Chapter 166: Chapter 63 Black Whale Mountain [Monthly subscription update]_1

In the dimly lit room.

A shadowy figure sits, eyebrows tightly knotted.

The man in the white robe across him, just as serious, devoid of smiles. A hollow light surrounds him, indicating that it’s not his true body.

Traveling around the world.

He has apparently used the divine skills of the Immortal Law to traverse thousands of miles and meet the shadowy figure.

"Not only did Shu Mountain produces Jiang Yuebai, who can operate the Perfect Cycle, but there is also a disciple from the Third Realm who has distinguished himself," the man in the white robe said solemnly, "Heroes flourish, clearly their destiny is not yet exhausted."

"Heh." The shadowy figure sneered, "Like the proverb goes, a dying worm still wriggles. Shu Mountain is so influential, it’s normal that every generation has a few geniuses. What’s bizarre about that? As long as they don’t have divine artifacts, they’ll always be useless."

"There is a difference among geniuses," the man in the white robe said, paused, then added, "You might not understand, but it’s a fact that a genius who can operate the Perfect Cycle is unsurpassed."

"You..." the shadowy figure had grown irritable, but couldn’t refute. In the end, he could only say grudgingly, "I admit that your cultivation is higher than mine. If it weren’t for that, you wouldn’t have been chosen to infiltrate Shu Mountain."

Upon hearing this, the man in the white robe’s expression also darkened.

The two remained silent for a while.

After a moment, it was the shadowy figure that broke the silence, "Alright, don’t be angry."

"Hmph." The man in the white robe gave a cold snort.

"I know what you’re worried about, you are afraid that the prosperous luck of Shu Mountain will expose our plan," the shadowy figure said, "But don’t worry, our plan was never to kill Shu Mountain in one blow. We just need to slowly erode its luck, first cut down their chosen ones, then gradually drive them out from the Nine Heavens, causing their slow decline."

"I can’t make a move again," the man in the white robe said categorically.

"Of course, we won’t let you make a move again, it’s too risky to do so in Shu Mountain," the shadowy figure said, "You just need to keep an eye on these exceptional disciples, whoever leaves Shu Mountain, just report promptly. I will arrange someone to intercept and kill them."

"Since Shu Mountain likes letting disciples gain experience by venturing out, let them pay the price for doing so!" The shadowy figure waved his right hand as he spoke ruthlessly.

"Be sure when you make a move," the man in the white robe said.

"I always do my work carefully, don’t worry," the shadowy figure laughed, "Like that disciple in the Third Realm, I will send someone in the Fifth or Sixth Realm to kill him... they will not fail."

"I didn’t mean failure," the man in the white robe said, "Even a Third Realm disciple can be killed by anyone, how can they fail? What I meant was, be more meticulous and make sure no clues are leaked. Since the real dragons came, Old Man Sikong has been idle, and has been predicting a lot for Shu Mountain recently. If it weren’t for my magic artifact blocking the divine scheme, my actions last time would’ve been exposed."

"I understand," the shadowy figure nodded, "The Shu Mountain Peak Conference is imminent, it’s the big move. Before that, I will be very careful about these small actions."

"That’s good," the man in the white robe said, "By the way, I heard that the Purple Green Twin Swords have been moving unusually. If there’s any shooting, it’s best to bring a divine artifact. Otherwise, I fear there may be changes."

"Elder brother, that’s a divine artifact known all over the world, it’s not common..." The shadowy figure’s voice revealed a painful tone, "If the Underworld King Sect is asked to move Ksitigarbha’s True Body, that would come at another price!"

"Heh, I don’t care." The man in the white robe shook his head, "That’s something you need to consider, after all, I’ve provided the information. How to handle this is not within my responsibilities."

"You..." The shadowy figure was speechless again.

The man in the white robe waved his sleeves, and his phantom figure vanished with a whoosh.

Thousands of miles away, atop Shu Mountain.

A man in white sitting cross-legged on the ground suddenly opened his eyes, with radiant divine lights in them!

...

Black Whale Mountain.

Among the local Li Tribe, there is a legend about the origin of this mountain.

Long ago, this place used to be a plain, adjoining the Eastern Sea. People of the Li Tribe, with their dark skin, cheerful and hospitable nature, lived by the sea, living off fishing.

But one day, a terrifying demon beast - the Black Demon Whale, appeared in the ocean. It swam in the sea like an island. It was cruel and terrifying, often attacking fishing boats, always eating everyone on the boats.

Because of the Black Demon Whale’s appearance, the people of Li Tribe could no longer collect food from the sea. In that era, they had almost no way to go.

During this time, a powerful giant wanderer came to this place, his name was Fang Yi.

Learning of the tragic fate of the Li Tribe, he decided to help them. But the Black Demon Whale was almost invincible in the sea, no one could defeat it.

And so, Fang Yi traveled to the Southern Region to break a branch off of the Biluo Ancient Tree, journeyed to the Western Regions to kill a wicked flood dragon and extract its tendon, and then to the North Region to locate the greatest artifact refining master in the world, crafting a superior fishing rod from all these elements.

Indeed, he intended to hook the Black Demon Whale onto the shore.

Yet even with the rod in hand, he still lacked a proper bait.

The most beautiful and melodious woman of the Li Tribe, Rosa, stepped forward. She volunteered to immerse herself in the sea as the bait.

So, on the following day, Rosa embarked on a tiny boat into the open sea. She stood on the prow and sang eloquently. Her enchanting song successfully lured the Black Demon Whale.

This monstrous beast instantly sucked Rosa into its mouth, and yet at the same time, it got ensnared by the fishhook coiled around her.

Superhuman Fang Yi began to strenuously reel in on the fishing rod. After a titanic struggle that lasted three days and three nights, he finally succeeded in dragging the Black Demon Whale ashore. Disoriented away from its watery realm, the defeated Black Demon Whale was overwhelmed by Fang Yi and a horde of Li tribesmen who rushed up to it, beating it to death on the shore.

Its corpse then transformed into this very mountain.

Even to this day, a massive statue of a giant stands on the peak of the Black Whale Mountain, with a female figure beneath rearing her head high to sing.

This magnificent masterpiece was cast by the Li tribesmen to honor the memory of superhuman Fang Yi and Rosa.

...

"This legend..."

After listening to the tale, Chu Liang thoughtfully pondered it for a while.

In this world, no legend should be dismissed lightly, as it might indeed be the absolute truth. He trod uneasily on the black stone ground under his feet, wondering if this thing might suddenly come alive.

Standing before him was the towering statue of the giant.

Statuesque, heroic.

"Let’s shelve the legend far now..." Lin Bei, standing nearby, enviously looked at the giant stone head lying there, "You wouldn’t mind lending me your big fellow for a ride, would you?"

"No chance," Chu Liang flatly refused. "I don’t need to think to guess what you are planning. Let me guess, showing off as a scion of some aristocratic family or a prodigy of Shu mountain, then seducing some innocent girls?"

"How could you think of your brother that way!" Lin Bei retorted indignantly, "Why are you always so spot on with your presumptions?"

Chu Liang: "..."

"Ah," Lin Bei shook his head, sighing, "You were pretty impressive in Senior Sister Jiang’s law discourse, and now I bet all the junior sisters in Shu Mountain worship you and you no longer have to worry about it. But I don’t have any options as such; are you okay to watch me feeling lonely every day?"

"I don’t want to," Chu Liang replied, "didn’t I advise you to take the preemptive strike"

"Eh..." Lin Bei was slightly taken aback, "I can execute the preemptive strike but let’s not do the eliminating part."

"I would certainly help you if you were planning to do some legitimate work. But how could I possibly help you to deceive women?" Chu Liang patted his shoulder, "Don’t think of these crooked ways anymore. Let’s go and find the spiritual medicine."

Lin Bei hummed a few times, shrugged his shoulders reluctantly, and then took the lead to move on.

After bypassing two statues and travelling further ahead, they finally reached a narrow path between two towering cliffs. The secluded path was covered with trees and dense vegetation that made it almost invisible. As they looked up, they saw huge mountain walls reaching towards the unending skies, only a thin sliver of sky visible.

"How did you manage to discover such a hidden path?" Chu Liang chuckled, "How did you do that?"

"Don’t remind me. I got separated by accident and was pursued fiercely by a water demon. I was panicked and could only hide under these cliffs. I thought I might be trapped to death... but then, against all odds, I discovered a crack here." Lin Bei explained.

"If I recall correctly, didn’t you mention about a terrifying battle with the water demon..." Chu Liang was recalling his statement.

"Indeed, I was indeed mortally terrified!" Lin Bei stated confidently.

Oh, so it was a one-sided fear.

Chu Liang decided not to interrogate Lin Bei any further; after all, he would need his help in finding the spiritual medicine. Otherwise, it would be quite embarrassing for Lin Bei.

The poor giant head, however, suffered all along the way. Its massive body scraped along the narrow chinks in the pass with great difficulty. As soon as they crossed the narrow passage, they were greeted by a bright and airy valley full of exotic flowers and plants. The wild fragrance filled the air!

In the beginning, it was extremely narrow, barely allowing people through.

But after taking dozens of steps forward, the passage abruptly opened up!
