Chapter 104: Chapter 32: All My Good Brothers Have Died (End of Month Extra Update, Asking for Votes)_2
He looked at Lin Miao and Lucy in front of him, gesturing for his men not to shoot, as both sides faced off across a few cars.
Paul’s head was a bit dazed from the grenade blast, and his forehead was cut by shrapnel, but he still endured the pain and said,
"Brother, I don’t know which path you’re from or why you’re bothering me, but everyone’s out here just to make a living. There’s no need to fight to the death like this. How about this: let us go, and these five trucks of oil are yours. I don’t want them."
Although Paul had quite a few combat implants on him, he felt confident he wouldn’t necessarily lose in a fight, but his cybernetic eye scan was immediately blocked by Lin Miao. The hacker next to him was quite formidable, so he couldn’t gauge their strength and didn’t dare make any rash moves.
In his view, both sides were evenly matched right now, and continuing to fight would be bad for both sides, so it was better for each to take a step back.
Though saying these words made him feel a sharp pain, as long as he could survive, it was all worth it.
Lucy had expected Lin Miao to refuse; she was already prepared to act, just that dealing with Paul and the firewall was a bit troublesome and would take some time.
But unexpectedly, Lin Miao nodded and smiled, saying to the Night Wanderers.
"Alright, I agree. You guys leave, but leave the oil for me."
After speaking, he even made way for them.
Paul couldn’t believe how readily the other side agreed. Though pleased, he remained vigilant and signaled with his eyes for one of his men to start the only vehicle that appeared unbroken behind him.
Lin Miao just watched as the subordinate got into the car and started it, making no move at all, not even saying a word.
Paul found it hard to believe, staring at Lin Miao and the female hacker beside him. The four of them slowly moved toward the car, ready to fight back if they even saw the blue light of a communication from a cybernetic eye.
But even as he got into the car, Lin Miao didn’t say a word, nor did he let his eyes stray from Paul’s body; his gaze was chillingly calm.
The car, carrying six people, drove away leaving the corpses scattered behind.
Sitting in the backseat, Paul looked back at Lin Miao, who was getting further away, secretly vowing revenge, promising to gather everyone and wipe out all Adcardo branches in Night City!
Lucy watched the distant exploding vehicles, the fire engulfing everyone in the car, unable to come to her senses for a long time.
When the attention of the five Night Wanderers was entirely on Lin Miao and herself, only Lucy saw it.
Saw the agency agent, who always sneaked around taking shots from behind, quietly climb into the trunk of the only good vehicle on the scene with several grenades.
Lin Miao hadn’t given the order.
At least in Lucy’s view, he hadn’t given any. She was a hacker, after all; she would know if there was any data transmission at this distance.
Which meant the person acted on his own, opting for mutual destruction with those five Night Wanderers!
A person who didn’t dare face the enemy directly on the battlefield, who only dared take cheap shots from a distance, showed such bravery, presumably for revenge for his fallen comrades.....
Of course, the reality was Lin Miao sent Brother Ni a side quest, but whether to accept it or not was up to the players.
It was unrelated to Lin Miao; he didn’t even mention any reward.
Just issuing it for fun.
Eh, I’m just playing around.
Brother Ni, however, is quite straightforward, sneaking into the car’s trunk with grenades, not making a sound from start to finish.
When the vehicle exploded, Lin Miao displayed just the right amount of shock and confusion, glancing around as if only then realizing Brother Ni was gone.
Regret, puzzlement, and distress played across his face.
Resembling a bullish stockholder bravely venturing into the stock market with leverage, only to face harsh reality, ending with a long, mournful sigh.
Lucy didn’t know how to comfort him, constantly reminding herself why she wanted to escape this godforsaken place.
This world is hell, swallowing anyone who harbors any delusions.
By the time Adcardo and Mann arrived, only Lin Miao, Lucy, and two players, one large and one small, remained at the scene.
Brother Dao didn’t make it and passed away.
Wildman exhibited remarkable vitality; though more severely injured than Brother Dao, he still lingered with a breath after the fight.
Adcardo’s battlefield doctor took one look, shook his head.
Beyond saving, he bid them farewell.
Then he went to bandage the back wound of the silver-haired Natural Curl.
Amidst the crowd, the dying Wildman appeared particularly tragic, his lips moved, seemingly wanting to say something.
Lin Miao half-knelt on the ground, leaning his ear close to Wildman’s mouth.
His voice was soft, others couldn’t hear, but Lin Miao could.
"BOSS, finish me off, and give me a big CG feature on the official site, make it a handsome one."
In front of everyone, Lin Miao solemnly said, "I will, I promise."
Everyone heard this, coupled with Wildman’s heroic and righteous expression, they all roughly guessed what he said.
Lin Miao stood up, everyone noticed his slightly red eyes, and his facial muscles slightly twitching, as if enduring his emotions from bursting out.
He drew the pistol from his waist.
Bang!
A shot hit Wildman’s forehead, his expression in death so satisfied, a faint smile on his lips, as if his last wish was fulfilled.
The straightforward Panam held back tears watching this scene, stepped forward, and patted Lin Miao’s shoulder, saying with a sobbing voice,
