Chapter 115: Chapter 13: Killing the Leopard in the Long Street [New book asking for monthly tickets!] _1
"Roar—"
A beast’s roar shook the long street.
A gust of black wind seen darting out then. It was a giant black leopard six feet tall and ten feet long. Its brilliant shimmering fur was shrouded in a swirling black whirlwind, laden with a vicious aura.
Had Chu Liang not managed to dodge in time, he might have been rammed by this leopard.
This was a Fourth Realm Black Wind Leopard, which was recently brought to Ten Thousand Beasts Hall. When it was transported out of its cage, the shackled demon beast was supposed to be asleep due to sedatives. Little did they know, it suddenly opened its eyes, biting and killing the man carrying it, before rushing out wildly.
The Black Wind Leopard was renowned for its speed. In a flash, before the masters in Ten Thousand Beasts Hall could react, it had already reached the street.
"The demon beast has escaped! Avoid it!" A high-pitched shout echoed from behind.
The bustling crowd on the street scattered at once. Although most of the inhabitants of Taotie City were cultivators, the majority were still in the first three realms, the face-to-face encounter with this Fourth Realm beast could potentially be fatal.
"Roar—" In the midst of the Black Wind Leopard’s roar, it leapt up, attempting to tread upon the wind and take to the skies.
"Halt, monster!"
A stern rebuke came from within Ten Thousand Beasts Hall. Finally, a master appeared, stretching out his hand with a clinking sound; a string of golden bells connected by a red string was thrown out.
This string of bells unfurled in mid-air, transforming instantly into a large hexagonal net. On each end of the net was a golden bell, the grand net spread out, covering the sky and sun!
The Black Wind Leopard’s path was obstructed. It swiveled its body in mid-air, dropping back onto the street. The crowd below immediately scattered in all directions. Those unable to avoid it in time were slashed by the Black Wind Leopard, resulting in disemboweled bodies, severed arms and legs....
Seven or eight figures flew out from the Ten Thousand Beasts Hall, appearing on the roofs on either side, holding long hooks and golden nets in their hands. They watched intensely, alert and ready to strike.
However, the Black Wind Leopard was too fast, not giving them a chance to launch an attack. It charged forward straight along the street, transforming into a gust of black wind!
"Move away."
The street’s pedestrians had already cleared out of the path of this gust of black wind. However, a female figure stood still amidst it all.
An empty street, livened by a bright splash of red.
She was clad in a sleek, flame-red battle dress, with a high waist and long legs. Her fluttering clothes and the flowing black cape around her waist billowed in the wind. Her hair was tied at the back of her head. Her skin was fair, her facial features delicate and pretty, yet her eyes were sharp.
As breathtaking as a blooming peach tree, yet as cold as frost and snow.
When the black wind howled past, her right hand flipped and promptly drew out an eyebrow-length stick with golden relief, gleaming with golden radiance and seemingly not of mundane texture. Except for the golden relief on the stick, there was also a flame-like red line.
With a step forward, the dust lifted into the air, seeming to move slower.
Next, she raised the long stick with both hands. The red line on the stick abruptly lit up, coiling upwards. When it reached the top of the stick, it coalesced into a three-foot-long crimson blade!
With her legs bent at the knees and her waist compressed, she held the long knife aloft, seemingly letting out a soft shout from her mouth.
By the time all these actions were completed, the Black Wind Leopard had only just arrived above her, its ferocious eyes reflected a dazzling red flash.
Whiz——
The long knife rose and fell.
The ferocity in the Black Wind Leopard’s eyes turned into fear, as it seemingly had never expected such fear-inducing power to emanate from a seemingly weak figure. Its head passed the woman, splitting into two halves; its body passed the woman, splitting into two halves; even its tail split into two halves as it passed the woman.
With one slash, she opened up the leopard that flew past her!
Keep in mind, this Fourth Realm Black Wind Leopard was more than just a flesh and blood beast. Its body was tougher than gold and stone, its fur akin to iron bristles. Yet, under the woman’s knife, it was as though it was made of paper.
Blood from the sky rained down like rain, splattering onto the woman’s red clothes and cloak. She didn’t even blink, her eyes flaming.
Thud——
The two halves of the Black Wind Leopard’s body continued to hurtle dozens of feet further before finally falling to ground, leaving behind a bloody trail.
"Miss!" "Miss!" "Miss..."
In the blink of an eye, a group of figures clustered around her, checking her wellbeing.
"I’m fine, take care of it."
The woman took a stride forward without sparing it another glance. Aura was surging around her.
Just like that, leading a group of people in a grand procession, she entered the grand gates of Ten Thousand Beasts Hall. From the inside, faint voices could be heard,"Clear out! Close the gates! The young lady is going to bathe and change."
...
"So domineering."
Chu Liang, who had observed everything, felt that the woman’s aura was intimidating.
Although he spent a lot of time with Empress Feng, probably because of her age, she rarely displayed her domineering side. She was mostly lazy, not exerting much pressure on others.
But the woman just now, each of her steps seemed to make the surrounding air colder.
Her cultivation level was also extremely high. That Black Wind Leopard was definitely considered a strong beast in the Fourth Realm, its speed faster than lightning, and its claws and teeth akin to divine weapons. The reason for its swift and clean death was nothing more than meeting a nemesis.
The way she had taken action just now...
Chu Liang recollected the incident, back then there was a considerable distance between her and the Black Wind Leopard, just a matter of an instant for the leopard.
Yet in that brief time, she drew her weapon, mustered her blade, lifted it, and gathered strength...
This series of movements appears to happen quite unhurriedly, with no sense of urgency. However, once she had completed everything, the Black Wind Leopard had just managed to pounce in front of her.
It was as if they were moving at different rates of time.
No... The key seemed to be when she took that step.
With that step, strangeness arose around her. This reminded Chu Liang of something, the Array Techniques.
Formation usually requires the complex arrangement of multiple forces but in the Cultivation World, there exists a unique method that can simplify it. Making use of one’s True Qi for guidance, the formation can be completed with a single person.
This form of cultivation lineage that specializes in formation is known as Array Techniques.
If Chu Liang wasn’t mistaken, the woman had just used an instant-cast Array Technique. It was clear that her proficiency was extremely high
In the moment of his contemplation, he lifted his eyes to find Ten Thousand Beasts Hall seemed to be shutting its doors.
Chu Liang immediately felt a bit anxious.
Once the door closed, he had no idea when it would open again. What if the Human-faced Mandrill was taken by someone else next time?
Therefore, he quickly approached and said, "Don’t close the door just yet, won’t you allow me to go in for a while?"
Before the doorkeeper could respond, an old man with a long beard from inside the hall came out, and said coldly, "We’re closed, no entry."
Chu Liang earnestly said, "There is something I especially want inside. Can you please let me go and check?"
The old man glanced at him and before he could speak, a woman’s voice came from upstairs, "Let him in."
"Huh?" The long-bearded old man turned back and looked, seeming a bit surprised. He let Chu Liang in and said, "Don’t go upstairs."
"Alright," Chu Liang nodded in agreement.
The Ten Thousand Beasts Hall was extremely spacious, with various Spirit Beasts caged on the first floor and grotesque items kept in a corner peg.
After looking around for a while, Chu Liang finally found the counter hanging with the "Human-faced Mandrill" sign.
The clerk seemed a bit surprised, not knowing how he got in. Seeing Chu Liang come over, he showed a habitual smile and said, "Young Hero, what would you like to buy?"
"I would like to see this Human-faced Mandrill." Chu Liang said.
Unlike Demon Beasts that are kept in cages, objects with Ghosts are sealed in a small porcelain bottle and then sealed in a cage woven with Talismans.
Seeing what Chu Liang pointed at, the clerk immediately said, "Alright."
As he spoke, he moved his fingers to perform some technique. Immediately, the Talisman on the porcelain bottle fell off.
Whoosh–
The cold aura surged, and a plume of white light instantly soared out with the ghostly figure of the ghastly specter appearing, a petite figure like a child but with an oversized head.
"Ah–"
The moment the Human-faced Mandrill came out, it was full of Sha. With both its hands latching onto the cage, crazily struggling to break free. On seeing Chu Liang watching it from outside, it bared its sharp teeth. If it weren’t for the cage, it would have already pounced on him.
Terrifyingly violent!
"Though this creature isn’t spiritually advanced, it is quite rare and extremely malicious and cunning. Even our Ten Thousand Beasts Hall staff had to put in a lot of effort to catch it." The clerk introduced.
Chu Liang merely nodded. He knew how difficult the creature was to deal with.
However, the clerk mentioning this was most likely a way of justifying a high price, so he directly asked, "How much?"
"Eight hundred Vermilion Bird Coins," the clerk replied.
After doing some mental calculations, Chu Liang realized that it would be equivalent to eight hundred Sword Coins on Shu Mountain, which was quite a lot. Plus, this Human-faced Mandrill was spiritually mediocre, just exceptionally rare and hard to catch. Adding on top of it the inflated market rates in Taotie City, the price seemed somewhat justified.
However, for himself, its worth was far more than that.
"I’ll get the Vermilion Bird Coins now, can you reserve it for me so that no one else can buy it?" Chu Liang paused for a bit before speaking.
This object was an absolute necessity for him, hence he unusually didn’t bargain and instead requested to reserve it.
"Okay." The clerk nodded and said, "But you’ll need to pay a deposit, and we can only hold it for a maximum of three days."
"No problem," Chu Liang agreed immediately.
After leaving the Ten Thousand Beasts Hall, he couldn’t help but smile.
The delightful image of Big Head Babies lined up and assisting him in his cultivation seemed to be within reach already!
