technique which helped him narrowly avoid the descending golden light.
Chu Liang turned to see a golden-furred massive ape, its fur radiant like golden flames, and its eyes full of wild brutality. The creature donned ancient armor, giving off a resounding sense of dignity and ferocity.
It’s Wu Zhiqi.
In one glance, Chu Liang recognized the creature that terrorized all the other Sea Beasts. This savage, Warmongering creature loved to challenge strong opponents; only those who could defeat it could leave this place.
"Though I’m curious, why is the boss of the Sea Demons a monkey?" Chu Liang suddenly asked.
"Maybe because it’s a water monkey?" Du Wuhen replied, slightly at a loss. "But... isn’t the important part that you’ve lured it out? So if you can defeat it, we can leave. If not..."
"Then you will be torn to shreds by me..." Wu Zhiqi spoke in human language, a cruel smirk spread across its face.
"How about we give it a try then?" Chu Liang, gripping the Demon-slaying Sword, spread his wings wide and clashed head-on with the incoming golden light.
Boom—
Just one blow sent him flying hundreds of feet, crashing severly into a large rock. Wu Zhiqi showed no signs of slowing, aside from the golden blood trickling from its arm.
This water monkey...
Its physical body is already at the Seventh Realm, Chu Liang thought to himself, feeling numb as he flew from within the massive rock. The strength of Wu Zhiqi far exceeded that of a Sixth Realm Sea Beast, clearly evident from their brief clash.
If any Sea Beast in the Sea Demon reached the Seventh Realm, it would naturally leave this place. Wu Zhiqi, at most, was at the peak of the Sixth Realm, but due to years of refining and permeating in the sea, its physical body had grown unimaginably strong. Without the Demon-slaying Sword, breaking its defense would have been near impossible.
Jiang Yuebai, seeing this, asked, "Do you need help?"
"Not yet."
Confronting a formidable enemy, Chu Liang remained unafraid, instead transforming into a form with three heads and six arms.
In one hand, the Demon-slaying Sword, another held the Dustless Sword, another held the Beheading Red Famous Sword, another held the Demon Binding Rope, another controlled the Amnesia Pearls, and finally one remaining hand gestured forward, loudly beckoning, "Come on!"
Upon seeing this, Wu Zhiqi charged forward once again, a golden bolt of light roared in Chu Liang’s direction, BOOM—
Chu Liang went flying again by the impact, several hundred yards away, but out of the original hole emerged another Chu Liang. The one who got knocked away was merely an External Avatar.
The real Chu Liang, complete with his three heads and six arms, crawled out from the pit in the stone, taking advantage of Wu Zhiqi’s momentarily vulnerability after its devastating attack to counter with all of his Magic Artifacts.
Under the restraints of the Demon Binding Rope and the blinding effect of the Amnesia Pearls, alongside the flurry blows from his three swords, Chu Liang managed to wound Wu Zhiqi once again, all in an instant.
Unfortunately, only the Demon-slaying Sword could penetrate his defense, and a single blow from it wasn’t enough to kill him. Wu Zhiqi regained his senses and launched another kick.
Boom ----
Brutal yet straightforward, Chu Liang was sent flying again.
This time, the wound was almost bone deep. Enraged, Wu Zhiqi roared and chased after Chu Liang, intending to deliver a lethal blow. Just when Jiang Yuebai couldn’t hold back and was about to intervene, a thunderclap echoed from that direction.
Bang!
Divine Thunder struck from the sky. Although Wu Zhiqi wasn’t injured, he was immobilized momentarily once again.
Chu Liang made a sudden move, striking again with the Demon-slaying Sword.
This time, he learned to be clever. After delivering his blow, he turned and ran, not giving the enemy a chance to counterattack.
"Wa ya ya--" After suffering three hits from the sword, with each wound deeper than the last, Wu Zhiqi grew even more irritated and chased after him furiously.
However, just as he was closing in, Chu Liang used the Amnesia Pearl, followed by another sword attack, and promptly turned to run once again.
Shit--
Wu Zhiqi’s golden blood was already staining a large area of the water. However, this time he was not even able to touch Chu Liang’s hair.
"Ah!" Filled with frustration, he pounded his chest and stomped his feet. In the end, he gritted his teeth and shouted, "I’m done. I’m not fighting anymore!"
Chu Liang’s strategy of kiting left Wu Zhiqi feeling utterly helpless. Controlled by numerous tactics while facing a sword that could break his defense, Wu Zhiqi’s speed and defense, which he had always relied on, were heavily restrained.
Although his strength was potent, every time he hit Chu Liang, a part of his power was absorbed by Chu Liang’s Jiuli Soul Armor, and a substantial amount was rebounded back to him.
Restrained in every aspect, it would be odd if he had been able to win.
Upon hearing Wu Zhiqi concede, Chu Liang breathed a sigh of relief. This kind of kiting strategy was like dancing on the edge of a blade, with even the smallest mistake leading to a strong counterattack. If the opponent admitted defeat, there could be nothing better.
So he said, "Let’s call it a draw this time. I’ll challenge you again when there’s time. Please let us leave for now."
"Alright!" Wu Zhiqi nodded and then raised his arm, causing a golden light to flash.
Whoosh--
The waves overhead suddenly parted, opening a path-like gap.
Chu Liang asked, "Is this your secret realm?"
"Of course not." Wu Zhiqi replied, "I’m merely the gatekeeper here."
"Then..." Chu Liang asked curiously, "Who is the owner of this secret realm?"
Wu Zhiqi shook his head, choosing not to answer.
Seeing that he wasn’t going to say anything, Chu Liang stopped asking. He called over Jiang Yuebai and Du Wuhen, and the trio prepared to leave together.
Du Wuhen hesitated for a moment. Daoist Xuan Lu had intended for him to gain experience in this realm before allowing him to join Penglai. But if he left now, would it be...
But on a second thought, screw Daoist Xuan Lu.
He had never considered him as a person.
He was going to leave!
And he was going to be the first to leave!
With this in mind, he angrily soared into the air, preparing to leave through the gap.
At this moment, something unexpected happened.
Right above their heads, an unexpected figure suddenly appeared from the void. It was a middle-aged man who looked rather sickly and unimpressive. However, there was a dangerous aura about him. He just hid there, and Du Wuhen didn’t notice until he was almost right upon him.
Shit.
Du Wuhen didn’t have time to react. He barely managed to dodge as the middle-aged man waved his hand casually.
With one swift chop, he had nearly cut off Du Wuhen’s neck. Even so, one of his shoulders was almost entirely severed from his body.
"Ah--" Du Wuhen screamed in pain, falling from the sky.
That middle-aged man then turned his lifeless gaze towards Chu Liang and Jiang Yuebai, and a spark of hatred ignited in his eyes.
"My wife suffers in the Sky-north Prison, yet you are here, pairing up," he muttered, "You should all die in pairs..."
