Chapter 226: Chapter 19: Rising Wind, Scudding Clouds [Thanks to the Alliance Hierarch reward from "Cricket Great Demon King"]_1
One day, the Tianshu Pavilion Master cast divination for the mortal realm, revealing an impending birth of a disaster demon. Despite the joint efforts of the Nine Heavens Powers at Immortal’s Lake, they failed to capture the disaster demon.
It escaped through the waterway to the Southern Sea.
Previous disaster demons would typically scramble to cause destruction and rise in power the moment they appeared. This was the first instance of one evading capture, sending a chill down the spines of the beings in the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands. Wherever a disaster demon went, calamities would follow. It was feared that once again, innocent lives would be taken.
But surprisingly, that didn’t happen. The disaster demon was taken by a stray cultivator known as Immortal Qi Jing, and ever since, its whereabouts have been unknown. The Nine Heavens and Ten Lands issued a warning to Immortal Qi Jing, cautioning him against attempting to misuse the disaster demon’s powers to cause harm in the mortal realm.
Chu Liang, upon reading this, furrowed his eyebrows.
Because part of the information was leaked by him, including the portion about the little girl and Immortal Qi Jing, which he had reported to Shu Mountain’s upper echelons. They should have also communicated with the Tianshu Pavilion.
Back then, they were still uncertain about the identity of the girl. So, had the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands already confirmed her as the disaster demon?
Once Chu Liang saw the subsequent piece of news, he understood their certainty.
Because it was immediately followed by the Lunar Sect’s issued bounty across the mortal realm. They were offering a bounty for the life of Immortal Qi Jing and rewards for useful information.
The style was clearly that of the Lunar Sect.
They were known for their secluded lifestyle, shying away from conflicts within the Immortal Sects. However, once crossed, they were known to retaliate unreservedly.
Especially this time, when they hadn’t provoked anyone.
Yet, their ancestral grave was desecrated and even the coffin was plundered. There was certainly a justified reason to be furious.
The Tianshu Pavilion speculated that Immortal Qi Jing had stolen the ice coffin to suppress the disaster energy within the demon. However, the article warned that this was not a permanent solution and could backfire over time.
So that’s how...
It all became clear. Immortal Qi Jing took the disaster demon to the Southern Sea, then went to the North Region to steal an ice coffin to suppress it, temporarily holding back the disaster energy.
As for why he captured the disaster demon, Chu Liang believed that he had no intentions of using its power. The little girl seemed to have the surname Jiang, and Immortal Qi Jing might also have the surname Jiang... Knowing this, one could infer the rest.
Then, there was another huge piece of news following that.
That was about the disappearance of Xu Baishan, the head of the Four Seas Whale Guild.
The battle for the title of new chief of the Whale Guild was heating up. Jiang Shenting of the East Whale Guild was caught in a surprising deadlock with Xu Baishan. This was unexpected to many people.
During this crucial time, while Xu Baishan was sailing to the Western Sea, a ferocious creature called the Giant Python suddenly appeared and swallowed his ship whole.
The Giant Python possessed the power of Qiankun, capable of swallowing everything. Even though Xu Baishan, as a Seventh Realm mighty cultivator, was no pushover, it should not have been difficult for him to escape from the python’s belly. Yet, his whereabouts were now unknown, leading to speculation about what could have happened inside the python.
Upon reading this news, many naturally suspected the involvement of Jiang Shenting. But what followed was a statement from Jiang Shenting, declaring that the Whale Guild was in deep grief, anger, and shock over the head’s disappearance. It was clarified that it had absolutely nothing to do with the East Whale Guild, who would also continue to search for Xu Baishan.
As to how many believed this explanation, that’s another story.
Chu Liang thought back to Xu Hongqiu, the magnanimous lady he met in Taotie City. He wondered how she was faring now?
It was often the case that when there weren’t many major events happening in the mortal realm, a lot of the news would be about the young generation of cultivators. However, with the current turmoil, the young generation seemed somewhat insignificant.
Except for the one piece of news at the end.
Weit Tiandi, the second senior brother from Thunder Fortress, crossed hands with Feng Chaoyang, the chief disciple of the Heavenly King Sect. Their fierce battle collapsed the Wangyun Mountain, and neither emerged victorious.
Even though both were on the righteous path, they had many disputes regarding heavenly material and earthly treasure, secret realms, magic artifacts and so on. It was not uncommon, especially since both were representatives of their respective sects.
The core disciples of Thunder Fortress were well-renowned. The eldest brother, Du Wuhen was loyal and compassionate, second was Wei Tiandi who possessed wisdom and bravery, and thirdly, Deng Yixiao, renowned for his vigor.
Many outsiders believed that the Thunder Fortress would rise among the ranks of the Nine Heavens Immortal Sect over their generation.
Of course, those who held this view did not include disciples from Shu Mountain.
Because they were all quite conscious that if any of the current Nine Heavens Immortal Sect were to be ousted, then it probably would be Shu Mountain. If they stood up, nobody would have the good will to stop them.
Considering that Thunder Fortress’ Wei Tiandi was equal to the chief disciple of Heavenly King Sect added to the impression of a strong new generation.
The future is promising!
...
This issue of the "Worldly Tales" doesn’t have any notable stories, other than Shen Qingyan preparing for her tour, there’s not much news that merits attention.
There are only so many resources available to the Tianshu Pavilion; it’s not possible for them to cover everything. With so many major news items to investigate in this edition of "Strategies of the Nine States", naturally less effort would be put into the "Worldly Tales".
Setting down the "Seven Star Mansion Report," Chu Liang stepped outside to get some fresh air.
The imminent signs of turbulent times are growing stronger, with the sensation that a severe winter is on its way. Tao Wu, Disaster Demon, the devouring giant python...names, which would usually only emerge once in a long while, are suddenly coming together. And everyone knows that these aren’t even the real things to be afraid of...
What truly terrifies are the Demon Gods.
They are entities that are entirely impossible to resist, for no human has reached the ninth realm till now.
In the past eternity, almost every thousand years, a god-like figure would emerge. This meant that every thousand years, there would be one individual in the mortal realm who would ascend to the ninth realm, regardless of their clan.
Within the human clan, there were records of two such saints.
One was Saint Li from the ancient times. Due to the passage of time, the accounts of his deeds were quite indistinct. Legends told that there were only seven realms in the mortal realm, with the Wen Dao realm considered to be the ultimate limit.
It was Saint Li who first breached the ninth realm, expanding the mortal realm’s limits to Tongxuan. Only then did the path to the heavens open for later generations.
The other was Saint Yang who emerged around four thousand years ago. In a woman’s body, she forcefully crushed the opposition as she ascended to Tongxuan, achieving unprecedented conquests. This firmly established the dominance of humans in the world of the nine states.
During her time, demons and alien races fled to the four seas in fear. Evil forces revered her, almost deifying her. Even now, in the regions beyond the four seas, some ancient demonic clans worship the statue of this female saint of the human clan.
All signs suggest that there were more than just these two saints in the human clan, but for some unknown reasons, no records of other saints have been passed down, with not a single word written about them in any historical document.
In the last three thousand years, after the Demon God, no other ninth realm beings appeared. Some speculated that it was because the Demon God remained alive in these three thousand years that no new saints emerged.
Previously, there were even some who said Shu Mountain should open the Demon Suppression Tower and release the Demon God to completely kill it. Only then could the vital energy of the universe shift and a new saint might emerge.
To this kind of statement, Shu Mountain simply considered it wisdom.
Now that the Demon God is feared to return soon, the living beings in the nine states have become anxious and panic-stricken. Everyone wishes this to be false. Those who initially clamored about slaying the Demon God and seizing the celestial energy have now disappeared.
...
As Chu Liang was lost deep in thought, he suddenly spotted from the distance a cloud descending from the heavens and a slightly hunched figure slowly approaching.
It was actually Old Man Sikong who had arrived.
Chu Liang promptly stepped forward to greet him, "Greetings, Grand-uncle Master!"
This old man might not be one of the most powerful in Shu Mountain, but he held a very high-ranking position and was highly regarded. Particularly after his successful dragon-fishing event, he had gained a great deal of prestige. No one could afford to disrespect him.
"Hehe, this is my first time visiting the Silver Sword Peak in recent years. You’ve managed it pretty well," Old Man Sikong spoke as he looked at the plantation before him and Liu Xiaoyu who was diligently working within the garden, complimenting with a smug laugh.
"Just casually growing some fruits," Chu Liang replied with a laugh.
"But these dragon-nourished fruits are quite good. Some people brought them to me before. They taste wonderful," Old Man Sikong praised.
Chu Liang’s eyes lit up. If Old Man Sikong had eaten them and said they were good, that would become a strong endorsement in the future.
"If Grand-uncle Master likes them, we would be happy to supply them for you regularly," Chu Liang immediately responded.
"Haha, that won’t be necessary," Old Man Sikong waved his hand, laughing, "I have a serious matter to discuss today, not just here for your fruits."
"Do you need me to notify my Master?" Chu Liang asked. He was puzzled as to why Old Man Sikong would come to the plantation to chat casually with him rather than going directly to the tower if he had important matters.
"I’m not here to see Empress Feng. I’m here to see her," Old Man Sikong raised his hand and pointed ahead.
Chu Liang looked over at the little figure busily watering the plants. Under the bright sunshine, the mist from the watering can created a spectrum of colors.
A young girl amidst rainbow sunlight. He was taken aback, "You’re looking for little Yi?"
